Leaving a quick vote. Goldie's eye is much better, and whatever was on her withers is clearing up.
Goldie needs about 50 more votes to reach her goal before October...can you help her with that?

Here's a Saturday vote for you! I wanted to thank everyone that has given me suggestions and advice on how to care for Goldie's withers and tail. I really appreciate your input.
My sister and I have been helping a friend train her 2 year old. We haven't ridden her yet, but we've lunged her and worked on ground manners. She's very smart, and she's not afraid of anything! We put a tarp on her back and she didn't even flinch!
We only have about a week left to vote for HOTM, so please vote for Goldie as much as you can, and don't forget the other horses that are running.

It's not a lump anymore, only for the first couple days then it turned into a scab with flaky skin around it. I washed it the other day and stopped putting ointment and stuff on it to let the air get to it. Otherwise I don't know what to do for it.

Here's a Monday vote. I started to vote yesterday but I couldn't stay on the computer. If I missed you, I'm very sorry. I have been taking care of Goldie's eye, it got swollen and cloudy. It has done that every once in a while since we got her because at her previous owner's, she escaped from the pasture and scratched her eye on a branch on a fallen tree. It had been infected, and I don't know if it wasn't properly cared for or what. On top of that, she has something on her withers that started out a lump and just turned into a big scab with flaky skin around it. We thought it might be infected bug bite, but we really don't know. Have you ever heard of anything like this? I washed it today but I really don't know what else to do. Oh, and her tail has been itchy for a long time too and I don't know why.

To get lots of votes: Ask the HOTD who are you? They feel more obliged to answer back and vote. Next advertise your horse by asking people to vote for him/her. Hope this helps!

good evening, we are so busy around here, I drive school bus and we are getting ready to go back to school/ work. I like the paycheck and the kids, but I hate giving up my summer. boohoo!
But then I look at it as, when winter is over it will be a short while and we'll have foals on the ground.
Also getting ready for the MN State Fair, we will be there doing the Aisle of Breeds to represent the 2011 MN Horse Expo

Left you a vote for Cloud, beautiful he's really nice.

continuing the story of tailor: after the problems at the ditch jump, his trainer and rider decided to work on the specific jump at home. they went back to getting him confident over the ditch and the liverpool (a stadium jump with "fake water" beneath it) in familiar surroundings. his next outing was an olympic qualifier. if he had a good showing there they would make the team.
i wanted to share with you that i had a problem at sing's first show. she was working well at home but just like WE get excited when we arrive at the show or fairgrounds, with all the sights and smells associated with the activities, so do our horses. she took a 6 stride hunter combination in 3 strides while we were warming up! that means her stride was about 21 ft, almost like she was back at the race track! i borrowed a twisted wire snaffle and was able to slow and shorten her stride and got it in the correct (and safe!) six strides during the show. some horse's are more sensitive than others. she responded well and i never had to use it again. once the horse understands to slow down to pressure, rather than run through it, their trainiing advances. tailor was SUPER sensitive and stopped, rather than slowed to the pressure. i see using a stronger bit as no more cruel than putting braces on kids legs or teeth to improve their quality of life. after patiently working with a training device the horse should learn the proper response and then you no longer need it. it's like moving from first grade to second. many horses even freak or hurt when first saddled. it just takes proper conditioning to adjust them to it so they become a safe riding horse.
