Hello heres a vote for a beautiful mare
SPROCKET AND FRIENDS UPDATE
Sprocket – This is actually a ride I had a couple days back but since I’m not able to go up and see Sprocket today I decided to use it for my update. I rode Sprocket in the arena that day and somebody had forgotten to put away the jumps. Sprocket who is normally either trying to run away with me or doesn't want to budge and inch picked up this amazing floating canter, I asked for a twenty meter circle which he made perfectly round without much aid from me. But then he got his own ideas he stopped listening to my aids and started cantering to a jump and we almost went over it before I took control and pulled him to the side he did this like three more times before I lowered some of them and let him canter over them like ground poles. Honestly I would have loved to jump but the barn rule is there must be an adult around if you are going to jump and when it comes to my horses safety I do not break the rules. Eventually I ended up dismounting and having Sprocket follow me over the jumps it was more work and less fun but he loved it. After riding I untacked Sprocket and we sat in the arena for a while.

Ramdom Thoughts...........
Oat 'n' Apple Chewies
Treat your horse or pony to these simple squares made of wholesome ingredients. Keep them fresh in the fridge. Remember not to feed too many of any treat too often.
INGREDIENTS:
1 ½ cups unsweetened applesauce
1 cup oat bran cereal or ground oatmeal
½ cup all purpose flour (approx.)
PREPARATION:
Preheat oven to 350F
Oil a 9inch x 9inch square cake pan
Spread the batter evenly in the cake pan and bake for 20-30 minutes. The batter will start to shrink away from the sides and it will be firm to the touch.
Slice into squares while still warm. Keep chewies in the refrigerator in an air-tight container or bag.

Not so mini teeth
This seemed the logical place to proceed after mini bites. Miniature horses would naturally have small hooves, small appetites, right? Right. Small teeth? Not right. Strange as it may seem miniature horses' teeth are almost the same size as their larger counterparts. This may explain one of the reasons why minis often live longer.
A horse's tooth is unlike most (if not all) other creatures. It is not attached to the bone and contrary to a common misconception it does not continuously grow. Rather it works itself out of the gum socket gradually over the course of the horse's lifetime. In most cases literally as without teeth they starve to death.
When the horse eats it grinds its teeth wearing them down. The more wear and tear on the tooth the sooner it wears out. Since mini horse eat so much less but have almost the same size teeth they don't wear out as quickly!

Hi, my name is Pippin and I am running for horse of the month in January. I am a cute but feisty miniature stallion and at 31" tall and 200lbs, I can literally pull my own weight! I love going out with my humans and my favourite activities (after eating, of course!) are driving and jumping. But… really I'm game for anything asked of me. Nothing much scares me and I LOVE new and exciting adventures.
Do I have any faults? If you ask me, of course not! I'm perfect! If you ask mama? Well, she doesn't like me nipping her (oh, but it's so tempting!) and she wishes I were better with water. I'm not too keen on baths or puddles.
Next month I will have been on the Horse Channel for 4 years and I'm the oldest active member. I would greatly appreciate your daily votes and support for me all next month. I plan to educate all my fans on the wonders of minis and I hope to highlight one of my movies each day.

Monday's Ride: This evening I did get to ride (didn't start to rain yet). I figured I am not going to lunge Daisy since this morning's crazy lunge session (I updated about this on my blog: www.musingsofacowgirl. blogspot.com (not spaces or - in the link for those who want to read about it) she did well toward the end. I put her hackamore on and then got the bucket and put it by her. She moved a little but not near like Saturday. I got up on the bucket and placed my hands on her withers and her back and she didn't move. I hopped on and she stayed still. I was so very pleased. Such an improvement over Saturday. I was happy! Then we headed out the back field at a walk. We walked the whole way and I am not sure how long we rode for but she did very well. I was so very happy!! Hehe I said that already but it was such an improvement..I almost couldn't believe it. I think that if I wouldn't have lunged her this morning she would have not done near as well because of all the energy she had. I don't always lunge her but I just had the feeling she was going to do fine :) I think it will depend on how much energy she seems to have on a given day! Hope you have a blessed day! Hello!!
Yesterday afternoon I was working with Daisy a bit and she pinned her ears aggressivly at me. I worked on it then at that moment but then last night I wanted to work with her again..Well I got the chance :D Anyway I took her into the corral and blocked off her run in so she wouldn't go in there and the other area and then I free lunged her. It isn't really big enough to go faster than the trot but it works for what I wanted to do. Before I free lunged her I got her to move her forhand and hindquarters and she did very well. When I asked her to move her hindquarters she didn't even pin her ears..very good! Once I was done with that I free lunged her. Everytime I asked her to change directions she did so by turning to face me and going the other way. It took forever to get Beauty to do that exact thing..hehe and Daisy does it without thinking!! She pinned her ears (as a sign of agression..I am learning the difference between the agressive pinning and when she just had her ears back as though she is listening to me because I do know that when they are down flat that that is not good..and that is what she did..she would do it for a bit then stop but still not good..not sure what is up with that..she did it a few times when I was riding her..the one time was when I was with Sharon and we rode past other horses Daisy pinned her ears..it is a bad habit!) a few times but I took care of that. I think with a little work on that she won't do it after a while!! Anyway I watched her and she lowered her head and was flicking her ears in as she was paying attention to me. I stopped her and turned away from her and she followed me after a few times of doing this. I was so happy. I praiesed her and told her she is a good girl.
I then got a plastic tarp out. I have always wanted to do this with Navajo but never got around to it. I put it on the ground and as I was rolling it out Daisy comes over and sniffs it and puts her one hoof on it even before I was done undoing it. I was happy with that. She didn't even blow at it she was just curious. I got her to walk over it and stand on it and it didn't bother her one iota. I was so proud. Then after I had rolled it up and was doing a few other things in the corral there she was sniffing it and even tasted it once..LOL. She also stepped on it. I had to think that she is very curious but before she really gets scared about anything she first checks it out. I think that is so awesome!! Talk soon Ruth Ann, Navajo and Daisy

I am back again..Yesterday Frances and Fancy #153565 did my voting and blogging for me since I was at work and was not able to get online to do HC.
