Hi, left a vote. I posted a couple of pics from yesterday of Amber. She had been in her stall without any turnout for 4 days! I turned her loose in the arena yesterday, and of course she ran around and rolled a lot! I stayed in the arena with her the entire time, just stood in the middle of it. I just let her be a horse, just running around and snorting, rolling, that kind of stuff. She finally relaxed about 20 to 25 minutes in the arena. I then walked up to her, and gave her some love and talked to her. I then walked off, she came with me, no lead rope, just her walking next to me. When I stopped, she stopped. There were two poles set up at the other end of the arena. She didn't go near those poles when she was running around. So, of course, I am going to try to get her down to those poles. So, since she is walking with me, I start heading towards one of those poles. We would walk a little bit, then stop, then walk, then stop, kind of thing. All was going well, we were half way there, when we both could hear the horses outside running! She looked at me, I said "go on, go see what is up", she took three steps to the side and away from me, and then she took off running. She checked it out, and then came back to me. Then I started heading to the pole. We did it! Got her to walk up to the pole, she sniffed it, and then just stood there with me. It was great! I also paid her off yesterday, and she will be coming home tomorrow evening! Can hardly wait! Come visit me, Toby & Amber.

Hi, left a vote. Prayers are with all of those affected by today's tornado in OK.
So, I had actually put a little money down on Amber when I rode her for the first time. That allowed me to do a trial with her, but also give me time to find a ride for her. I have no trailer. So, today, I paid her off, and on Wednesday evening she will be coming to my barn. Sorry for any confusion.Come visit me, Toby & Amber.

Fancy and I enjoyed a cloudy evening! We were overdue for this show practice and time just hanging out. Fancy did not freet for Trigger one bit, even though Trigger screamed murder every time we got out of his sight. We are expecting rains and clouds all week. But the weekend may be nice. We will try to practice a little each day. It was so much fun! And today was the first day Fancy was ridden since her heel injury. She was great. Like she never missed a beat. I am glad I did not rush her.

Had some Sadie time today. We both need it everyday. It's getting hot here, so I didn't ride. I put the halter on her and walked her off the property. She was a little nervous, so we took it slow, stopping when she needed to to look around and see that she was okay. Neighborhood dogs were barking at us. She walked a little fast on the way back to the house. Had to keep stopping her to slow her down. She loved it. Going to walk her more often to get her use going off the property. Going to work up to riding her. Last time I rode her off the property, she was nervous and wanted to fight me. She should trust me more now. Hugs and a vote. HI, left a vote. Posted two more pics of Amber today, one in black and white, and the other with my headstall that I think looks great on her.
Got to ride Amber today. Had to ride in Tasha's saddle as I forgot mine today. LOL I got on, realized that the stirrups were way to long, but I am lazy today, so I just rode in the saddle just didn't use the stirrups. Amber walked right by the spooky spot from Tuesday with out an issue today! No one was out there today, so the mounting block I use, was left in the middle of the arena. As we are coming out of the turn in one end of the arena, Amber sees the mounting block in the middle of the arena, and snorts at it, and then jumps to the side! Silly Amber, I just used that block to mount, and now you are like what is that!? Too funny. So again, like the other day, I just bent her head around to a stop. Then we walked off, just stayed to the outer part of the arena, when she relaxed I then started to circle the block, at a walk, each time getting a little closer to it. After three circles, she then was like hey, we are close to that block, jump to the side! I got her to stop, looking at it straight on, just made her stand there, she snorted, but stood there, then I asked her to take a couple of steps towards it, she did, snorted, I stopped her, stood there again looking at it, repeated that step again, we are now about 10 feet from it, I ask her to walk towards it, she did, she walked right up to it, sniffed it, then used it to scratch her face with! That took a whole of 5 min to do. We then walked off, and she was ok with it the rest of the ride. I then told her, "Ok Amber, legs are hurting time to end the ride", she then walked right over to the mounting block and stopped! Awesome! It felt great to accomplish something else with her today, only our 5th ride.Come visit me, Toby & Amber.

Went out to check on Sadie when I got home from work last night. She'd torn her fly mask off. It lasted 10 days. Hope to someday move away from the egg ranch. The flies are horrible. Hi, left a vote. Got to ride Amber today, rode her in my saddle, pad, headstall and bit. Took a pic of her in the cross ties with my saddle and pad and posted it on here. Anyway, she was a little nervous when I got on her today. Both ends of the arena were open like last time, and she went right by the spooky end from last time with out hesitation or batting an eyelash. It was the other end today that was spooky! LOL! We went sideways 3 times today, nothing I couldn't handle, didn't make me nervous, I just bent her head around in a circle until she stopped. Then we would go over to the spot, let her check it out, and then she was fine the rest of the day. I had to have tight reins at the beginning of the ride, but as she relaxed I was able to get more slack in the reins. She relaxed in about 8 minutes. Nice and calm and easy going the rest of the time. At the end of the ride, I stopped her in the spooky spot and she just stood there, no big deal, didn't move or nothing. Nice and relaxed. So proud of her, and well me too! Good ride today. Come visit me, Toby & Amber.

I hope all of you moms had a beautiful Mother's Day. I had to work, but didn't mind. Being a mom and loving my sons and they loving me in return is what makes it so special. An emotional week this week. My oldest son, a Msgt in the Air Force, leaves the end of this week for 3 years in Germany. He and his oldest son celebrate their birthdays this week, too. Sassy Miss Sadie's doing good. She's keeping her fly mask on, but has torn holes in it. I dumped her water trough out to clean it and found her old fly mask in it, again. While I filled the trough with fresh water, she blew bubbles in it. So silly. Heat's hitting triple degrees next week. Time to buy another misting system. HI, left a vote. Went out today saw two horses. Fell in LOVE with the mare, bought her! I will get her next weekend. She is the sweetest horse! She is gentle, calm, kind, sweet, loving, very willing under saddle, and wants to please you. I felt so comfortable on her! My daughter Allison rode her, she had the biggest smile on her face! She loves her too! So happy, can hardly wait to get her next weekend! Come visit me, Toby & Amber.

Big hi to all. Jessica came out Wednesday with her boyfriend, David. Sadie was bad. While Jessica picked her hooves, Sadie yanked her back hoof away. She bucked a couple of times, too, when Jessica rode her. She did okay with me. The strap on the saddle pinched a bruise on the inside of my left knee. Shouldn't have worn shorts. Found the missing fly mask, too. Jessica and I dumped Sadie's water trough to clean it out, and there it was. It had sunk to the bottom of the trough. I didn't think to check there.
