Weekend Vote!
I’ve been offline for a couple days, lots of stuff going on. Thursday had a quick ride, Friday I had to get a cavity filled at the dentist ? Now my tooth is killing me! Lol, and to top it off, I’m sick. Hopefully I’ll feel better tomorrow so I can ride again.

I had a great ride with Beauty. She had so much energy! Which was good, because I love to go fast! hehe I think see finally stopped her biting. When ever I would put her saddle on, she would bite me. But I think she may have learned that I would not put up with that. We went about 2 miles because I was so cold, and it took forever to clean her up. I uploaded some new pics taken before and after I rode. And one of the pictures is my dads horse. She is going to 21 in July. Thanks for the vote. Leaving you one.

Today's first mini fact!
Miniature horses have uniquely small feet!
Yes, it's true! And while that is an obvious fact unless you've met one you really can't imagine how small they really are. The first time I laid eyes on Pippin he was only 4 months old and what struck me were his teeny tiny hooves! Of course, they're bigger now but still at 2" in diameter they are mighty small.
Miniature horses cannot be shod because the nails required to keep shoes in place would splinter the hoof wall. But, their hooves are much sturdier than their larger counterparts. Because minis are small their hooves take very little stress and they can not only trot on hard pavement without any adverse affects but can even gallop. A trim every two or three months keeps them in shape and they're good to go.
Miniature horses that work as therapy or guide horses often wear horse sneakers. This keeps them from slipping on polished surfaces and stops their hooves from damaging delicate surfaces.

I get to ride tomorrow morning with my dad and sister!!! Can't wait. I haven't got to ride since November. My sister took a few pictures of Purl and Beauty, I just need her to get them on the pc now. Beauty is so muddy. It will take a hole hour to clean her up I bet. Nothing else really going on her. Leaving a vote.

Hi, my name is Pippin and I am running for horse of the month in January. I am a cute but feisty miniature stallion and at 31" tall and 200lbs, I can literally pull my own weight! I love going out with my humans and my favourite activities (after eating, of course!) are driving and jumping. But… really I'm game for anything asked of me. Nothing much scares me and I LOVE new and exciting adventures.
Do I have any faults? If you ask me, of course not! I'm perfect! If you ask mama? Well, she doesn't like me nipping her (oh, but it's so tempting!) and she wishes I were better with water. I'm not too keen on baths or puddles.
Next month I will have been on the Horse Channel for 4 years and I'm the oldest active member. I would greatly appreciate your daily votes and support for me all next month. I plan to educate all my fans on the wonders of minis and I hope to highlight one of my movies each day.

hey all - i did not go to the show this weekend - i ended up not feeling well on Friday night and woke up Saturday not feeling well. It was not worth going to becuase there would not have been that many people there and we have a big big show this coming weekend that i am working toward so we are planning for that. Thanks for the vote!! It was such a pleasant surprise today to get HOTD. I didn't go around "voting like crazy" like I did last time to try to win... it's been such a bad couple of days that I haven't even been online as much as usual. SO... it was a complete surprise that Atlantis one HOTD today and a very pleasant one!! :)

Oh... and I just kind of made up Atlantis' name. He's a grey and I've always thought grey's look nice with a "water-related" or "weather-related" name... like "Rain" or "Misty", "Smoke", "Storm", etc! But we already had a "Rain" at the barn I board at/give lessons at and I wanted to try to come up with something more unique anyways. I thought about the names of great lakes and oceans... "Atlantic" was cool but not quite right, so then "The Lost City of Atlantis" popped into my mind! It still was sort of water-related, but a little more unique and I thought the images of the great lost city were very cool and would go well with a grey horse! So there ya have it! :) :) :)

Well thanks for the vote and comment! I love the name Nightmute too... I came up with it because I wanted to name him something different and his coat reminded me of like.. snowflakes or frost... so I thought of "cold" places... I thought of Juno (the city in Alaska) since that's a pretty cold place... but Juno just didn't seem right for this boy.. so then I looked up other cities in Alaska and I found one called "Nightmute"!!! I thought it was so WEIRD but different... and having "night" in there seemed to fit him and his coloring perfect too :)
Well that was a long explanation rofl. I just LOVE cowboy btw... AWESOME coloring. Reminds me a little of my boy, Lakota... but I think Cowboy's coloring is a little more rare!
