Today I will be featuring Billy in my blog.

Breed - ½ quarter horse ½ morgan
Age - I think he is 16 but don’t know for sure
Personality - Billy is very calm and sweet
Coloring - Billy is a chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail. He is easy to distinguish in the pasture with a crooked blaze. He also has two white socks on his back legs.

Billy is a great horse, when riding on the sensory (a gravel trail with stations for the students to stop at) he prefers not to walk on the gravel. Billy can carry small children and adults, from the beginning rider to an experienced rider. Billy is often on the slow side but will speed up if you ask. He is a great horse and the students benefit from having him in the program.

Thank you Ginger for featuring Miracles in Motion in your blog yesterday!!! Here is some more information about the Miracles in Motion Hippotherapy program!

Hippotherapy is a treatment some specially trained therapists use for their patients to gain muscle tone, balance, posture, coordination, motor development as well as emotional well-being. The hippotherapy classes include the horse and client, a therapist, an instructor, a horse leader and 2 two side walkers. Hippotherapy classes are different from Therapeutic classes because the therapist is instructing the client to sit in the saddle differently. They may sit sideways or backwards to gain better results. The hippotherapy classes often use different tack instead of a saddle. They often use some form of a bareback pad so they can feel the horse’s movement more and the horses body heat helps loosen their muscles.

Vote 3!!!!
Miracles in Motion offers several different kind of classes for their students. The Therapeutic Driving classes started in 2005 and are the most recent class type added to the Miracles in Motion schedule.

The Therapeutic Driving Classes are for students that are not able to ride (because of a physical condition or weight) and students that want to expand their knowledge of horses. These classes 60-90 minutes and include 3-4 students that help groom, harness, and drive Mr. Joe. Students who participate in the therapeutic driving program improve their
balance, motor planning, spatial awareness, self-confidence and core strength.
