Color: Chestnut. She has a star, a hind-right cornet marking and a bird catcher spot on her belly.

Type of Riding: We're retired novice-level eventers, and are now working on show jumping and hunter under saddle. We also field/fox hunt on occasion, as well as saddling up and hitting the trails cowboy-style.

My Horse's Achievements: Penny achieves something every time we're working together. Whether we're conquering water jumps, ditches, ground tying or even just clipping her ears without a fuss, I couldn't be more proud!

My Horse's Favorite Treat: Penny loves sour Warheads, peppermints and carrots. She's no fan of apples, unfortunately.

My Horse's Favorite Things To Do: Penny, like every horse, loves snacking; she also loves resting her head on "Mama's" chest and being loved on. Penny's essentially a lapdog. She'll jump over anything you put in front of her.

Pet Peeves: Penny loathes having her ears clipped.

How We Met

Penny and I met in February of 2006; she was a green two year-old and I, myself, was a green ten year-old rider. Penny was recommended by our trainer, and it was love at first sight. Penny didn't have any mare-ish attitude about her, and she was extremely sane for a green jumper in the cross country pasture! We leased her for months after, and on Thanksgiving day of 2006, while on vacation in New Mexico, my grandmother called my trainer and told her to get Penny ready to bring home! Penny's my best friend. We grew up together, in the show ring and out. She's now headed on to be an eight year-old mare and I'm on the road to getting my driver's license this summer, when I turn 16! I wouldn't trade my precious girl for the world - she's my mentor, my best friend and essentially my other half..

Lap Horse I love that part about her wanting to be a lap dog! I think a lot of horses I know are so lovey dovey with their people they would be lap horses given the chance to curl up on a couch with us! She sounds like a great horse!
