My Horse Profile

American Saddlebred from Nowhere, MO

About Me

Active within 873 Days

I am from Nowhere, MO and I've been a Club Horse member for 6 years, 9 months and 21 days

Nicknames: Sass, Sassa-bo-frass!- , Sassy, and Sassy girl.

Age: 9 years old

Gender: Mare

Breed: American Saddlebred

Height: 15hh

Color: A lovely cherry bay. You don't see many of those!

Type of Riding: Western, mostly just casual pleasure riding.

My Horse's Achievements: She was the first wild horse I ever trained. Not a mustang from the deserts of Nevada, she was a rescue horse from up in Iowa, untouched by human hands at the time we brought her to the ranch. I am proud she learned so fast and is such a cute little riding mare nowadays. And for not stomping me during training because it was so easy to see she wanted to at times...

My Horse's Favorite Treat: Grain! She won't eat treats or anything else she just likes her nom-nom grain!

My Horse's Favorite Things To Do: She likes to cross her legs. And eat a lot. And hang out with other taller Saddlebreds.

Pet Peeves: She doesn't like other horses to boss her around, despite the fact she is at the bottom of the totem pole. ): Also, something weird she does, is cross her legs. She can cross either her front legs or her back and rub them together to scratch the opposite leg. It's weird and we have no idea why she does this. Sometimes she just stands with her legs crossed... (: Makes me laugh just thinking about it though.

How We Met

I rescued her from a farm in Iowa. She wasn't being cared for properly and was running wild with a herd of probably 100-300 other horses, on a large sum of land. Since they were Saddlebreds, not tough stock horses or Mustangs, a few died and most were in poor condition. The owners tried to feed them and keep them UTD on vaccinations but it just wasn't possible with so many wild horses. They were reported and had to get rid of them all. I was lucky to get Sassy! I can't imagine what would've happened to her if we hadn't taken her! Love you Sass!.

Hey! Just did the extreme thing again last night, we did it in the dark this time. It was very hard! Fog is moving up in the rankings though, we ended up in 4th this time! We had no moon, black clouds and bouts of rain. Pitch Black! They gave us those glow necklaces to wear so the judges could see us. I have never rode in the conditions that we had last night, oh! and I got home at 3 a.m., I'm so tired!!

Come visit me, Fog.

The dust storms happen every summer. A Semi flipped over on the interstate next to where I work Tuesday night after running into the back of an suv. Haven't heard about the injuries. Hope they were minor. I could see lights from the accident but nothing else.....Solar panels are great. All you have to do is rinse them off when they get dirty. Ours will be off for the next week, or so, because the relay switch broke during the storm. Seems the switch was too small.... Started the girls on their Psyllium treatments Thursday evening. Instead of twice a day, I give it to them once in the evening with a sweet feed mix. I only give Sadie about a third of the feed I give Star. Sadie doesn't need to gain weight... Way too hot to ride. Probably won't until October. Hope everyone is well and Shannon heals fast. Love and a vote.

Come visit me, SADIE *Thx For HOTD - 11/30/17!*.
