SPROCKET AND FRIENDS UPDATE
I took Sprocket on a trail today, it was just the two of us and it was cold and slightly rainy. When I went down to the pasture to get him he was practically prancing circles around me he was so energetic. I took him to the arena and lunged him for about 10 – 15minutes and he was crazy he was flying around the arena like a bat out of hell finally he stopped running and calmed down so I took him out and tacked. When we got out on the trail he was a little jiggy at first since we normally go out with at least one other horse but he soon settled nicely and we rode the rest of the time on the buckle he hardly even spooked at the billions of deer that were grazing around every corner.

Merry Christmas! Hope your holidays are merry! I have a lot of fun wit hmy horses in the snow! want to know what i do? I put the horses in there smaller pasture then i go out in the bog one and make tons of Snowmen! ( of course i got help though!) Then i decorate them with carrots, hay, apples, oats, and lots more treats. I always make sure the apples and carrots are in the snow men sticking out just a little! Then I let the horses out and they go play with the snowmen! They trample on then and run around getting they yummy treats! I don't know what bit me. It really hurt tho'. It's been itching. I haven't been sick anymore. I guess I'd better stick with the saddle since I had problems bareback. Lightning's a little lazy which is a good thing for me. We'll get on track. Not having a horsey Tuesday because I'm suppose to work. Maybe a horsey Thursday? Hope so. And Susan (Sing) is right. The older we get, the more out of shape some of us become, heavier and the less our bodies are willing to work with us. And running out of medication is a dumb thing on my part. So sorry that this copy and paste is going to be on all of your pages. Will try to make this as short as possible. Thursday was beautiful but a little windy. I'd woke up not feeling my best. I was out of my anti- depressant medication and sore from shoveling and carrying gravel. Still not done. I'd said I was going to ride Lightning. First, I watered the trees and plants in the front yard. While watering the last tree, something had crawled up the inside of my jeans and bit my right thigh. Pain and agony. Broad daylight and I'm out in the front yard with my hand down the front of my pants trying to find whatever it was. Probably a spider. Still have a hard knot and a large swollen bump from it. Something paid me back....I went inside and got the bridle. It was so twisted up. Took a while to straightened out. I tried to put the bit in Lightning's mouth, but the Big Red Machine clinched his jaws and after several tries and getting aggravated, I stopped. I went inside, grabbed a couple of dog leashes to use as reins and attached them to Lightning's halter. I'd taken his fly mask off and bandaged the tumor. It didn't want to stay on and finally fell off. I put his fly mask back on. Austin, with the camera in hand, kept leading Lightning around to position him next to the corral so I could get on him bareback. No way was he going to allow that. I'm no Danya, and he's definetly not Koot. Cowboy Doug and his sister were watching. Wendy yelled over to me asking if I was going to ride the horse. I yelled back that I was trying. It was an ugly experience. After awhile of this pitiful display of horsemanship, I walked to the trampoline mumbling I'm no cowgirl. I did mention I was out of medication? Austin brought Lightning over to me. I sat on the trampoline kissing his nose. Then Rick came home! Now I'll be able to get on and ride! HA! No such luck. When Rick got him positioned next to the corral for my big behind to get on, Lightning backed up as I swung my leg over. I was on his neck. I quickly got off, but not gracefully. I missed my footing on the side of the corral and slid down it. Okay, that hurt. One more try. Big Red would not cooperate. I told Rick that was enough. I went in the house crying like a failure. Took the medication that Rick had brought home, called David, and he's coming over to help me get my riding back on track. I then went back down to the corral, draped my arm across Lightning's back and laid my face on him. He paid no mind as he munched his hay. That's why I said it was ugly enough for Cowboy Doug to hang his hat up forever. He witnessed it all. I was so aggravated with myself. Then, a couple of hours later, Nausea hit. I got so sick. Figured it was from the bite. I hope whatever bit me got sick, too. Later, I'm in the shower and my cat knocks my bath towels in the shower with me. The next morning, my heel got caught under Austin's door as I was closing it. Another ouch. Closing with a Hug and a vote. Come visit me, SADIE * Sterl May 220509 & Rose 252606 June HOTM*.

I am back again..Yesterday Frances and Fancy #153565 did my voting and blogging for me since I was at work and was not able to get online to do HC. I stay at my aunt and uncles Wednesday night so I can work there the next morning..it is to save gas :D Anyway Daisy is doing good and her sore is getting a bit better each time I look at it :) No riding yet on her but I HOPE SOON. I went riding last night on Curly. I was at Sharon's house ;) He did really good for me and I enjoyed myself quite a bit. When we got back from our ride Sharon showed me how you start to teach a horse to lay down...VERY COOL and I plan to teach Daisy sometime. I also picked up the rest of my things that were at Sharon's. Then last night my cousins came over to my aunt and uncle where I work and we had a slumber (or slumberless) party..depending on how you look at it :D Quite enjoyable. Daisy is doing really good with her sore..I believe she is beginning to feel better :) Sorry this is short and I don't have much of a personal message..not much time! Daisy is doing good..I think she is beginning to feel better as far as the infection goes but her sore is obviously still sore..but I think with help it will go away soon!! No riding or anything of that sort obviously but she is really beginning to follow me around and want to be with me. That is very special to me. Tonight I am going to Sharon's to get some of the things that were left at her house when Daisy got moved home and also just to hang out!! Hope you all have a wonderful day. how is wish doing with the biting and kicking other horses? it might help if you can ride wish with a friend. gradually ride closer and closer until you notice wish is beginning to swish her tail or pin ears. then, really turn her head away and give her a pop with your heels or crop to discipline her and try again. gradually she'll get the idea. we did pairs with peek and godiva and godiva was trying to bite and kick like that until she got the idea this wasn't "herd time" it was ride time! as far as kicking, you really have to keep her head up and moving forward so she can't kick as easily. work near one another and just keep gradually getting closer for short a time and increase gradually as she improves. it's important to discipline her every time she snakes her head toward the others or pins her ears. stop it before it explodes! Yesterday I didn't really ride much because we took family pictures :D My cousin was the one who took the pics got some good ones of Curly and I and I also got some nice ones before my cousin came of just Curly. I had given him a bath and he looks really nice!! :) Today I am going to go to work for my aunt and uncle so I won't be coming home till after I got to Sharon's tomorrow so I won't be able to vote on HC. Thanks for you complement on my appaloosa mare "Blue". She is always looking for new friend. This is a great place to make new friend, and get the answers to you horse questions and issues.
I would like to address the one about kicking and biting. As a mare, she is trying to establish dominance in the group. She needs to know when you are on board, that you are the boss, not her. When she throws a kick or a tries to bite another horse while you are riding her, pull her into a tight circle and make her walk in that circle until you feel her release her tightness and drop her head. She will learn that it is easier to behave.

COol on the Amish farm..I have an uncle who is amish :D No Curly is not my horse..I am just riding him for a friend while I am training Beauty at my friends house for my cousins :)
Some of you knew this already but most of you didn't but I am BUYING DAISY!! As you know she is an appaloosa/quarter horse cross, 6 years old mare and her name is Nix-Nux (means Naught) or Daisy (which is what I will call her). I rode her Friday night and she is really smooth and a really nice horse. I saw Bernell (a guy that Sharon knows) work her a bit in the round pen before he got on her and she is QUICK on her feet. She is a smaller horse but I really like her. Easy keeper too. Sharon owned her for a while but sold her because she wasn't going to be big. Sharon said she thinks it is a perfect match for me! I talked to my dad Friday night and he said I have to wait till today to know weather i can have her or not and HE SAID YES!! She is exactly what I wanted!. But she is the two breeds I like..she has a long mane and tail (hehe Sharon and I figured because she is part quarter horse that is the reason for that) and she isn't too huge. Anyway I will try to get a better picture of her later! She is a good horse and the reason the lady is selling her is because she has too many horses (and I think she didn't say but I think she needs the money..hehe). The lady put Daisy at Sharon's so Daisy gets some riding on her. I don't think the lady rode her all that much so she is going to need some work but she is the type of horse if you tell her what to do and she gets stubborn or acts dumb and you tell her that she has no choice she gives in without getting angry like Beauty does =D Daisy is somewhat like Navajo in temperment wise =) I AM SO EXCITED :) Maybe you can tell :D I rode Curly last night as well and he didn't buck one time..guess he is improving :) So happy with him! Not sure exactly when Daisy will be coming here but soon!! Check out her page for pictures and such.
