Riding today
What an awesome day! I went on my first trail ride in over 30 years.
It was so cool, Goober was amazing!! I worked on my seat and hands some more. Things are coming together so nicely.
Then I tacked longed and rode my beautiful Kiwi for about 20 minutes. She is still not sure about the whole idea, and will do much better once I stop confusing her with my hands.
God I have so much to learn!
Even so~~ Worse day in the saddle is better by far than the best day anywhere else!!!!Come visit me, Kiwi.

Good Morning!

I love wearing winter clothes. I like being warm though:) Mos horses grow their coats as they need them. Fancy is out unless it is raining. Her little coat has grown and is soft and fluffy. I love rubbing it:) I hope Kiwi grows a coat soon. We don't want her to be cold.

Our Sunday
The human colts and I had a great Sunday!!!
Lots of barn chores, groomed some of the mini's which was interesting~ my 7 year old twins think it is really cool that Sheila, our friend, has so many "baby horses". They did a good job trying to groom. I am working on them to keep their bodies and spirits still so they can hear what the horses are trying to tell them.
The twins went to play after that and I spent a wonderful hour grooming and grooming and grooming my beautiful Kiwi. After getting groomed and tacked yesterday she spent quality time in the late afternoon taking a "mud treatment" lol
So yesterday we did it all again. She was stunning!! I then groomed, tacked, lunged and rode the Tenn Walker that I am working with to get my riding back. It didn't seem fair to try to work with kiwi with the twins running around, along with several other folk and what not.
After I got done riding and got my friend all cleaned up and cooled off I turned around to find that Miss Thing had gone for another mud treatment~~~ Silly Horse!!Come visit me, Kiwi.

Fancy and Queenie had a jumping contest today:) They both passed the first low and middle board jumps. But on the top board jump, Queenie knocked the board down. Fancy won!

Saturday
Wow what a great day!!! Bought a saddle off ebay for 20.00 only to find out the seller lives less than 10 miles away!!! It is a beautiful OLD close contact saddle that cleaned up pretty and fits my beautiful Kiwi like a glove!!!!
Spent most of the afternoon at the barn doing chores and cleaning my princess piggy up after some quality time rolling in the pasture. My GOODNESS that horse can get filthy!!!!
Tacked her up and lunged her for a while, and walked her all over the place. We spent a bunch of time watching the raft of kids on the trampoline. It is the first time I ever saw her shy~~ so we walked around there for a long time while I explained to my pretty girl about how human foals behave. She was much better after that~~
Then we, the human colts, my sister, and I went to Skowheagan to watch the Special Olympics horse show.
It was amazing to watch those kids bond with the horses and succeed riding those amazing horses as well as their joy getting the ribbons.
Off soon to the barn for some serious work and then we RIDE!!!!!!!Come visit me, Kiwi.

Gotta Saturday Night vote for you! I hope you have had as much fun as we have today! Today was bath day for Fancy. After her bath my son (on his bike) and I hand walked Fancy around the block. We let her graze before going home. I saddled Fancy and I rode her around the neighborhood and through the car wash:), while my son rode his bike. She surprised me by walking sooo slow the whole time. I couldn't believe it. I didn't even have to fight with her to go into our yard. She was just layed back and easy going! I was just surprised! I took tons of photos with my clean girl. Now she smells fresh too! I hated to put her into her corral. I hope she doesn't roll tonight:( I will see about that in the morning, LOL.

WE DID IT!!!
we did it. We took our first ride together today. It was short and on a lead line as she was a bit nervous and the ground was wet and slippery, but we did it!!! She did look back at me once as if to say "you're kidding right???!!!"

Riding today
It is a beautiful foggy morning in Maine and is supposed to clear off by noon. I think my plan is to spend our usual time loving on each other, and grooming.
I am going to exercise a few of the other horses first just to get my kinks worked out, then Kiwi and I are going to have our first ride. I think it is going to be magical!!! Probably very short, lol, but MAGICAL!!!!!!!Come visit me, Kiwi.

Thank you so much! She is a stunning girl. Kiwi is smart, funny, and very much an alpha mare. There are times when I have to remind myself that I am the one with thumbs. She is my first horse and has been very patient with me. Tomorrow will be my first time up on her to ride. I think it will be amazing for both of us!!!!! Come visit me, Kiwi.
