♡♥♡ Hello & A Whinny to you all! Feels great to blog from a computer after using my phone for 2 weeks…The main part of my vacation was to rest and have plenty of horsey time and I surely accomplished that. If I was not able to ride I had grooming/spa time for them. Each morning I fed in day light instead of dark like I have to do when I’m working. Each day no matter the weather I spent at least an hour at the evening feeding time just watching/listening to them eat as the sun would set. I did get to ride at Lake Whitney (McCown Valley) and my friend took a picture of me and Deacon but it didn’t turn out so well. I will get it added to my pictures later. I mostly rode around my home area, I have so much land around me that I can ride for hours. Another horsey item on the very windy and cold days was watching RFD from 10 am to 1 pm and caught up on the horse programs I love so much!!! I learn a little bit from all of the trainers!!!! For that matter I learn something from any horse person I run into or have the pleasure of riding with! I won’t bore you with others things not related to horses so have a wonderful weekend!!!

Have a wonderful day & week! I rode very early Sunday morning-at the break of dawn. I only rode Whiskey so Deacon gets his ride later this week. It was very nice and quite that time of the morning! I gave him a full spa treatment after! He looked beatiful! Then I sprayed down Deacon (he had a bath-spa time Thursday)and he felt much better after that!

Deacon is kicking up his heals with joy! That (HOTD)picture was taken at Mccown Valley Lake Whitney Texas-he loves to ride there. There is 3200 achers to ride with camp gounds for horses. There are stalls and pinic areas at each cite. Wonderful place and Deacon is relaxing and grazing before we took off riding again! Thank you everyone for voting for Deacon!

Thanks for voting Scotty HOTD, his owner is visiting today and he will get treats & lots of attention today. Scotty has done many things. 3 years ago he was a kids horse. Since then he has participated in some parades and Buffalo Soldiers presentations. Every one seems to like him very much.
Fancy seems to like Scotty too much. The first evening with Scotty, I was not very happy! Fancy did not want to come to me and I thought Fancy was going to starve for not eating. Each day she gets closer to her normal self again. The only thing now, Fancy seems to be a little skiddish, which is not normal for my girl. I have taken her out on walks each day that Scotty has been here. I rode Fancy around the block yesterday and she was very good, but a little hyper to go. I stopped and took her bridle off to let her graze for a while too.
I have been dealing with horses for almost 20 years with plenty of horses and never had my toe stepped on. Well, guess what? Dog gone if Scotty didn't step on the tip of my boot Friday evening. I believe he was very aware of it too! Gonna work on his ground manners:~)
Any riding going on this weekend for you? If I get the opportunity, I better take it!

King Kong was very bad yesterday. King did not want to listen to my brother and my brother's friend wanted to help, so he got on King. While my brother's friend was riding King the horse reared and they fell back. He is ok, only suffered whiplash and soreness. We don't know what got into King. When he reared, there was no bit pressure at all. So he could have moved in any direction and he chose up :(

Fancy was very good. My son has ridden her. He has gotten bored riding in the corral, so we walk around the block and through the car wash. My son loves to ride her. He would like me to turn him lose. But I don't think Fancy or my son are ready for that. Because she is still very young and I know my son does not have experience in case something did frighten her. But so far she has been so wonderful on his rides out. I don't take that for granted and I pray that she remains steady.

FANCY'S PERCEPTIONS:

Fancy and Frances are leaving a vote for your beautiful horse today.
Everything that I did with Fancy Wednesday, I dedicated to Joanna's memory.
When Fancy walked to meet me at the gate, I thought about Pixie and Brisco not being able to see their loved friend meet them at the gate again. As I picked out Fancy's hooves all I could think about was Pixie Dust and Brisco. Wondering if they understand the absence of the constant source of love in their life.
As I worked cleaning Fancy's corral, I thought of my granddad telling me once, "The empty wagon cries the loudest." I asked him, "Granddad, what in the world does that mean?" And he explained to me, if I listen, I will hear that a wagon bearing a full load makes very little to no sound. And the wagon that is empty creeks and squeaks loudly. He explained to me how people are like the wagons. Yesterday I thought of Joanna and I felt like the empty wagon. She never once complained, she was always positive, she loved reading of Fancy's adventures.
After reading her memorial posted on Cross Creek Horses page, I suddenly understood why she loved Dancing With the Stars so much.
This young lady had such an awesome spirit! And we never knew how awesome she really was. But Pixie Dust knew this as she visited Joanna during her illness. What a loving and special little horse. God Bless Pixie Dust, she is truly an Angel on Earth.

I am so sorry i haven't been on in foever! I ahave just started upp school again, and with everythiong, its just beenreally hecktic in our househod. Remy have been doing VERY well lately. reccently iave been working on flying lead changes, were not quite there yet... but definately closer. I have also been trying to get Remy to become in the bit, which has been working great.

We were reccently in the state fair. We were in a Western Horsemanship class with 23 competitors and we got 2nd! Im so happy, overall, he has been really calm. although lately he has been really stressed oyut. who knows why? haha!

Well, i have trained Remy to hug me when i ask him sto hug me. Its really cute, i will try to get some pics on my picture area. Well i will try to put up some pictures from the last month.... sorry about that again, i will try to be better!

So how is Romeo?

FANCY'S PERCEPTIONS:

Fancy's sliding by in the mud to leave you this Tuesday vote. We hope your holiday weekend was most delightful. Did you enjoy any horsey time? We did nothing here this weekend. Now it is raining off and on☁

Lots of friends asked how I began to teach Fancy to lay down. Here is my comment on that.
1. First you teach the horse to let you handle his front feet. You teach them to let you hold that foot up for long as you want to with out taking it back.
2. Rope breaking helps. I mean throwing the rope all around their body, head, and legs till they are in no way fearful or uncomfy with that feel and touch.
3. You need 2 SOFT ropes. Don't tie, but loop one around the horse's front near pastern (ankle area), you will use this to hold the hoof up only, Make sure this rope never gets tight because it may slow or stop blood flow.
4. Second SOFT rope attaches to the halter as usual, except you run it between the front legs to the off side of your horse and across the back to lay on the same side of his body as the leg you are going to lift.
5. Lift the foot using the rope that is around that foot. Hold still until he is o.k. with that. Hold the foot up at the point that it touches the belly. No tighter than necessary and don't tighten as you go.
6. Teach the bow. Grab the rope that is attached to the halter it should lay just behind the withers and pull slowly and softly until he gives with his nose. His head will tip slightly then he is ready for a bow. He should go back and downward until his knee touches the ground. You have to know your horse. Let him up before he gets upset. Just in case he lays all the way down at this point, keep in mind, which ever way his nose tips is the direction his feet will lay. Stay clear of his feet so you don't get kicked.
7. If he lay down from the bow, you want to rub all over him before he gets up and tell him how great he is!
8. If he didn't lay down from the bow on his own, redo the bow and hold in the bow position and he should lay down. You may need to slightly increase the pressure with the rope that is across his withers. But remember to be very gentle. He should lay down. Depending on the horse, it may take a few times to get all the way down.

Look up Ken McNabb on the internet, his method is very gentle.
I also learned that you do not want to ride a horse up from the ground until it is over 5 years old because it's bones are still growing and you can damage it's developing bone structure, which could lead to future problems.
If I confused you, let me know or look it up on the internet. I hope this has helped.

“GRAMMAR HAS GOTS TO BE ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANTEST THINGS EVER? (unknown)

Fancy is dropping this Monday vote for you ♡

Have you ever seen a horse lay and roll too close to the pipe fencing and they get their rear legs stuck in the fence? Fancy did this about 2 times when she was a yearling. One time I had to take the panel lose so she could free herself. That was probably dangerous for me because I had to hold the panel, but I did leave one of the fasteners in. Seeing the scratches on her lower hind legs, it seems she has done this a few days ago. Do they just have to learn not to do this or is anything besides running a string of electric to prevent this from happening. Usually they don't repeat it too many times. Maybe she will be more careful now that she is older and knows again how unpleasant it is.

Thanks to my HC friends for prayers and support during last week. I am finally feeling normal again. After that experience I am ready for the allergy test so I can stay safe. This was a bit upsetting for me because Fancy's doggone coggins just expired and I was about to load Fancy up for her vet appointment to get that coggins updated. Instead, I got a doc appointment and had to use the coggin's money for allergy meds. I had to reschedule her vet appointment! Now I don't know if that coggins will be back in time for us to make the local horse show in our town in September. If we make it, that will be our first show! I will see.
I tied Fancy while I cleaned her courtyard(cause she is the queen. LOL!). Finally, Fancy and I had our time together. Fancy seemed so happy. I didn't ride her or do any lessons. We just hung out in the yard and she ate grass while I groomed her. Just a pleasant quiet time.

FANCY'S PERCEPTIONS:

We are laying down your Tuesday vote.

Thanks to all of you who helped with my bareback mounting problem. I tried two suggestions, the first method: I don't seem to have enough upper body or arm strength to make it. The second method: I wound up kicking Fancy in the hip/side. I did not like that and I can't blame her if she didn't like it either. But she stood there and I figured if I did that too many times she would be very unhappy with me.
The technique of laying her down was also suggested. Thus, Fancy doesn't have to endure my feet kicking her in the hip.
I viewed some youtube videos on how to teach your horse to lay down. I tried to pick the gentlest techniques I saw and combined them.
Fancy had her first lesson on laying down Monday evening. I could not believe she did it on the 2nd try. We repeated this 3 times and since she was so nice about it, I handwalked her around the neighborhood and let her graze. She really enjoyed that!
Teaching her to lie down has always been something that I felt was too much for me to handle. I couldn't believe we did it. I think once Fancy fully understands, it will be like a fun trick!!! It is not hard as I thought it would be, but it would have been easier if I had taught it when she was smaller. Have you ever taught a horse to lie down?
