How We Met

My friend raises Paints and the day Dancer was born, she was unable to imprint her right away, so later that afternoon, she had me imprint her, while she held onto the mother and I bought her then and there..

Too many things going on!
Where has the summer gone? I swear it was just Memorial Day. LOL I won a "free" breeding at the Midwest Horse Fair to a golden buckskin stallion named "One Impressive Beau." I had seen him at the fair the past few years and really liked him so I thought this would be a great cross on Dancer. According to the genetics book, I could get a buckskin, palomino, bay, sorrel, smoky black or black. They say he sires 90% buckskin but I know I'll be in that 10% other. I had to bring her about 5 1/2 hrs. south of us, past Milwaukee. If you'd like to see "Beau" the website is www.kqhranch.com. But, my free breeding is turning into a nightmare. She's been there about 3 weeks and I just found out the other day that somehow they missed her heat, so they had to give her a shot to bring her into heat hopefully on Monday. Can't understand it since they tease her everyday. They said she likes Beau all the time so they couldn't tell. I'm thinking my "free" breeding is going to cost me close to $1000 after the vet fees, shots, board, ultrasounds, etc. She better be bred because I can't afford to keep her there another month. AAAARGH!!!

Rotten Luck!
Haven't been on lately due to a screw up on my computer.
I planned on taking Dancer to a warm-up show in Oshkosh,Wi this Sunday. I was going to show her in halter and showmanship so we've been working pretty hard lately. She's been setting up fairly well but not perfect every time and she HATES to back up but that's what warm-up shows are about, right?! Well, learned last nite (Friday) that the truck my friend and I were using needs the brakes fixed so there goes that show. But, for good news, I won a free breeding to the ABHA Champion Buckskin, One Impressive Beau from the Midwest Horse Fair. According to the chart, since Dancer is a sorrel, I could get a palomino, buckskin, black, bay, sorrel, black or smoky black. Hopefully, since he throws 90% buckskin maybe I'll get a buckskin overo or tobiano. If you want to look at him, his website is www.kqhranch.com. Beautiful horse, I'm taking Dancer down for breeding in the middle of June. Should be an interesting 11 months waiting to see what she has!

Vet Day Today
Had the vet out today to do Coggins tests on Dancer & Diamond. She couldn't get over how calm they were and didn't even have me halter Dancer when she did the test. Dancer just stood there quietly. So did Diamond, good girls that they are!! Hope to show Dancer in halter & showmanship this year and Diamond in speed shows. Depends on the price of gas!! LOL

Midwest Horse Fair
Well, it's Monday again! But a good Monday, except for the weather, which is rainy and windy! Got back from the Midwest Horse Fair yesterday!!! Beautiful weather, lots of free stuff (gotta like free!) and lots of info on how to start Dancer. Actually, most of the starting info came from my friend, Travis, who was with us. I love the Liberty demonstrations, Stallion Revues, and the Rodeo on Sat. nite was awesome!! Tommie Turvey, Equine Extremist, performed. Was that something to see! He had his horse lying down on it's back and alot of other stuff. The whole weekend was great! It really makes you want to get working with your horse.

It's MONDAY
Well, another weekend gone and of course it was a beautiful day. I had to be cooped up at work and couldn't even go riding after because I had a meeting an hour away. Didn't get home until after 11 p.m. I have the vet coming out next Tuesday to do wellness exams on Dancer and Diamond plus get their Coggins tests. I think those are a waste of time and money since the horse could get infected the very next day and they only require you to get one test a year. I give the 6-way shots so that's a bit less money. Can't wait until the first show. It's a warm-up show, no show clothes required. My type of show this time of year. Now, I just have to get all the winter hair off the kids. I'll probably have enough for a blanket by the time I'm done.
