Hmm the avatar was tricky! I probably played with it much longer then I should of ;).
Color wise, On the bottom right on the avatar page There is a show/hide color palette. Click on the words and up pops a bunch of colors pick a part of your horse then click the color and your horse can be all one color! you can also use the little sliders and change the color but that is harder.
You can change the size when you pick an object by clicking the bottom right square, if you make it SUPER small then keep going it will actually flip it so it faces the other direction. Then I just used the markings under "face" to give her her spots and stripes.

that fact that she tried to sit on a ferrier cracked me up. A horse tried to lay down on me once when I tried to pick her feet up well she slowly got lower and lower to the floor till I couldnt hold her up anymore ;)...memories..You got a vote. Come visit me, Grace.
