How We Met

We got him from phelan, CA from a seller, she said he was 14. We bought him, and the vet said he was 33 years old. I had him for 5 years before he was killed on jan. 18 2009. A friend I thought I could trust said to the ranch owner that she had permission to ride him. Her style of riding was to get the horse to buck and act crazy to make her look like a better rider. She rode him under saddle (something I NEVER did.)nand she claimed he "spooked" (which i STRONGLY disagree with. he was not a spooky horse at all)long story short, he ran and she fell, the saddle slipped and he got his foot stuck in the stirrup, he ran still. The owner of the ranch used to have racehorses and she told me she had never seen a horse go that fast before in her life. In the end, by the time they got Rawhide, he was broken and bleeding. We waited for the vet to arrive, when he did, lo and behold, Rawhide had four torn suspensory tendons. Him being 38 years old, could not be saved. The last thing my "Friend" said to me was, "I cry when any horse dies. Even if it is JUST Rawhide." Havn't spoken to her since. rest in Peace rawhide :(.
