My Horse's Achievements: Getting over his fears and becoming the best horse he can be!

My Horse's Favorite Treat: He loves any type of treat and a great scratch on his neck

My Horse's Favorite Things To Do: He loves to canter fast and jump high

Pet Peeves: He, for some reason, hates being passed by other horses in the riding arena. He always tries to nip them and puts his ears down. He also doesn't like cross ties. He absolutely will not be put on them. We think this is maybe from where he was boarded and must have had something happen to him that makes him not want to be near them. Lavango, for the most part, doesn't like trailers. Where he was from, they used to beat him to force him in. When we were bringing him to a show, he was terrified to go in the trailer and always looked like he expected to be whipped or slapped. Soon, after at least an hour, he got over his fears! :-)

How We Met

He is NOT my horse, even though I wish he was. LaVango used to be boarded at a farm (I don't know the name) where they used to beat and abuse him. He was very scared and shy when he came here, probably from his memories of being abused. LaVango turned out to be one of the best horses I've ever ridden. He is kind, loving, smart, and will do whatever you ask of him. Sadly, he is only here for another few months because he came to our barn on a lease. :-( It will be tough and very sad to watch him leave, but I will cherish the last moments I have with him :-).

..·:¨¨:·. VOTE PIPPIN HOTM.·:¨¨:·. . Hi, my name is Pippin and I am running for horse of the month in January. I am a cute but feisty miniature stallion and at 31" tall and 200lbs, I can literally pull my own weight! I love going out with my humans and my favourite activities (after eating, of course!) are driving and jumping. But… really I'm game for anything asked of me. Nothing much scares me and I LOVE new and exciting adventures. Do I have any faults? If you ask me, of course not! I'm perfect! If you ask mama? Well, she doesn't like me nipping her (oh, but it's so tempting!) and she wishes I were better with water. I'm not too keen on baths or puddles. Next month I will have been on the Horse Channel for 4 years and I'm the oldest active member. I would greatly appreciate your daily votes and support for me all next month. Vote 9 from Petite Fleur & Herd for LaVango WOW are you one gorgeous QH! I miss my first Appendix QH FLASH from my childhood! She was sorrel with flaxen mane & tail and is buried in under the cherry tress where my cousin & I took overnight rides in their fields (600 acres of dairy farm!) The farm still goes but Flash lived till almost 30 years and I still think she was a fantastic mare! THANK YOU FOR MAKING FRIENDS!
