Hey! Happy Valentine's Day to you :) Wow you have been busy riding this past week but practice does make perfect. I'm glad you're getting the day off before the show. I always did that with Koot too. I'm glad I could help you out :) That makes sense about keeping Luke's shoes on year round. It can be a tough call sometimes. I'm pretty sure Koot could go back to being fully barefoot but at the same time I don't want to chance messing up his hooves again. Did you get in any riding yet?
I got in a great trail ride with Koot today. He was VERY happy to get out and power walked through the entire trail lol then got to roll and graze after. Got a couple photos and some video :) Voted. XOXO Danya and Kootenai

That is awesome that you'll be moving up. Don't be scared just because you're going up against adults. Just think of it this way, you finally get to test yourself against people who have been doing this awhile and see where you stand. You can watch and learn from them and improve if you need to :) Oh okay that makes sense. Koot can last 8 weeks but after 8 weeks it's pretty hard to continue riding him without possibly hurting him or something. But you jump a lot and right now Koot and I aren't showing so I'm not as worried about him. When we're showing, it's definitely every 8 weeks! He just has front shoes. He used to be bareback up until I got him but since we walk on asphalt to get to the arena I put some front shoes on. His hooves were cracking way too much. He honestly may be fine to go back to barefoot but I haven't tried. By the way I really love talking to you :) definitely one of my favorite people to talk to. That's pretty much how my trails are around where I ride. They are maybe 15 minutes long but if we walk, trot and stuff then it's like a 10 minute trail lol. I have some neighbors/friends that I trailer out with but we haven't had much free time to do that lately. That is awesome you had such beautiful weather this weekend :) So did you get to ride?
I rode on Saturday, it was really nice like 70 out and Koot did so well. He was SUPER lively since he just got new shoes last week and needed to try them out haha. That is great about Wiggles, I'm glad to hear he isn't going to lose any weight. I don't like seeing horses losing weight that's probably why Koot gets some nice pounds on him during the winter months lol. But he gets back into shape super fast so I never worry! So today was a good day. I had a two hour delay for school so I got to sleep in. (I say we shoulda gotten no school, my street was icy!) and then I came home early as Wednesdays are my half days. I did almost hit the mailbox pulling back into our driveway (oops! Dad would have killed me! Haha) but then we had a little girl come over to meet the horses who absolutely loves horses and wants to come over and groom and be around the horses. It’s a good deal for us and her, she gets her horsie fix, and our horses get a little more attention/spoiling. I round penned Tianna a little, just walk/trot as the round pen had snow in it, and she had a little attitude going on, but she was good other than some snarky pinned back ears. I then got an email about someone interested in our stock trailer, so fingers crossed when she comes out tomorrow she will like it and buy it! I made a deal with my dad if I could sell our 4 horse stock trailer I could get a trailer that actually fits Tianna! So yes, today has been a good day, a nice little layer of snow from last night, life is not half bad here in Northern VA (:

Ya it's definitely not his favorite thing to do, he'd rather be barrel racing if it was up to him but it's fun to try new things :) I'm sure he could jump higher than that I've just never tried with him. I used to jump all the time when I was younger. Wow it already turned into ice!? That seems pretty fast. I'm sure the horses aren't too excited about being kept in the barn but at least they get extra treats :) Koot is doing great. It's going to be nice this weekend so I can't wait to ride. Voted! That makes sense! Koot and I jump from time to time but it's not something he loves so we keep it pretty simple. I don't think we've jumped above 2 feet lol. Wow 8 inches of snow overnight??? That is pretty crazy. I couldn't imagine waking up to that much. Aww it sounds like Wiggles and Honey get along so well. i havent either this month and bailey is soooo hairy she looks aweful lol - we do the jumpers 2'6", 2'9", 3' and starting 3'3" this year prob. I was going to go to the one on jan 22 but i am not sure just because i have not ridden her much bc of the weather and the time diff. They are having their big show up there this week and next week - i think we are going to go and watch Come visit me, Prissy, Chloe, Dixie, Sunny, and Nina & Bailey.

Hey Luke! Aww that sounds like a while so I guess you can't be riding him again for like 2 months or so. Ya isn't it crazy how fast they lose weight. In the summer when Koot is conditioned for shows he's so skinny well in shape I should say and in the winter he's got a huge belly haha. Kinda funny! No I don't have a pasture at my house just a big stall in my backyard for Koot. It's something like a 36 X 24 so it's big but not quite a pasture. Voted! I'm glad to hear the horses liked them! Koot loves those peppermints candies and I'm sure they have like tons of sugar in them but I don't think too many can hurt him so don't worry about the cookies you baked :) Aww what a bummer about Wiggles starting to lose all the weight. Did the vet say how long this will be going on until Wiggles is all healthy and back to his normal weight? Well I had a short bareback ride on Koot the other day and then yesterday he got to run and roll in the big arena..he was soo happy! He rolled like 5 times and then jumped and ran lol it was so funny. I posted a video on HC but it's not up yet. Hope you have a fun day! Voted. I've never tried baking treats for Koot before but they would probably be a horrible but hey maybe they just look bad to you but might taste very yummy to Luke and Wiggles :) That's awesome that Luke got all those fun things for him. Oh ya we are super excited! Koot already got a walk this morning and was pretty happy since it's 65 outside!! I'm hoping to take him for another walk later today if I have time. Hey! Yes the rain finally stopped today and there was actual sun. Koot was so excited to hang out in the sun and nap. He got a walk today and will get a walk everyday until it's dry at the arena. Hi to all. Had the vet out this morning. Lightning's got a huge hole next to the fast growing tumor. Lot's of infection. That's what was draining out of his nose. Part of the bone in his face is gone. The vet said there's nothing he can do. As long as he's eating good, he can be ridden. When Lightning gets to where he's not eating, it'll be time to put him down. ... No ride. Got Danya's rain. Love, a big hug and a vote.
