My Horse's Favorite Treat: fruit and cookies

My Horse's Favorite Things To Do: eat!

Pet Peeves: She hates it when my gelding bites her on the rump!

My Horse's motto: Love me, feed me, never leave me

When I Am An Old Horsewoman
I shall wear turquoise and diamonds,
And a straw hat that doesn’t suit me
And I shall spend my social security on
white wine and carrots,
And sit in my alleyway of my barn
And listen to my horses breathe.

I will sneak out in the middle of a summer night
And ride the old bay gelding,
Across the moonstruck meadow
If my old bones will allow
And when people come to call, I will smile and nod
As I walk past the gardens to the barn
and show instead the flowers growing
inside stalls fresh-lined with straw.

I will shovel and sweat and wear hay in my hair
as if it were a jewel
And I will be an embarrassment to ALL
Who will not yet have found the peace in being free
to have a horse as a best friend
A friend who waits at midnight hour
With muzzle and nicker and patient eyes
For the kind of woman I will be
When I am old.

We received 1 ¾” of rain last night-the wind was unbelievable!!! I had to go and get feed and grocery’s yesterday and by the time we were finished it was too hot to ride. I did get fly stuff on the boys and checked the fly mask and then just watched them graze for the evening! Working the weekend but will try to do something with them after work but it will be to muddy to ride. Here is our finial tidbit on the Fabulous Rocky Mountain Horse Breed!
*TOBE was used for breeding until July of his thirty-fourth year, and he passed on his gait, disposition, and other great qualities to his offspring. It has been said that TOBE's progeny followed in his "perfectly-timed" footsteps. TOBE sired many fine horses before his death at the ripe old age of thirty-seven. One outstanding trait passed on was longevity, as many of his offspring were still breeding into their late twenties and early thirties.

I had a dressage show on Saturday. Rose and I have barely been able to ride to prepare for it, but we still did really well! We did Intro A and B as well as dressage seat equitation. We were the only ones in all of our classes, so we got three 1sts:) Our scores were in the high 50's, which for not much practice is really good. We both really enjoyed the show!
I added two pictures from the show on Rose's page.

Whiskey’s mane & tail change colors several times in the year by going lighter then darker. His body color changes as well. He truly loves his bath time and grooming, he trailers well in any type I load him in, and will load without heisting at all. He is also my bareback horse. Perfect back for it so if I don’t feel like putting the saddle on I can always just get myself up on him and go at any time. He is the type that will come to you every time from the field or anywhere. I guess that’s the treat hound in him lol.
* The Rocky Mountain Horse breed originated in the United States in the late 1800s, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Kentucky. At the time of its beginnings, there was no understanding of the need to document anything about these horses. The people living in this region were quite unaware that one day their utility horses would become the foundation of a special breed of horse. The existence of these horses was practically a secret for many years to all but the inhabitants of this region.
Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

Few things about Whiskey: The 1st few times I rode Whiskey my arms were wore out and tired. I was thinking “man what in the world”. He did not and could not Neck rein. He was very hard in the mouth, no flex in his neck but Karla & Tim told me he needed that kind of work. Tim felt he didn’t ride him in collection and so on. He was Tim’s first horse. We would get under the canopy of the trees on the trails and he would do great with my seat aids which I was happy about. That is how I ride him, with my seat and leg aids. I guess we all are supposed to do that RIGHT!!!! I then started planning my next few months of teaching him to neck rein. I just went back to the beginning and put him in an “O” ring snaffle and took it from there. Every day his personality would shine and he entertained Cliff & me with his antics! Thank you for your support we appreciate it!

Happy Monday
Trotting by with a warm morning vote. It's suppose to be a nice day today! How's your weather? Farrier is gonna come out soon to trim hooves, with all this dry weather now I have to apply rain maker on Darby's hooves daily. His coat is looking really shinny! We've been mixing red cell in his feed, sure does work wonders. I've been meaning to post some more pictures of him but just haven't got around to it yet, soon! I hope all you guys are having fun, getting lots of riding time in and hope all is well!
Love and a vote!

I know just how you feel....I have been walking in your boots, too. My Dad started having issues, then my sister died, and Dad died on her birthday, husband started having knee issues, after being hurt at work in his back, and they took him out of work in a wheel chair. He had to have both knees and then a hip replaced, my oldest son I was driving 200 miles, 3 times a week, for dialysis, and finally got transplants, but developed a infection, and spent 6 mts in the hospital 4 hours away. Plus then my other son David passed away, and with everything else, I had to sell 8 horses of mine own. So I will say more prayers for you and your family.

Praying for your dad and your health issue's I bet you and your daughter whip Pumpkin into great shape, he's gonna love being one of your family members ! Shawn my horse shoer comes tomorrow to trim Lilly's feet, so glad because she really needs it, won't be spending much time in the house this week, a skunk went under the house last night and must have gotten scared about something and let the good times fly, I have all the door and windows open, it is suppose to get to the mid 80* this week and cloud up on Sunday, I hope so that might give it enough time for the smell to disapate I hope, Jack was felling good this morning ar breakfast a chicken waled through and he got some air under those front feet and tried to head butt it, it was pretty funny, had a wonderful Memorial Day, went to the Mosier Memorial service at the cemetary then came home for and took a really long ride, the whole barnyard went everyone was tired when we got home. went to a really fun BBQ on Saturday at a house of one of my old Stable friends alot of the stable friends were there it was fun, have a wonderful week, love Suz and Lilly

Miracle's update:
Healing Hearts Animal Rescue and Refuge.
"Friends, it is with heavy heart that we bring you the news of Love's passing. Once we got her safe to our refuge, she started to seize. She had been carefully and thoughtfully examined by 2 vets, as well as monitored 24 hours a day by our staff. We agreed that she needed to be set free, as not to harm herself and to be allowed to pass with dignity. She was surrounded by people who cared, loved and honored her life. She went over the bridge under the warm sun, in the arms of those who saved her from abuse. She was not alone." Love and a vote.

I am so sorry to hear about your dad, but excited about you taking on another horse! I sure hope your surgery goes well ♡ I was able to get the boys out and brush and put their fly stuff on. They mowed our yard for us and it gave their hooves some relief from being wet. I had to have citronella candles going to keep mosquitoes at bay. Flies aren’t as bad as you would think but bad enough. Hugs & a vote for you!!!

Hi Ella Bee, here's a vote for ya. Oh wow, so sorry to hear all the bad news. Yes, sometimes our parents just know when it's time and want to move on! I went through it with both of mine, 9 months apart! So sad! Praying that your surgery will be smooth and easy and cancer free! Oh wow, a new horse! That's awesome! Good luck with him. What events will you be doing with him? Well woke up to the rains, but it all stopped by 9 am and got sunny and humid, but that did dry it up. Got ole'blue down to Jimmy's today, so hopefully it'll sell over the weekend! Came home and only lunged them, it was so hot and humid, in less than 20 minutes they each were soak'n'wet! Then hosed them off and turned them out, up to almost a full hour now of grass/pasture time. Then mowed one pasture and one side of the indoor arena. Tomorrow my farrier is coming in the am to do Paige. Then it's hopefully ride, supposed to only be about 64 degrees tomorrow. Then mow another pasture and the other 3 sides of the indoor. Love working outdoors now! Not like in the winter, freezing my vocal cords off! Marion and the blondes.

Hi Ella, sorry to hear about your dad's declining health. That can't be fun to go through :( how awesome you picked up a new little horse called Pumpkin! Sounds like that name is quite fitting considering how overweight he is lol. I went and saw Koot yesterday and let him run and roll. He was having a good time flipping his head and kicking up his heels lol. Hopefully I'll get a little ride in tomorrow :) Voted. XOXO Danya and Koot

Cindy, so sorry you're having to have surgery (yes, wait till fall) and VERY sorry you're Dad's not doing well. Yes, wait till you have plenty of time to work Bub on the trailering. Bill Dorrance stated horses are very forgiving, but they have the second longest memory of any animal.

Hello to all. Sorry if I leave anyone out but I'm not supposed to be on here right now-shhh!-but I never seem to get the time!
My dad is slowly declining in health and is praying to die. It is time he goes.
I found out I'm going to have to have surgery to remove my uterus and possibly my only ovary due to monstrous fibroids. Usually those are noncancerous but due to my cancer history, the doctor will have it checked. So because of that possibility, instead of laparoscopic surgery I think I will take the incision so he can remove it in one piece. This will set me back around 6-8 weeks. No riding, no lifting, no mowing, no heavy chores at all! A.K.A. Worthless! So I have decided to put it off until after the summer and 4H and new granddaughter arrives.
The horses are good, healthy, and so shiny! I just looked at them-so pretty in the sun. They are in excellent health and dappling too! I haven't tried Bub in the trailer lately which I need to be more consistent but I can't be in a time crunch which is what I've been in lately. Being in a hurried state would be worse than not at all. If he doesn't make it to 4H this year, it's a shame but fine. We just picked up another horse, Pumpkin, to show too. He is a fat QH guessing 250 pounds overweight! Daughter and I started working him yesterday. So now 3 horses and a two horse trailer! Unless we hitch a ride, someone is out!
I hope all is going well for all of you. I will try to get on here more. I know I'll be on after surgery a lot-that's not the way I want to do it, but it is what it is! Leaving a vote! Have a good day.

Come visit me, Ella Bee & My Thirty Six.

It has been spring here had a 15 minute storm around 8 last night, thunder lightning and a soaker rain, pretty refreshing this morning, the other night we had hail rain, thunder and lightning, that one lasted a little longer with alot more rain.
Made another trail obstacle took Lilly 2.5 hours to finally go through it, it is a gate of those swimming pool noodles, kinda cool, can't believe she was so stubborn especially because of some of the tree branches we ride through in the orchard, Maybe because she can't eat these as she passes through LOL Hope you all have a lovely week, love Suz and Lilly

The entire garden is planted now except for the peppers, will do those tonight, working on a project as we speak using a product called Light Hoof it is for really muddy areas, it gets super muddy and slippery right before Lilly comes in the barn last year did a 12-12 area using this product under her over hang before she enters her stall now I'm just doing the 6-12 walk up area right before that, she should keep her feet mud free this winter unless she ventures out further into the pasture, after I finish this project today gonna take a quite ride , I will work on the orchard tomorrow !!! have a beautiful day Suz and Lilly
