My Horse's Achievements: Jane takes care of her old mom and I am proud of her all the time. Plus she recently won her first blue ribbon in a horse show. Even though she doesn't like to show. she tries for me. We won 1st place in the advanced trail obstacle course.
Jane placed 2nd in her first ACTHA judged trail ride.

We rode in our 2nd ACTHA CDC this past weekend and out of over 50 entries in the Pleasure Div. we placed 6th!!!
My Horse's Favorite Treat: Oats and honey granula bars. She will turn her head for one when she hears me tear the wrapper.
My Horse's Favorite Things To Do: eat and hang out with her friends same as any 16 yo.
Pet Peeves: Strange dogs around her legs and horses that tailgate

How We Met
I had been looking for 3 years for another horse after my Arab/Morgan gelding had died. I had looked at QHs, TB,s, Arabs, Morgans and all combinations of these. I had been lightly riding my old cremello mare, that was wonderful so I decided to breed her to get what I wanted. I didn't want a palamino, so sorrels and chestnuts were out. I found a solid blk. TWH stud with an excelent disposition. The owner said he had a colt from this stallion for sale. So I went to look at it. It was a yearling. I asked if he had any 2 yo. He said he didn't. He then went to another field to feed some other horses and I tagged along. I saw this big filly from about 60 ft. away. She was beautiful!. As I got closer she got more beautiful. I said "you said you didn't have any 2 yo." He said "I don't." I asked if she was a small 3yo. He said "Honey, that is a yearling." Wow!! she was big. I walked right up to her and as soon a I put my hands on her I KNEW. I asked if she was for sale. He didn't want to sell her. I kept asking. He finally put (for our area) an astronomical price on her. I think he thought I would give up. I bought her. Everyone who heard what I had paid for a yearling thought I was nuts, but a year later at our first trail ride they all changed their minds. One guy said he had thought I was taken advantage of but on seeing Jane as a 2yo that, as he put it, I wasn't hurt a bit. I told him that when I bought Jane I wasn't buying the filly in front of me I was buying the horse she was going to grow up to be..

Hi Janie, here's a vote for ya. Today March 24th would have been H.T. 21st Birthday! Onto 2005 with the adventures of H.T. What a show season for us. We were at the NJQH Youth show and showing in Trail class. You know I love trail class, right! Well, We were going against this woman from Conn. with her two horses that show at the Quarter Horse World Show and are always in the top 5 placings! I'm like, I'm out of my league! But we showed the Select Class and there were about 6 riders in our age group. HT. had an awesome pattern! Placings were called and we were 1st and 2nd under the two judges. I beat her and then came in second to her, we kinda flip flopped on the placings. I was on a high like you couldn't believe. He was so good, we did the Open trail then, against like 11 horses and were 2nd and 3rd under the two judges. I couldn't contain myself after that, I cried tears of joy all the way back to the stalls, then had a beer! Yeah, me the person who don't drink! LOL!
What a day today! Paige is just getting better and better and I'm really learning to feel my way through all the moves to keep her up without letting her get to out of frame! We are really becoming a team now! Karen of course has no problems, but hey, that's why she's a trainer! LOL!
Got home and it was like 45 degrees, got the kids out for a little fresh air and moved hay to the barn. Wood to the garage in preperation for tomorrow's big snow storm! Yep another one! Oh well, after all it's spring! NOT!!!!! Love ya, Marion and the blondies.

Today is the last day for the next week that I will be able to leave normal daily blogs and votes for a few days. My oldest son is visiting from Kabul. We pick him up at the airport Sunday!!! Today is his 31st birthday! We will be out cramming all we can into a few days. I will not have much computer time. I will try to vote contest each day and I will try to help with the newsletter on Thursday.

Hope you are having a great day! We had a horseclub meeting tonight!
Fancy has cabin fever like never before!!! Trigger will stand beside the stall gate to be near Fancy. He went to stand there while she was eating her grain and she tried to kick him. She seems to get angry when he is eating hay and she can't stop him. I can just tell what she is thinking. She wants to boss him around so bad! Trigger has the chance to not be beat up and bossed around but, when I tie Fancy out to clean her stall, Trigger stands right at her hip and sniffs her botty. He must be some kind of crazy!

A few months ago I began a part time job. Well, that is more like full time now. As you have noticed my irregularity on HC, I am pressed for time and energy. Lately, I have fallen asleep at the computer and I don't know how I have not fallen out of this chair. LOL! When I am mentally and physically able, I will leave a vote for each of your profile pages. There may be several times that I will only vote for one page. If you have a preference as to which page I leave the main vote on, please let me know and I will try to do that for you.

I hope you gals and guys are saddling up Saturday and/or Sunday in support of our Veterans. People who give or gave their lives for others each day they served, when they really did not have to do so. Wow, what amazing people they are.
My granddad was in WWII and my oldest son has served in the Afghanistan wars, working on communications devices. I have one cousin serving in the navy, that was injured during the attack against the United States Navy destroyer USS Cole on October 12, 2000.
We all are affected by the military in some way.

Does anyone remember reading last month, about a nationwide Ride to Remember Veterans during Veteran's Day weekend, Nov. 10-11, 2012? How would you guys like to have our own HorseChannel ride in honor of Veteran's Day? We can chose one day that we all will ride on, even if it is only for a few minutes or just to sit on the horse during the Veteran's holiday. Then we could share our pics from that day and share our story of the day. If you agree would Sunday November the 11 be ok for our ride date?
November is a time of thanks. Thanks should be part of our every day lives all year long. Let us be thankful for our friends and loved ones. Let us be kind one to another. Cruelty has no place among true friends.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were very busy days for me! I have been working with Fancy ground driving. Cowboy rides Trigger while I ground drive Fancy. Sunday, after church, we used the pool noodles in place of the cart shafts. Each day ground driving gets better! Fancy loves to keep moving, so we are working on her patience. We did get some great video that I hope to share with you in a few weeks.
The winds have been up all day and it is beginning to rain here right now. I did watch the news, this storm looks very serious. If you are affected by storm Sandra, be wise and stay safe. We love you♥

Hi! Did you have a busy, fun weekend? What have you been up to?
I have been on the move, but I enjoyed it! Saturday morning, Fancy participated in her first parade! It was a really big homecoming parade, with lots of tight crowds and loud bands! Fancy was excited for the first 15 to 20 minutes, but after that she was very relaxed and was not bothered by bouncing children on the sidelines. In past years, I have ridden my previous horses in this parade, but I never got to participate in the tradition of riding around the football field before the game. I could not get my past horses onto the football field because they were afraid. Well yesterday, I did for the first time, ride around the football field, with my Fancy! Fancy even took the lead and she did that running walk at least half way around! It was so much fun! I will never forget the first time I got to ride around the football field!!!!! Oh, and to boot, the home team won their game!!!!!! I would like to believe Fancy gave them good luck when she went around the field. LOL!
Half way through the day all I could think of was how this has to be my best day ever with Fancy. And then I think to myself, I have had so many days that I thought were my best day ever with Fancy! Saturday morning, I lost my keys on the way out of town. The keys fell off the side of the trailer or the truck. But I found them completely mangled on the side of a busy street after 6 hours of being run over in heavy traffic. Even though I had the lost key problem, I still had that feeling of this being the best day ever!
Saturday night, our family attended our horseshow end of year banquet. This was our first time attending and I had no idea what to expect. So, I did not take my camera and I was very surprised to see Little Cowboy & Trigger won a good bit of awards. Little Cowboy was so excited to share the awards with Trigger, they used their new snaffle bit and new grooming kit tonight. He is going to save his new blanket for next years show season. Little Cowboy rode until dark, and I did get a few pictures tonight before it got too dark.

Sunday's showers of rain are blessing our land. Saturday's warm sun and gentle breezes were spectacular as Fancy and I traveled with our horse club Saturday morning to the Cowboy capital of NC, Love Valley. Fancy showed what a beautiful girl she is by being well behaved. It was delightful to see a town where horses were number one! No cars or trucks allowed! We saddled up and rode into town before 10am and the place looked like a ghost town. After 10am, the shops open up & town is exciting! Being in town actually felt like we were in a different time long ago! They tell me nightlife in town is just like being in the old days too, the saloons are full & wild. When all horses were saddled, we took a longgg trial ride under a beautiful sky as we appreciated the gentle NC breeze & adored rolling hills of the valley. I saw the cutest tiny yellow flowers that looked like members of the Sunflower family. It is amazing how each trip to different areas reveal similarities & differences. I believe the best way to see God's amazing creations are by horseback. There were horses of every color to see! We met a tall lanky TWH gelding that looked like Fancy, but they are not related. I also met a Gypsy man & his horse who were on their 4th week of camping there. After the trail ride, we enjoyed dinner at the lovely home of a family in our horse club. I plan to post pics of our trip during this week.
They get visitors from all over the world. Have you ever visited Love Valley, NC or any other place like it?

Fancy and Trigger are pawing your voter horseshow this morning. It is hard to fit two hooves on one vote button at the same time, but they seem to be working it out.

My brother said the man that gave Trigger to him said to use a snaffle bit. Tuesday I got Trigger out and worked with him a little to see how he responded to the snaffle bit. Little Cowboy wants to use a curb bit. I have noticed the curb bit is not working out between the two of them. I checked and Trigger will listen to either bit if you use it correctly. So I know it is a matter of getting my little one to listen and learn. I am hoping Little Cowboy will listen to me this time and learn to use the snaffle bit. Little Cowboy said he wants to work this out with Trigger so he will learn to use the snaffle. Then I groomed Trigger and let him graze in the back yard.
Next was Fancy's turn. She put her head onto the halter because she wanted OUT too. I have mailed our entry for the halter show at our local fair. We practiced for the halter classes. Fancy is also trying hard to learn to pivot on that right hind. Tuesday was the best yet. She almost turned completely around but she is slow to turn that right hind. Every now and then she will turn her body with out moving her right hind, then she ends up with her right leg twisted. I put her in the dirt to try it and she did a little better on turning that foot as she turns. So I am going to practice on the dirt until she understands that she can turn that foot as her body turns. I am not sure about this, I am learning too. Then Fancy enjoyed grass while I groomed her.

Here is a late vote. I have been outside playing with our puppies, working with Fancy, and putting longer twine on sponsor banners for our show this Saturday. I am entering Fancy in the horse show at our local fair coming the end of September. So I may not enter her in the show this Saturday. I am thinking of letting Little Cowboy have all the fun at this show. We will work with him and Trigger Friday after school.
Are there additional shows in your area this year? If there are any other shows in your area, do you plan to attend as a spectator or competitor? We only have the one this Saturday and the one at our fair coming up close to the end of this month.
I almost forgot, I will try to vote all contest Friday morning then I may be offline Friday and Saturday. If I am able to get online Friday or Saturday, I will.

Little Cowboy and Trigger did have a wonderful day. After church Little Cowboy let Trigger graze in the back yard before a last ride of summer break from school. They walked a few blocks up and shared their last ride with little girls and boys up the street. I think there were about 15 children k to 5th grade in age. This was a great way to end their break! They were very happy. I see my Little Cowboy loves to share his horsey and see the children so happy. I am trying to teach him that when God blesses you, it is good to should share that blessing with others.
Please pray for Andrea's (with Sweet Pea #192859) grandpa, he has a health issue.

It was a lovely day until the rains came in. There was a long storm that recently ended. It feels really nice outside these days.
Trigger was blind in one eye before we got him. Monday his blind eye was very cloudy. Today the vet told me Trigger is fine long as he is in no pain. He is such a great kids horse. I hate that something happened to his eye and I pray that I can take good care of him from now on.
Please visit Sassy Sapphire #193884 and leave an encouraging word. From what I can tell, her blog to me says Sassy Sapphire's owner lost her father this past Sunday morning.
One of my friends was out last Saturday at one of the state parks riding and there was an accident. Her friend dismounted to help and her friend's palomino TWH walked off. They were on the news tonight asking for help to find the missing horse. Please pray that they find Jasmine in good health very soon.

Show update: Thursday Cowboy practiced for some events & carrying the flag on Trigger. Friday Fancy & Trigger visited the farrier. We cleaned tack & loaded the trailer Friday evening.
Now for the excitement! Saturday morning, I gave Trigger a bath. I can not clean him up the day before because he will roll extra hard to collect much dirt as he can. I got as much water off him as I could & loaded him in the trailer before he could get dirty. I was standing at the small door latching his halter, something poked out by my feet, I saw a fluffy red-ringed raccoon looking tail swish by my feet & disappear under the trailer. It was a FOX! I fastened the halter & went into the house. The fox stayed under the trailer. My BB gun is very weak. You can see the BB's fall to the ground when you shot it. We wanted the fox to leave, so we got the BB gun after it & it did not move. Several minutes later we saw it go under the drain pipe at the end of our driveway. I was a bit shaky after I realized I had been that close to the fox.
We left a bit later than expected. Fancy stood at the gate, looked square at my face & nickered. I felt like dirt to leave her. As we left she ran back & forth & whinnied loudly. I promised I would make it up to her.
We arrived in time for Cowboy & Trigger to warm up 30 minutes before the show. There were sheep & bulls around the arena this time. Last time there were only bulls. Trigger was not bothered by the bulls, but he did not cotton to the sheep. Cowboy & one of the adult men rode their horses up to the sheep & petted them through the fence. Cowboy dismounted & walked Trigger up to them first, then he rode him up to the sheep. Very smart Cowboy. After that Trigger was ok with the sheep.
Cowboy was galloping with a teen girl he met & he yelled whoa to Trigger & her horse stopped They both got a kick out of that.
Friday we picked up a rain poncho for the just in case. It came in handy as several rain showers passed through during the show.
Cowboy & Trigger won 1st place in Western Walk & Jog 12 & under, 2nd place in Youth Western Go As You Please 12 & under, 1st place in Youth Western Pleasure 12 & under, & 1st place in Youth Catalog Race 12 & under. They also entered the flag race, but his flag fell out of the sand at the very end.
At the end of the show Cowboy took his helmet off and put it on Trigger. I don't know if he thought Trigger needed it or what he was thinking. LOL.

When I whistle Fancy comes to me & Trigger looks at her like he is thinking, 'Stay away from the people, you poor idiot! Run, Run!' We got them haltered and off we went. Fancy and Trigger enjoyed a walk through the neighborhood, pats and whispers from the kids, & tasty grass. We returned home & put both horses in the corral. Trigger looked totally confused. Trigger thinks anything to do with people, means WORK. I hope he is learning that people are cool to hang out with too.

How are you today? Did you enjoy your weekend?
I have enjoyed a very horsey weekend. Saturday, during our 6 hour ride, we made some new friends. One man took pics of us as we crossed the Food Lion parking lot and he edited them. This was Fancy's first ride to my Mom's house. Little Cowboy and I got caught in a quick passing storm on the return trip.
Sunday evening, Trigger and Cowboy made some new friends. Trigger does not adore children like Fancy does, but he did make 7 young boys very happy. One little boy was very afraid, but once he felt Trigger walk underneath him, he fell in love with horse riding ♥
Even though, I am still tired from walking all the children Sunday evening, I enjoyed seeing and hearing their excitement and happiness.

What a beautiful sunshiny Carolina day! Looks like the perfect day for an after church horse ride. I won't get to enjoy a ride today because Little Cowboy has a Hitch in his Giddy-up. His little tummy took sick in the weee hours of the morning. Little Cowboy finally rest in bed as I thank God for the beauty of this day.
If the sun is shining at your house, go out and enjoy it while it is there. Be careful not to over do it!
We have a slight chance for more rains here. Don't fret if it is raining at your house. Rain is a good thing. Makes the flowers, trees, and grass for hay grow! And just think, when the sun shines, it will be lovely!

Little Cowboy enjoyed his first ride to our local riding park. It was only us two with Fancy and Trigger. Our ride lasted for 3 1/2 hours. We rode in the arena after our ride. Fancy gets a bit high strung in the arena, even with only Trigger there. I am going to have to take her there one day and just ride her in the arena till she settles down. It was very hot as we expected storms in the late evening. So far the thunder has stopped and we are having a nice cool shower.
I am VERY tired and ready for bed. So, I must 'rattle my hocks' so I can get myself to bed soon!

I remember when I was a bit younger, these HOT days were loved by all the kids. We never heard of too hot. I had a Saturday ride scheduled with some other friends. Due to the heat (high 90's to 100 degrees) our Saturday ride was cancelled.
Saturday evening my brother and Buttercup surprised us with a visit. Little Cowboy and I joined them for a 5 hour ride. We began with a trip to the creek. As always, the temperature was pleasant in the woods. We used the natural obstacles to have lots of fun. Buttercup does not like water. We had several little places where she could experience water crossing. We went through some neighborhoods, even made a trip to the middle school where Little Cowboy will be a new student this year. He had no cares for that during our ride. LOL! We stopped at the store for drinks and people stopped to see the horses and chat.

Up date!! I rode Dusk last night 3 hours before the fireworks he will not stay at a canter I was really mad at him and I gave him his frist bath at my ranch He didn't know what was happening!!!!Well loked at the viedo the horses went cazy!!!

It is 10:30am and we are in the process of deciding our activities this very moment. It will amount to a movie, family cook out and fireworks tonight. I was looking forward to riding Fancy with my Brother and Buttercup. But that may have to wait till Thursday or Friday.
