How We Met

Tickett used to be the horse I would avoid being around, because I was afraid of him. He grew up for 5 years without ever leaving his small stall or paddock. My old instructor managed to sell him to my dad somehow & he lives at my best friends barn at her house with a huge pasture and is a completely different horse. No longer high strung, and gorgeous. Plus, amazing at dressage! When my instructor retired, my new instructor didnt have a horse for me to ride, so Dad convinced me to try Tickett. Its been almost a year and things are finally looking up again(:

Update 2/26/12
This morning I had a lesson and got to enjoy a peaceful Sunday morning with the beautiful weather in the indoor arena all by myself. It was a well-needed mini vacation! The lesson was good, Ticketts finally mastered bending to the inside while tracking right, but we still have to work on his left side. And although we are still having financial difficulties (home is a hard place to be right now, everybodys stressed and kinda pessimistic...) my parents finally allowed my grandfather (whos pretty well-off moneywise, but my parents dont like accepting help) to sponsor me to do dressage shows! So now I actually have a chance to prove myself and Tickett! Im super excited! Yesterday we got to go to Dover and try on dressage coats and price all my show equipment. Its the bare minimums, but its not how rich you are, or how fancy or how much stuff you have, its about how good you are! After the lesson, my coach mentioned a possible show this spring break I can go to, and I actually could say yes to! After my lesson, we trailered back up to Mrs. Benators house and Leah and I rode Freckles and Tickett around, working with the big soccer ball and scary tarps. Tickett ended up chasing after the tarp and wasnt scared at all! Then we decided to race up the pasture hill, through the gate to the adjoining pasture, and up the other hill to the fence. Tickett didnt really understand the first time, and ended up cantering towards the barn, but then he got upset when he realized it was a race and Freckles beat him. The second time, I had barely grabbed his mane, two-pointed and nudged him and he took off! I never knew Tickett would go so fast! But Freckles still put up a good race, and it was totally fun after I got over the adrenaline rush! I think that helped conquered my galloping fear a teeny bit(: Who knew my horse was so competitive!.
