Type of Riding: I ride western and bareback.most of my riding is trail riding and I usually do it by myself but sometimes I do it with some friends. Also sug and I are going to start reining and cutting. We are also starting to learn how to ride with a hackamore.
My Horse's Achievements: she didn't know how to back-up when i got her and know she does! also she has learned how to make quick cutting turns like horses that cowboys ride do!!! also i can gallop her as fast as she can go bareback with just a bridle on!!!!! also we have went riding at night and sug did AMAZING!!!!!
My Horse's Favorite Treat: Um..She doesn't have a favorite. She likes all of her treats and looks forward to any she get!! She does like marshmallows, popcorn, bread, apples, carrots, sweet feed, oats, alfala cubes, sugar cubes, and corn
My Horse's Favorite Things To Do: Eating and chasing any of our dogs that are around!When riding she LOVES to run but hates running when shes isn't being ridden.
Pet Peeves: Sugar sometimes doesn't want to stop running once she has started and she spits her water out that she was drinking after I fill her trough up with fresh,clean water!!! Also she has started rearing when she doesnt want to go my way on a ride.

How We Met
I always wanted a horse of my own and my dream came true when i turned 7. I got sug 2 weeks before my birthday and she was/is the best gift I have ever got. A neighbor of ours (they taught me how to ride and they knew that I wanted a horse) told my parents about Sug and so one day my mom and grandmother went to look at her. When they came home they had some pictures of a beautiful horse,it was Sugar. I got to go test ride her and she did great. It was love at first sight.

My little sister Joy was 5 and a half months old when she was diagnosed with T-cell leukemia which is most commonly found in preteens and teenagers. She was in the hospital for 2 and a half months getting treatment to fight against the leukemia. She came home for 2 weeks in early September and went back to get a bone marrow treatment. My other little siste Hannah was the bone marrow donor. Hannah was the best match Joy could've got because there are 10 things they could match on and the more the better.. ..Hannah and Joy matched each other in all 10 things! Hannah gave her bone marrow and has recovered wondrfully. Joy has recieved the bone marrow and it is getting into her immune system very good. Joy has no leukemia in her and she has only bone marrow that Hannah gave her!! We had to live in an apartment up in the city so we could be near the hospital for 3 months in case Joy suddenly needed treated. My siblings and I moved home January 2nd to get the house clean and ready so Joy could come home. A week later Joy and Mom came home!! Then a few weeks later we learned that Joy was CANCER FREE!!!! We are still having a hard time but not as bad as we were. Thank you all so much for all of the prayers!! (updated 1-27-12)
Horse back riding's not a sport? You lift weights,I lift water buckets,bales of hay,and 50lbs bags of feed.You run 1 mile,I ride 10.You work with a team,I work with a 1200lb animal that I have to communicate with,an animal that doesn't understand words.You have 4 quarters,2 halves,to show your competitors what you've got and you get a break in the middle....We've got 2 minutes,with no timeouts or re-dos.When you fall down you fall a couple inches.We fall 5 feet or more.Your sport is one season.Ours is all year long,even in the bitter cold.Now tell me again riding a horse isn't a sport?.

Beautiful weather here this weekend! Lucky did great this past week. We got to see the trainer work him. I was impressed with how well he did...the patience the trainer and Lucky had. The trainer did say that Lucky has a stubborn streak. He gets to a point when he doesn't want to do anymore, he acts up but then he works him through it. He said I will have to learn not to give in when he gets to that point to ride him through it. The trainer had him standing still with no forward movement for a good two minutes or more. the last few work shifts have been exhausting. i went overtime last night after working 16 hours. today i'm dragging. working out in the arena and a cold wind blew in. the temp dropped from 74 to 54 in an hour. my lesson riders teeth were chattering. lol. a north wind makes it feel much colder. i put a light rain blanket on princeton. he prob doesn't need it but i feel better. fell asleep on the couch and just woke up so i didn't want to miss voting again today on HC. Hi! Here is a mid week vote from Fancy and our herd!
I added a pic of Fancy's heel injury at the bottom of our page. She is out of the stall leaping, bucking, & running hard!
I think Trigger wants Fancy back in the stall. She is directing his every move, even if he can eat. Poor guy. Trigger gained weight while Fancy was in the stall. If he loses any weight, I will have to separate them so he can have some peace.
Depending on days I am physically able, I will ground drive Fancy and let her pull some things. I am excited for this!
Last Saturday my brothers rode Buttercup and Goldie. I got to ride Buttercup. Buttercup kept trying to follow my brother and she would not listen to me. She wanted to have a temper tantrum, so my brother lead her around so I could ride here. I felt like a little kid. But at least I got to ride. LOL.
I wanted to ride Goldie, but after I saw her behavior, I was fearful for my brother to ride her. Goldie is dangerously buddy sour, I tried to hold the reins so he could tack her up. But she pushes you with her body and neck and she will not listen to instruction. She will turn her butt to push you and try to run past you. I think that means she will kick if she wants too. I had to ask Buttercup's owner (my other brother) to hold Goldie because, Goldie made my wrists hurt. I don't want to ride Goldie anymore. She needs some schooling! My brother had a time getting on her but when he was finally on her, they started out rough until she was under her buddy. He had to keep them two together so he could hope for a peaceful ride.

Howdy♡ we missed you!
♥ Nonstop rain here! We sure needed it. I let the herd out (front turnout-has grass already) for around 15 to 30 minutes after work yesterday. (Turnout 2 & 3 are the ones that just got seeded) Boy did they have fun! Kicking up their heels, rearing and playing then the speed race was on. When it is wet from rain it always scares the life out of me! It’s hard to watch when they are running so fast and they stop so quickly! In all these years I still get that feeling of “oh no!” When it is dry I don’t worry at all-it’s just fun to watch. Again-Congratulations Angel HT April 2013 HOTM!!!!

Hi Sugar, here's a vote for ya. First let thank you very much for standing by H.T. and voting him daily in his quest for HOTM! HE DID IT! Lunged Indy today again, working on getting him ready for Ella to ride him and show him in showmanship at halter at the quarter horse shows this summer. Tomorrow's a Pagie day. Of course my trainer got me good today, she texted me and said that Paige was absolutely horribe today! I almost had a corenary over it. I am so happy to be able to blog and vote! Saturday I got my job list caught up and the brace is helping with the swelling, pain, & numbness. I have missed interacting with you all. I will blog and vote often as I can depending on my physical situation.
Saturday afternoon we went to the farm to take pics of my brothers and their friend as they rode out. I rode Buttercup in the field, well, my brother lead me on her. When he got her she did not like anyone. Now, she knows who he is and she only wants to listen to him! I could not ride her without him leading her. I did not want to get into a tussle with her either because my wrist are weak. I did enjoy the short ride in the field though!!!
Fancy's wound continues to improve. I was afraid to let her get her kicks out, but I let her out for a while Friday. She ran! Bucked, kicked, & ran more! There was NO limping, no swelling, no bleeding. I did put some bell boots on her before I let her out. Does any one know if it is ok to allow her to wear bell boots all day or night? I took them off when I put her back in the stall. The bell boots covers that wound so I think they will help if I leave her out. I don't know anything about bell boots because I have never used them.
If you saw our last video, don't worry, Fancy was not in any danger. Fancy has been goin up them stairs since she was 10 months old. When we go there more often she walks up them better than I do. They are in the park and there is grass on both sides. I never let her walk down. I think the pool noodle getting under her leg made her feel funny because the first time she was unsure. After I

HI, left a vote. I took my 13 month old grandson Issiac out to see Dusty yesterday. Issiac just loves animals, he always lights up when he sees one, and he giggles too. He just loves Dusty, and Dusty really like Issiac too. Dusty would come over and sniff him from time to time. They will grow up together and be the best of buds. Dusty is so sweet and mellow, I think I finally got it right this time.
Logan was sold and going to his new forever home. They are picking him up today.Come visit me, Toby & Amber.

HI, left a vote. Dusty was laying down out in his turnout yesterday when I got to the barn. I was able to walk up to him, love on him, and even sit on him while he was laying down. Thanks for all the birthday wishes. Ace is doing fine after his surgery (castration). All their coggins test came back negative. They all ate carrots in honor of the birthday boy and girl. Lucky is getting a big surprise birthday gift...he is going back to school! Not sure if he will like it...lol. We found a new trainer to send him to. One that can put a finish on him. He has some reining horses he's trained for shows. We bring Lucky on Monday and he will be gone for 30 days. Wish my Lucky boy good luck! Leaving a vote for ya. When Austin got home from school Monday, I asked how his day went. He replied somber. Said he wouldn't be needing the extra lunch he took to school everyday. His friend, Eric, who he shared with, committed suicide last Monday during spring break. I didn't know Eric, but felt I did through Austin. We're both having a hard time dealing with it. Austin more than me, of course. He said Eric was talented, funny and had a lot of potential. Heartbreaking. Saying a prayer for his family and all who've been hurt by this. Leaving a hug and a vote. ☆ Good Monday afternoon! I had a horsey filled weekend, how about you? I would love to hear all about it! Saturday I took Deacon and hauled out to our favorite place, “McCown Valley Lake Whitney “. There were so many people there. A lot were camped out with their horses competing in trail obstacles. There were judges staked out at different areas so they could perform maneuver’s to get points. Anyway, me and the crew I was with took back ways that no one else really knows about. Deacon was a ball of energy the 1st hour and after that he smoothed on out to his perfect self for the rest of the day! Sunday I got out Whiskey. I groomed him and broke out the clippers. He usually does not like the clippers but I worked with his legs and moved on up and got him use to it first. He sure looked pretty after I removed all the hair around his face! We rode there around the house for about an hour. Yes I groomed Rocket as well. No I didn’t clip him nor did I ride him. I did work from the ground with him. I lunged him at a walk, then trot, and worked on backing. He was such a good boy. You can tell he wants to learn and do well…have a great day!!

Sadie's doing good. Scruffy keeps her company, whether she wants him to or not. Since he's the only dog, and she's the only horse, he's bonded with her. He likes to sleep on her hay close to the corral. I don't think the feelings are mutual. He seems to get on her nerves when he barks for her to chase him. Busy night at work. Love and a tired vote. We are pretty busy at work gearing up for Easter, it isn't a real big Turkey Holiday, but we still put in the OT. Hi Sugar, here's a vote for ya. Wahl has a cordless that kinda inexpesive, I think it's called the Wahl pro. But you have to be good about keeping it charged or it'll kill the internal battery and will only work when pluged in then. I know from experience!
So we're at the end of the 1998 show season and at out last show. The yellow jacket bees were out in force, hanging out in every garbage can around. We just come out of a halter class and were waiting for out next one, when a couple of kids knock the 55 gallon drum and out they come. Stinging poor H.T. on the butt! He lunges forward, knocking me to the ground, tries hard to clear me but still lands a hoof on the inside of my right thigh. I hit my head pretty hard to on the blacktop! Another trip to the ER! One heck of a lump on the back of my head, slight concussion and a hugh hemotoma starting on the thigh! That was Sat, so no show on sunday for me or him! He did have several welts on his butt later on that afternoon, he got stung a few times! More to come.
Today was a great day down at Paige's. she rode awesome for me. Karen tuned her, and just as the vet was getting there for Redford, Karen says here ya go. She's all yours, I'll be with Terry and her horse and the vet. Karen would glance over and yell, wow look at you two, looking good at the lope. Wow , nice right lead lope, she's staying really nice, keep that leg in her if you need to! It was great! Got home really late, had the dentist afterwards, so Indy and Bullseye just got hay and stayed in the barn, heavy rains also!
