today i featured a famous quarter horse because someone requested it. i don't own a quarter horse but they are wonderful, of course. my favorite movie version of "black beauty" is the one made in 1994 featuring docs keepin time.
we're so happy to have our french friend, paula, back on HC with her horse "LENA", who is our hotd today! :)Come visit me, Sing & Herd.

Big hello to all. Had a better horsey day today. Sassy Miss Sadie was a good girl. She took the bit without a fight. Put the saddle on without her trying to kick me. She didn't want me to mount, but calmed down and I had a nice ride. Still have to work on her about taking direction. When Austin or Rick are out in the yard, she wants to go to them. Rick rode next. Then Cowboy Doug rode. I told him his sister was next and he said she could ride Star. Funny kid. After I put his sister on Sadie, he got some twine and was trying to rope Star. Had to stop him. He sees no danger. Praying for all. VOTE MARCH HOTM

This is a 'cold wet day' vote from Fancy:) We were hoping to spend some time with the new horsey and get to name him this weekend. But I don't know if the weather is going to cooperate. It is very cold and rainy here, and is expected to continue through the weekend.

The temperature this morning had warmed up to 20* by 7:30. Brutus came out of the doghouse, shivered and went back in.....While running Sadie, yesterday, she kicked at Austin and missed his face by about a foot. I keep warning him not to run up behind her. They have had the warming centers around here open for the homeless people every since one man froze to death in his sleeping bag in 09.They started opening up places for the homeless to go wnen the temps go below freezine. I am going to be doing a lot more walking which I then will not be on the computer. The Doc said he is giveing me three months to be able to walk into his office again, if I am wheel chair in he will make the plans for surgury. I'm doing much better. The first 3 days were so hard. I'm spending more time with Sadie and Star. It does help. I'm so surprised that Star is doing so well. She stays by Sadie.... I had a nice ride on Sadie Monday. She took the bit without giving me trouble. She had some pep in her step. I let Star out of the corral, and she followed every step of the way. I'm training Sadie to neck rein, and she's doing great....Jessica rode today. Lazy Miss Sadie had more pep in her step and trotted alot. Jessica had her at a run, too. Sadie's doing so good. I'm so proud of her. She's filling out and gets prettier by the day....After Jessica's ride, We went to Mark's house. She loved Red, the thoughobred that's still at Mark's. He showed her the saddle he bought off the set of the movie "Tombstone". We then went to Cracker Barrel for my early bday dinner. Austin treated me. Hugs and a vote. Great day to all and a peaceful night with a vote from Fancy♥ We hope you have enjoyed a blessed Christmas with family, friends, and pets:) Isn't all the snow such a lovely gift from above. If it has snowed at your house, enjoy it before it melts and turns to mudd. Fancy and Bindi have been very busy little girls today. Fancy enjoyed her first snow ride ever today. She didn't mind the snow one bit. She wanted to go, go, go! Bindi got lose and mauled a poor squirrel and we don't even know how she got lose. This was the first time she didn't run away when she had the chance. I was very proud of Bindi for staying in our yard.
