How We Met

My grandpa has ridden horses for all of his life. He rides western and trail rides. But, he's kind of short and doesn't like trail riding horses over 15.2hh. In 2000, his mare gave birth to a beautiful dappled- grey colt. My grandpa let a little girl he knew name him. Because of his dapples, she named him Freckles. When Freckles was old enough, grandpa sent him to his good friend who's a national champion in reining. The man broke him for my grandpa and sent him home. But, the horse was about 16hh by then, and grandpa didn't have a lot of room to keep him there. In 2007, I had to start looking for a new horse because I was getting to be too big for my mare, Piper. My grandpa sent Freckles to his friend's wife who trained him to jump, etc. at a Hunter barn in Tucson, AZ. Then, we got to go to AZ so I could try him out. He was literally a perfect match. We brought him home, and in just 2 yrs. he's now Eventing (Dressage, XC, and SJ) at the Novice Level. As he got older, his coat turned from extrememly dapply to almost pure white. The name "Freckles" didn't really fit anymore, so we named him "Tucson's Dreamcatcher" (aka Tuc) because he was trained in Tucson..
