♥ I can’t seem to find the picture I wanted to post of Whiskey bowing?!?! I may have deleted it from my phone thinking I had saved it to my computer…I will leave this one up and change it before I leave work Sunday afternoon. I will be on vacation for 2 weeks and I want a picture of whiskeys whole body for the new comers dropping by!
I rode Whiskey in Deacon’s bridle yesterday. I have used an “O” ring snaffle for nearly 2 years on him. He did very well with the short shank curb on! When I first got Whiskey he was so hard in the mouth. I tried various bits on him and finally said “I need to go back to the basics with him” so that is how this all came about!

♡ what a beautiful weekend in Texas! 70 Saturday and 74 Sunday. Friday after work I was going to get Cliff to ride with me to pick up Jason and had a blow out about a mile from my house-wow. I was thinking at that point maybe this isn’t starting out so good! I was an hour late picking him up. After that everything went really well. I love hearing Jason say Deacon, Whiskey and Rockets names in that 2 ½ year old voice!!! So cute. He petted and helped us feed Friday and Saturday. I didn’t ride until after we took Jason back Sunday morning. Got home and rode Deacon for several hours around the house. It was so beautiful!!! I hope everyone had a nice weekend and I am wishing these nice temps to move your way!!! Happy MLK Day as well…

Good Monday morning ☂ I thought I would let everyone know that I put Whiskey on the calendar to run for July HOTM!!!! Yes, I will be voting from my phone on off days so that will be a challenge, but at least 5 days a week I can actually blog so I hope everyone will help me out in June. A Saturday vote for you!
I had such a nice day Friday. It took me 3 hours to curry and brush out all 3 horses then our farrier came and everyone had their hooves taken care of. Deacon is the only one that gets shoes. Whiskey & Rocket have always gone barefoot their whole lives. I personally think Rocket needs shoes but Cliff doesn’t so it’s his horse and I have to respect what he wants that way. I did not ride I didn’t have time after all that! Hopefully soon I can!

History on the Gorgeous Akhal-Teke

The Akhal-Teke evolved about three thousand years ago in southern Turkmenistan where they are the national emblem. They are named after the nomadic tribe that bred them and are found mostly in Turkmenistan and Russia. These beautiful horses adapt to severe, climatic conditions and remain to be one of the oldest and purest breed of horse still living today. They are thought to be the predecessors of the Arabian and English thoroughbred breeds. Due to their endless stamina and the ability to withstand great extremes of temperature they were originally bred as war mounts and later for racing. Today the Akhal-Teke is used in all competitive equine sports including endurance, dressage, jumping, and eventing. Jasmine & her owner, is one of our trail riding partners. 6 weeks ago I mentioned in a blog that Jasmine, a Palomino TWH mare, was lost at Stone Mtn State Park during a riding trip. Jasmine walked away while her owner was assisting another riding partner, who was pinned under her horse after it's back hoof slipped into a hole on the trail. No one was seriously injured, but Jasmine was lost. It is a relief to know Jasmine was found September 26 and back at her home that morning. Jasmine has lost about 150 lbs. The saddle slid under her belly which caused a sore across her back. She was on Fox8 news last night. Both Jasmine and her owner looked very happy!

When I see horse people that I have met only once or twice, I always remember their horse first and then I most often have to ask them for their name again. Sometimes I can remember the horse's name but I forget the person's name. Do you ever have that problem? It's kind of awkward because I can talk to them about their horse, and call their horse by name, but I forgot their name.

The profile photo shown today on Little Cowboy & Trigger's page is of them presenting the US Flag at our last fun show this past Sunday.
Little Cowboy & Trigger were the only horse & rider team ready for the job of presenting the flag, so they went it alone. It was very nice to see that flag fly, but we hope to have more horse & rider teams ready to present flags next year.
I have seen some horse & rider flag team pics in the VHS on HC. Do you have a horse & rider flag team in your area or have you carried any flag by horseback? It is fun! About 18 or so years ago, I carried our team flag by horseback, during parades.

Hey how are you? waz up?
its been awhile! well I have some news! This past week Comanche has been antcy, tossing his head, and bucking. I feel off twice this while galloping onch it hurt! lol... So back to the point I decided to do some research on why he may he acting in this way. And the reason is he hasn't had his wolf teeth pulled out and his teeth filled plus the bit I used is a little large for him which probably was rubbing on his wolf teeth! I'm so glad its not a behavior problem!

glad to hear from you again! Have you started school yet?
School seems to go on forever and ever and its been cutting my horsey time down to minimum and just think I still have 176 days of school left! haha! The other day I let Pride loose in the pasture with the english saddle for several hours and let the sturrips dangle he did wonderful!~ Comanche was rode in the western saddle again that thing is so squeaky!
I found breaches at Goodwill for three dollars!!!!

Paige was awesome today in her lesson. those roll backs really sharpened her up yesterday on her lope departures. Indy was very good also. Mowed around the indoor and half the lawn, then it started to rain. Kids were out, very cool out today and a nice breeze, so no flies! Aragon, here's a vote for ya. Well, it was a great show. Both Indy and Paige got lot's of national lifetime points on them. Indy had 3 classes a day and placed well in all of them. Paige had 5 classes a day and placed very well and even won a few. Got a 2nd in our Western pleasure on sunday and so did Karen in the open pleasure junior horse class. Between the two of them, I put 54 national points on them. Very happy about that. Spent the day cleaning out the trailer and over the next few have to re-pack. hi everyone! I would like to present the L5 Youth Ranch in Nebraska. It specializes in caring for kids in need and abused and unwanted horses its a faith-based non-profit organization that also brings the kids to meet their Saviour! L5 stands for Luke chapter 5 in the Bible here's a segment I thought has a lot of trust and faith! And getting into one of the boats, [the one] that belonged to Simon (Peter), He requested him to draw away a little from the shore. Then He sat down and continued to teach the crowd [of people] from the boat.
4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon (Peter), Put out into the deep [water], and lower your nets for a haul.
