it's another lovely day today so i plan to ride. tonight i go to a Christmas party. my friend's husband has a flatbed trailer and we're going to jump on it and drive around looking at lights! sharing a recipe for a very simple appetizer: take one 8 oz block of cream cheese, softened, and add 1/8 cup chopped nuts and 1/8 cup chopped dried fruit. shape into ball then roll in 1/8 cup nuts and 1/8 cup dried fruit. serve with crackers. couldn't be simpler! i made one using dried cranberries and almonds. very festive. i was driving near a wooded lot and a 5 point buck ran across the road! i was so surprised since it was 10:30am and in a fairly busy area. so glad he made it back into the woods! what a beauty! Big Hi! I gave the bag of corn to some neighbors for their cows. They have 2 and sometimes run out of hay. I hear the poor things crying out sometimes. Breaks my heart. Want to help them, but things haven't been the best lately. Will do what I can. I picked up 2 bales of hay Thursday evening and brought them home in the trunk of my Monte Carlo. Sadie plays keep away from everyone when it's time to catch and saddle her. And once you're in the saddle, she wants to go to anyone. She, also, starts her yawning as soon as you get her bridled. Big hi. The weather today was weird. It was really windy. It shook the house at times. It even rained hard for maybe a minute. I didn't ride, but hope to Wednesday. Love being in the saddle. Austin and I dewormed the girls Thurday. They always know something's up when I go out to the corral with their halters. Star's the worst about deworming. She puts up a good fight and is so strong. Here's a Monday vote for Indy!
I had an amazing ride today. Even though fall has definitely arrived here in the Midwest, the temperature got up to the mid 70s, and I rode Luna through the woods as the colored leaves crunched under her hooves and the wildflowers were in bloom in the meadow. It was like I was in a picture book or something. I was a very happy rider!Come visit me, Wizard & ~Luna~.

I was supposed to go trail riding with a friend yesterday, but she ended up not being able to make it, so I used the time to work in the arena. I need to get Luna more used to leg aids and not be so dependent on the bit. Part of the problem is my fault too. We both need to learn together LOL. Here's a Saturday vote for Indy! I haven't been on Horse Club for a couple of days because something was wrong with the site...every time I tried to click anywhere on the right side of the site, a huge add would pop up. It seems to be fixed now, though.
The weather here has definitely turned chilly, but will that keep me out of the saddle? NO WAY! Haha, I'm going trail riding today with a friend of mine, and Luna's never met her horse, so we'll see how she does riding with a strange horse. Luna actually does better with another horse than by herself, so I'm not anticipating any problems.Come visit me, Wizard & ~Luna~.

King Kong was very bad yesterday. King did not want to listen to my brother and my brother's friend wanted to help, so he got on King. While my brother's friend was riding King the horse reared and they fell back. He is ok, only suffered whiplash and soreness. We don't know what got into King. When he reared, there was no bit pressure at all. So he could have moved in any direction and he chose up :(
Fancy was very good. My son has ridden her. He has gotten bored riding in the corral, so we walk around the block and through the car wash. My son loves to ride her. He would like me to turn him lose. But I don't think Fancy or my son are ready for that. Because she is still very young and I know my son does not have experience in case something did frighten her. But so far she has been so wonderful on his rides out. I don't take that for granted and I pray that she remains steady.

Big hi! I feel so much better after riding Sadie. It was not only good therapy for both of us and Austin, it's a relief to know her summer off from riding didn't turn her into a bad girl. Dwaine's obviosly use to riding horses that have a get up and go about them. I'll talk to him about taking it slower with her. Break her in slowly or have a fight on his hands. She does have spirit. When I got home from work Tuesday night, a horse whinnied in the distance, and she whinnied back. How cute. Hugs and a vote. Have an amazing Wednesday! Hi! How are you today? I am here leaving you another quick vote. My mom is sick, but still has to go to work, and since I homeschool I have to go with her. She not really really sick, just a stomach ache. This week-end my parents are celebrating their 20th anniversary that was last week. Had a very nice ride Monday. Sadie was such a good girl. So easy to trot. Austin rode, too. She was completely different with us than she was with Dwaine. She may just need to get to know him better. daily whinny
i had a super horsey day yesterday, with giving lessons and riding. rode buttercup then i took peach out and jumped my cross country jumps. i use that term loosely....lol. it's one jump made up of a line of tractor tires laying on their side and a "log" pile of some dead branches. i have a fallen dead tree that i'm going to haul over to add to the log pile. anyway, peach cantered over both nicely and it was a blast! i lunged peekaboo, tooCome visit me, Sing & Herd.

daily whinny
i lunged sing & smooch. he seemed a touch off in his left fore...maybe a stone bruise. i groomed him good and ran out of time for sing with it getting dark earlier.
i'm looking forward to a new book called, "the eighty dollar champion: snowman, a horse that inspired a nation". he was a plow horse in the 1950's that was purchased from an auction as he was being sold for slaughter, with wounds on both knees and marks from the harness across his chest. 2 years later he was being shown at international level! i gotta hear more about this one! :)Come visit me, Sing & Herd.
