When my friend, Maria, first got Sadie, she was only 1 and a half. I don't know who broke her, but her daughter, Alyssa, did a lot of work with her. When Alyssa was a baby, her mom would ride with her. Alyssa knows no fear. She's amazing for such a young girl. She tried to barrel race her, but Sadie's not into running. Maria had planned to sell Sadie, but for some miracle, gave her to me. I'm so blessed. And yes, Sadie's into everything she can get into. She didn't get the feed container open. I posted a picture of me showing Sadie my birthday shirt with our picture on it. She wiped her mouth on it....Jessica's suppose to come back over next Wednesday to ride. Congratulations Ginger for being our new HOTM! Please vote for Cross Creek Horses (91397) and Cappuccino (212230) every day in August!
Miracles in Motion also needs volunteers to exercise horses during the winter. Horse Committee people can take a riding test that involves walk, trot, and canter. You have to walk and trot with and with out stirrups. You also need to be able to ride safely (kind of obvious).
There are 2 levels of riders: Trail Riders and Exercise Riders. The trail riders need to ride while an instructor is supervising. While the Exercise riders only need another exercise rider present to ride (at least one rider must be over 18). The rider exercise any horse that is used in the program and not injured. They can also choose where they want to ride (though often Iowa winters decide for us). If it is nice enough though you can ride outside. You need to school your horse but you can also have fun! Because the horses are bomb proof we often have a lot of fun, playing catch (blow up beach balls of various sizes so they don’t hurt the horse if we miss) and basket ball. Or trying to play polo using a lunge whip and hitting the balls that we drop, I think that this would be very funny to watch.

Hi to all. Hope everyone had a great St. Patrick's Day. I had horsey time, so mine was great. Had a nice ride on my gorgeous girl, then Austin rode. He's becoming a great cowboy. Loves to ride. He had Sadie chasing the cats and dogs while he rode. That's not good. Teaching her bad habits. She already has enough of those....We left for Williams on Monday. Spent the first night at The Grand Canyon Hotel. That's where I met Razz, a 20hh Belgium Draft horse. I was in awe at this gorgeous guy. Then, I met Rudy, a 1500 pound black percheron. Both are tour horses. Watched the Wild West Show the next morning, then boarded the Grand Canyon Railway to the Grand Canyon. We were entertained on the way with trivia and Jessie, a singing banjo player. He was funny, too. The Grand Canyon is so beautiful. A tribute to God's amazing Glory. The only thing I bought was a refridgerator magnet. The gift shops are expensive as they are everywhere. The train ride back was very eventful. First, Clyde entertained everyone with his singing, guitar playing and funny sense of humor. Then, train robbers chased the train down on horseback. Awesome! After we got back to Williams, we went out to dinner, then stayed Tuesday night at the Days Inn. We took a drive thru Sedona on our way home Wednesday morning. Gorgeous Rock formations.... When we pulled into our driveway, I got out of the car and headed straight for the corral. Had to give the girls hugs. After unloading the car, Austin starting saddling Sadie up, anxious for a ride. The western theme in Williams had him missing the girls, too. If you ever get the chance, this is a vacation you'd love.... Thanks for remembering Lightning and Sadie while I was gone....Still praying for Japan. My heart goes out to all of those people who went thru the horror. Still praying for all on HC. Love you all. Big hi. Congratulations to Beauty on March HOTM. Everyone who ran was a good choice. Hope no one was discouraged and will run, again. Had a nice horsey day. Austin's gotten brave fast. He rode solo for the second time today and was laughing while Sadie trotted. What a nut. I'm sooo glad he likes to ride. Got my tack shed up and filled. Really happy about that, too. Rick got on Star bareback and she stood still, closing her eyes like she was drifting off to sleep. I think it did her some good to be included like that. He sat on her for awhile and then got off hugging her. I brushed both of them, Star and Sadie, not Rick, and both loved it. Lots of carrots today, too. Love to all and a Wednesday vote. Thinking of everyone and praying for all. No ride. Spent time with Sadie and Star taking pictures of Sadie following the cats around. She's a little too big for them to play with. Days are getting longer but still go by so fast. Need to get in more riding time before the heat hits.
