Have to play catch up again. No internet this morning due to the storm. Calling for up to 20 inches but Mother Nature is getting a bit lazy, well or at least not aggressive yet. Only have about 5-6 inches. Mikey has dr. appointment today at 1, so hopefully he can make it. 100 miles 1 way. He has 4 wheel drive, he can not drive himself, being legally blind, but his friend took off 1/2 day from work to help him out. Schools are all called off, not so much because of the snow, but blizzard condition with winds. Could not finish leaving comments yesterday, but most everyone at east received a vote. Had to run get neighbor his pills at Ladysmith, then after dinner, went to pick up sawdust for bedding, to make sure everyone will stay dry. 12 bags (100 # feed bags) will go a long ways, then bedding gets recycled in the spring on the fields....animals are fertilizer factories.

We had a new priest, from Florida, but he was raising money for Haiti. My Mom said they have been raising money for Haiti, since she was in school, and she is going to be 01 yrs old. Makes sense, they probably use the Church as their income. Mom said they use to save used stamps, and the Sisters would sell them to collectors, and then gave the money to the poor.
Nice outside was 4 above, but should warm up to high 20's or even 30. We got up to 19 yesterday, but with that Mr. Sun, it felt warmer.

Thanks for visiting Rocky's page. He was never a HOTM before and it was a total surprise. Yesterday afternoon's ride was a little breezy and cool, but really nice otherwise. Rocky & I had a relaxing ride with my friend and her mare. Blue the dog and my friend's dog, Hailey, went along too.

Fast trip to Rice Lake, about 80 miles north of us, with Tristan to get his phone replaced...cracked the screen. Ended up buying one for Dominic birthday in a few days. He has been saving his money we paid him for helping load fire wood, but this was a deal, pay 1 dollar for 24 mts, plus 20 dollars line charge, so hopefully it will be affordable. Got to go to Farm and Fleet had to load up on kitten food because Tristan will be taking Grizzly back when he goes back to Eau Claire for school. He left last night because found out there was an opening for his CLD truck driving class. (Linesman school), I tell him so next time Angel gets up a tree, he goes after him. LOts of frost this morning so horses have to stay in a bit longer.

Just got back from cutting firewood. I love being in the woods, and specially when its so nice out. 50's and no wind. Took Sadie with us, since Dominic could not come down this weekend. He was trying to teach Sadie to pull a piece of wood to the truck. Every dog should have a kid, so they can play together. Grizzly the kitten, is so much better. Now has the run of the house, but unless Sadie is sleeping, he likes to hide. At night, he will crawl upon Mike's lap while he watches TV. Weather he is nice, hope it last for the kids for Trick or Treating. Usually, it been cold, raining and windy. After Mass tonight, will be going to my Dad's cabin, for his birthday celebration, even if he passed away 8 yrs ago. I met a little baby boy,Robert, about 6 mts old, 8 yrs ago, and his birthday is Oct 28, so each yr I send him a card and drop off a gift for him. We exchange rocks and pine cones when ever I see him. His Mom has horses too. But I think God sent Robert into my life, because He took someone from me. Because he is home schooled, I gave him tablets, colors, colored paper and things like stickers, scissors, and of course a very neat looking rock. His Mom and grandparents took him to Lake Superior to look for agates, so next time I see him I will trade him some sea shells from Lake Superior area for a agate.

Sunday vote from Whisper, Willow and the little herd for you. NIce out far...getting some jobs done outside, that usually is too hot out in the morning to do. Trying to move the turtle cage out to the shed for the little keets, because they are out growing their rabbit cage. The turtle cage is about 5 feet high, 4 ft wide and 10-12 ft long, and no bottom, so they can learn to scratch in the dirt. Because its made from chicken wire, I can put long sticks in for roosts, also put branches, and plants so that they learn to hide in the grasses. I feed them clover and grasses now, but cut it up with the scissors. They are too small to be out with the little chicks, yet. The keets have one fault, they hide their little heads into a between the hay bales, when being picked on, thinking they can not be seen, but they do not know how to move backwards, only forwards, so they get deep between the bales and die. They are a very smart bird...except for that one stupid fault. So I keep them safe until they are older. Most are spoken for except for the ones I will keep...some different colors than what I have now

Well, Mistit's due date certainly is a mystery....she nearly is past the last due date, first week in Aug, next one will be near the end of Aug. It's been a long baby watch for all of us. I keep checking to see if she has milk, which she does

I guess I will never complain about the cold, when the heat is this bad. 10 o'clock and horses have all ran into the shed. We brought all the round bales in this morning, Mike brought them in, and I just help make sure he is getting them straight. So while he is doing that, I moved most of the baby chicks, now about 3 weeks old into the chicken coop, there is a separate little room in there, for feed, but feed never gets into it, so nice place for chicks. They have out grown their large rabbit cage. At least there is a window to open.
Baby guineas, (keets) are hatching now, I can hear them inside the incubator. Have another batch due next Saturday. Wanted to take them to the next swap on the 30th, but that is our family reunion, (Mike's side) this time near Minneapolis, about 3-4 hours away. Most people are staying over night, but we have no one to check on critters, so we will just go for a bit and come home. Stay cool, sorry I did not read any one's comments to me, so will try to catch up later on any news.

Come visit me, Mistic, Willow & Whisper.

Everyone's prayers must be working, because surgery went well. So I want to Thank Everyone!! My son has spent more time in the hospitals and clinics, than all of us put together. When he had his transplants they told us 2 weeks, 3 at the most, well he was there from Feb. 24th until the end of July, and then out a few days and back in for nearly another 3 mts. He had a infection "someplace", I figured right where his home dialysis tubes when into his stomach, but that is the only place they did not check, since it is suppose to be mainly fatty tissues.

Surgery went good, seen some pictures he sent me, foot and toes looked like a big balloon with digits. He said his hip hurts him very bad. I sure hope the stints work, because other wise he will loose his foot, with his toes always being infected. They did remove one toe, about 5 yrs ago, since it was being forced way out of place. Yrs ago, he was in a 4-wheeler accident, and drs. said his foot was not broke, and I kept telling them something was wrong with it, well, after him walking on it for nearly 2 weeks, yep, it was broke and they had to go in threw the top of his foot, so his whole foot is litterly smashed down with 2 long scars about 6 inch long, I am sure that is why he has issues now.

A vote from Whisper, Willow and the little herd. Cloudy today and is suppose to rain. Can not get 3 nice days in a row to make hay, and since we do not have equipment have to have neighbors help. I finished the garden, at least of pulling 5 gallon buckets of weeds out. I have been eating beets and carrots already, plus things that grow fast like lettuce and radishes. Cucumbers, winter and summer squash, way too many tomatoes, since I had to replant about 16 of them, I now have close to 25 plants, many just come up by themselves, and I move them to a row, or a place where something did not grow. Dill is growing here and there, but I also plant it in flower beds, since butterflies like to lay their eggs on it. Potatoes are now have flowers. Flower beds mostly can take care of themselves, since they are "grow where you fall" type gardens. Lots of them about 17 small ones, and all around the house. I have no color theme, just what the butterflies and birds like. I have one corner of the house, where the water hose comes out, that I need to redo, since I had to dig it up, but this year, I just planted pumpkins there, to keep the weeds down.

Things are always busy here, never seem to have enough time, to really finish most jobs. Trying to get weeds pulled from the garden, pulled 5 - 5gal bucket full, like just packed them in, for the pigs and guinea hens that have to stay in, because they do not listen very well....take after me, I guess. They like to go on the road, so I lock the hens in and let the 2 males out, and 1 in. Later, this evening after supper, I let them all out, but then I can be out weeding flower beds and keep a eye on them better. I ride Willow a bit each evening, and try to work with Pickles too. Too many little ones around to get any place with him. I have never seen a horse so afraid of hands, unless I start behind him. If he is tied, he is not bad, but out in the pen, its like always out of reach. He is not aggressive, and I can start at his but and work my way up to his head, or under his chin, as long as the hands are out of site. I wish he could talk to tell me what happened to him. Paisley is nothing like that at all.

Little pigs are getting very playful, I like to watch them play while I am trying to get caught up on weeding the garden. I am so surprised how much weeds grew in just a few days. Black sow only has 2, and white sow, 5. Last night Mother Nature put on a fireworks show. Nearly 2 inch of rain.
Been getting in short rides on Willow, Whisper is in heat, and I do not want her chasing Willow, because when she runs, is when she limps.

MaMa pig is fine. She gets up a lot more than what I remember our other sows, (from yrs ago) did, but I really think it was because the heat. The baby pigs are so cute and tiny compared to her, she is a good Mama. I see her push the babies into one spot with her nose, before she lays down. Her 350 pounds would surely, squash them.
I have my camera all ready. to take some first pictures of Mistit's foal. I just hope I figured out all the days right, by counting back 21 days from the first date that I was told she was bred. I still say she like her special treatment. Going to rain today. Yesterday, we moved the fence next to the woods getting ready to cut the hay field. Our son worked up a small deer plot, and we planted that with sugar beets. Moved little chicks out out to the shed into large rabbit cages and kept the baby keets in, well, until they get bigger.

Sometimes, a baby piglet gets stuck into the birth channel, they each have their own little sack, so there not like all together inside. If one get stuck, usually the first one, it takes a long time for MaMa to push it out. This sow had the first two stuck, both stillborn, second one was large and it was about 3-4 hours between the 2 of them.
I have been really watching Mistit, and letting her out staked out. Yesterday, she was laying down at lot, and rolling, but still no baby. Doing the math, from the days she gave me, counting back 21 days, so if she was bred, in August, she will be due, 10-16th of July. Figuring if she came into heat again in July, (this is when she got her stifle joint injury), then a month after that she would have been in heat around the second week of August.

The mini flood in the living room was caused by the hubby, who was playing weatherman, again. Sure hope he does not take it up as a living. Same guy, who said was not going to freeze last night. Good thing I covered tomato plants, there was frost this morning, frost but no baby.
Ponies staying in at night so they can lay where it is dry and warm, sure is making a messy in the back of shed. This morning, "someone" decided to empty the barrel of empty feed bags, pull down another bale of hay, tip over water buckets, and I am sure they tried to let the rooster out of the rabbit hutch.

Both colts are feeling better, I gave each one a bute tablet in the morning. Have to dissolve it in warm water, and mix a bit of sugar with it. When I talk to them, both have that innocent look in their eyes, which are very kind expressive eyes. Like who me!! I did not do that. I have to find the time to make up a page just for them, instead of having so many. Been raining like cats and dogs here, high winds yesterday, now it cool today. Hopefully, I can get some inside work done. Garden needs replanting and weeding, but with all this rain, can not even tiller. Did hand pulling weeds around the tiny carrots and beets, beans and peas are one here, and 6 ft away the second one. Once we can till, I will transplant whats there. Today is grandson, Tristan's, first day at collage for linesman school, of course flat tire, so GrPa is going down to help him out, about hour and a half one way. Well, have to go, I hear the goats calling me.
