I'm so happy about the new corral panels! Sadie's happy, too. The extra 30 feet made a huge difference. Going to get another panel as soon as I can. Leaving love and votes. Happy Friday!

Yay! Corral panels are up. A friend helped me with them. She brought a 5 year old girl named Rosie with her. Lisa said Rosie has the mental capacity of a 2 year old. She brought a bag of carrots for Sadie and fed them to her. Rosie, also, rode bareback. My internet is running soooo slow. Taking forever to vote. Hope you're all doing well. Love to each of you and a vote.

The wind is horrible and cold. Rained last night. Sadie's corral is flooded, again. Rick's suppose to pick up my new corral panels today. Those panels will be connected on the west side at a slightly uphill angle. Should give her dryer space. Anxious to get the corral expanded, too. Have a wonderful Monday. Love and a vote.

Got to put the door back on the hay shed. It fell off the hinges. What I repaired is still holding. I started Sadie back on Psyllium pellets, today. Something I have to keep up with. Too many horses have been lost to colic. Leaving love, always and a vote.

I let Sadie out, after work, to get some exercise, to roam, and of course, plunder. The only thing she got into was the hay shed. I had to keep shooing her away. After an hour and a half, I put her up, giving her apples and carrots. Hoping to get that door back on, today. Love and a vote.

Jumping back to the end of Summer 2014, I was riding my mom's bicycle (she can't ride it anymore after several back surgeries and my bike was too small) and took it down around our driveway. At this time, Cinnamon was still in the pasture there, so I was going to see her. It was starting to rain so I figured I better not spend too much time with Cinnamon once I got down the hill. Next thing I knew, I blacked out and when what seemed like I "woke up", I was laying on the driveway, knee had piercing pain, my arm was very badly scraped and the bike was on top of me. I got up slowly, I didn't get knocked out, but it happened so fast that it was almost like I passed out or something, but I didn't. Maybe I closed my eyes, but I don't know for sure. I was wearing a t-shirt, so I could see that my left arm was horrible looking. It wasn't bleeding, but close to it and I'm a big baby about blood, especially if it is mine and it hurts (lol). Nothing seemed to be broken, but my left knee had excruciating pain. I was able to get up and walk through the yard to get out back of our house to the pavilion. That was where my family was sitting. The jeans I was wearing were somewhat tight, so I couldn't roll them up to see my knee, so I changed to shorts quick and then I saw my knee. I was thankful I was wearing jeans when it happened or my knee would've looked worse than my arm. My whole knee was black and blue. Like a huge bruise. It hurt at any slightest touch and constantly felt like pins and needles. The bike was OK but I was beat up pretty bad. This was after the whole accident with Cinnamon, so this was another factor that played in the reason why I didn't ride Cinnamon again till Winter. Honestly, I was more afraid that I wouldn't be able to ride than I was of Cinnamon. Until Summer 2015, my knee was still healing. The bruise was fully gone by Winter in 2014, but the pins and needles and numbness stuck around till last year. That's when I had another accident.....

About Eddie: Eddie was an 18 year old Percheron who was a member of HC for 8 years. He was from E Ca. and stood 18.2 hh. I met Eddie when I first joined HC in 2010. He was HOTM several times. I've enjoyed his adventures and reading about his gentle spirit. 2000 lb. Eddie passed away from colic on January 19th. He leaves behind his loving friend Pippin, a miniature horse. who now grieves for his best friend. Eddie touch the hearts of many including me. I didn't have the privilege of meeting him personally. I went to see that grey gelding that afternoon. He was in a pasture with two draft horses and a little pony who constantly chased him, nipping at him and kicking him. I couldn't even get near the big grey horse to look at him or see if he was friendly. My mind instantly said NO when I couldn't even get near the horse. After all this looking for horses, I was getting discouraged... A good horse would cost way too much and the freebies were nothing but skittish or had problems. As we were about to leave, our farrier said, "wait! I know one more horse!" SO we followed him to the next farm a few miles down the road. It was sort of fancy. Big concrete entrance with gates... the house was like a mansion... I thought, "no way this is gonna be a free horse.... and obviously these people have money. why would they want to give away a horse if there's nothing wrong with it?" We got out and walked up to the gate into the pasture. The ground started rumbling and a gypsy horse ran out to greet us. He was huge. At this time, I started wondering where the horse we were supposed to look at was. A few minutes later, trailing behind the gypsy was a little brown mare. She walked slowly and carefully and whinnied as she started a slow trot towards the gate. She happily slobbered on my hand as I petted her nose. I knew this was the one. "What's her name?" I asked. "Cinnamon," was the reply.

Trying to stay awake, today. I worked last night. When I got home, I let Sadie out of her corral and let her run. She ran for about 10 minutes or so. What a beautiful sight! Can't let her out to roam around until I get the door back on her hay shed. Monday's my next day off, so hoping to have it repaired by then.
Rick's picking up the 2 corral panels on his next days off. Holidays are busy where he works. He's working on his schedule days off. I have a 10 hour shift tomorrow, too. Austin did a great job of keeping Sadie's water trough clean. So thankful.

Such a long day, yesterday. So wonderful to be back home. It was hard leaving my mom. She's not herself, anymore. Becoming feeble.
Scruffy was happy to see me. It took my cats a few minutes. Sadie didn't seem to notice I'd been gone. They had Austin taking care of them, so they all were content. The rain here has made a mess of Sadie's corral. Can't let her out, because she tore on of the doors off of my hay shed, and I haven't had a chance to work on it. She tore down her mister, too.
Thanks for being there. Leaving love and a vote.

~Monday, January 4th Newsletter~

going to go ahead and do the newsletter today because I'llbe busy tomorrow. LOTS of updates to the calendar.

Karma hasn't been on HC, so Eli (270057) and Claypso (279264) will be having a friendly battle for HOTM.

February: Calypso (279264) & Eli (270057)
March: Lily (268192)
April: Lord Aramis Rainier (278859)
May: Payday Parlay (180956)
June: OPEN
July: OPEN
August: OPEN
September: Eli (270057)
October: OPEN
November: BJ (265126)
December: Copper (276918)

Because I have to blog the newsletter today, as well as my personal blog for Eli's HOTM run, I'll double-up and blog both here in the newsletter. To make it fair, I'll also blog info about both horses.

Eli~ I am a 15 year old mini horse stallion. I don't do much outside the pasture, but I like to eat, so I don't mind. This year my owner says we'll be doing some sort of training, so I don't know what to think of that, but maybe it could be fun, right?

Calypso~ I am a 2 year old paint horse mare. I will begin training when I turn 3. I bet my owner is excited for that! She's already been sitting on me, which I don't mind too much.

Next time I blog the newsletter, which I hope to blog it again this week, I'll try and get a vote count from both of the horses running for HOTM, so we can see what the stats are.

Now to continue Eli's story. Today it will be shorter because of the newsletter.
I jumped out of the Jeep after having to ask my mom if he really said what I heard and if he really meant it. Walking around the back side of the house, I saw a fluffy black little horse. He was lazily chewing on bits of grass in his tiny pasture. The size of his pasture was not even half the size of our front yard. Maybe this could work... but we had to get him by Sunday-and it was already Wednesday. We had no fence-or barn. How could we get a project that big done in less than 4 days?
As my mind came back from wondering about everything, I was introduced to this cute and fluffy boy. His name was WarHawk. His "barn" was a little dog house. When I saw him and his living conditions, I knew I wanted him. Even if he did have a nipping problem. When we got home, plans were set immediately to build a pasture and barn. Unfortunately, our less than 4 days that we had to work, the weather was terrible! The rain was ridiculous. When looking back on it, I don't know how we got it all done. It's definitely amazing. The pasture wasn't too much work, but the barn wasn'tgoing to be finished by Sunday. It was already Saturday night and the doors weren't even built for the barn yet. Surely it wouldn't hurt to not have everything done in time for WarHawk's arrival. Sitting in church that morning, I couldn't wait to get home because my first horse was coming. I wanted to be there when he arrived. BUT, the arrival of this new horse, also meant picking a new name. I didn't want this poor little horse to be stuck with the name, WarHawk

I guess I'll be running Eli for HOTM now. Karma hasn't been on HC, as far as we can tell, SO to start off Eli's HOTM run:

The story of how I came to know Eli. So, sorry if I copy Cimarron's HOTM run too much. I just enjoyed stories about him so much that I'd like to share my story about Eli. I'm sure it's not as exciting, but hope you all enjoy.
I'm sorry in advance if I can't blog everyday or miss blogging to a few of you.
The beginnning of Eli's story is somewhat bumpy, but we had our good times.
I was nine years old (2009) and ever since I could walk as a baby, I knew I wanted a horse. There's something about a horse that makes you feel like you have the best friend in the world. It boosts your confidence being able to control a 1,000 lb animal and be its friend. I wanted to have that experience. My dad and grandfather have a construction business. They used to build houses, but since then because of some problems, they have had to work for Lowe's. They haven't built a house for years because of the economy. Living on 1 acre of land,I thought it was hopeless to have a horse of my own to keep at our house. We only had just a small area in the front yard that could be pasture land, but it was not nearly big enough for a big horse. So I put my dream on hold. One day, back when my grandfather and dad were still building houses, my dad came home and him, my mother, and brother were keeping some secret from me. I had no idea wha this secret was and it bothered me. Next thing I knew, we were taking our Jeep Wrangler on an "adventure" supposedly "exploring" like we did a lot when we had the Jeep. This was a Wednesday I think. After what seemed like a FOREVER long drive, we were driving back a private lane through the woods. This was when I knew that my family had a plan-this wasn't just another one of our "adventures". Iwasn't sure what this plan was though, because my mom was pregnant with my little brother and why would my family want to get a horse now?
As we went over a very small bridge that looked like it would fall down with anymore weight put on it, I decided to wait and see what this mystery was and quit with the hundreds of questions that no one would answer.
We arrived at the house settled at the end of the private drive, and a man came out of the house to talk. He looked at me and asked, "ready to come see the horse?"
You couldn't believe the excitement I had when he said that. I couldn't wait to get out of the Jeep and RUN to see MY horse.
The story shall contine tomorrow :-)

Come visit me, ~~HOTM and HOTD support/news page~, Cinnamon (270037) voting Lilly(268192) for HOTM & Eli(270057) Thanks for HOTM!.
