Quarter Horse from Gallant, AL

Jaxxon

About Me

Active within 1086 Days

I am from Gallant, AL and I've been a Club Horse member for 3 years

Nicknames: Jaxxon isn't registered, but he has several nicknames. His nicknames are: 'Jax', 'Mr. J', 'Mr. Jaxxon', and 'The Jaxinator'.

Age: 6 years old

Gender: Gelding

Breed: Quarter Horse

Height: Jaxxon is 14.3 hands (he should mature to 15 hands).

Color: Jaxxon is a bright sorrel with a star, blaze, and snip.

Type of Riding: I ride Jaxxon English and Western. We just trail-ride.

My Horse's Achievements: Yes! After a year, Jaxxon has finally overcome his (horrible) fear of vehicles! His fear of vehicles was literally so bad that I quit taking him for walks for several months because I was scared he was going to kill himelf or cause a wreck from the way he would freak out so badly. After he leapt in front of a car as it came by and barely missed being it last winter I stopped walking him for a ew months, and when I started taking him for walks again a few months ago, he was just fine with vehicles.
He's also finally started to relax fully when he's by himself, instead of getting nervous and calling the other horses constantly.

My Horse's Favorite Treat: Mr. J loves pears...

My Horse's Favorite Things To Do: Jax seems to really enjoy his sponge-baths... He fals asleep while we're bathing him and is willing to stand there for hours while we play with the soap and hosepipe!
He also adores just being petted and loved on. He's always been a very people-oriented horse and it's very obvious. He'll stand with you out in the pasture for ages, regardless as to whether or not you're actually petting him. He just eems to love the companionship.

Pet Peeves: The Jaxinator doesn't really like dogs (ok, so that's the understatement of the year). He hates dogs with a passion and has tried to stomp my cousin's dog several times... however, he seems to know that my puppy is 'off limits'... He's never even pinned his ears at PuppyHound!

My Horse's motto: "Try, try, and try again."

How We Met

Oh, this is good...
I've only owned Jaxxon for a year now, but I've known him since he was a yearling. He was born in Mississippi, at a Quarterhorse breeding facility, but for some reason he was a 'throw-out'. Some people from my homestate (Alabama) owned land in Mississippi, and found him in their pasture. No one ever claimed him, so they brought him to their home in Alabama to raise. That's when I first met Jaxxon, when I was visiting his then-owners with some other friends. I have never really liked Quarterhorses. .. or red horses... and I always said that I'd never own one. I fell in love with Jaxxon on the spot, thugh I didn't even touch him on that visit (at the time, his name was Eugene). A few months later, his owners were downsizing their herd and sold him to my other friends, who had several other horses. For the next year, Jaxxon (who was re-named Lil' Man) lived in a sixty foot round-pen with a hay bale and water bucket... no grass, only rocks (the other horses bullied him so badly that it was dangerous to turn him out with them).
A year ago, though, my friends called me up in the morning and asked me if I wanted him, as they were downsizing their herd and had had him up for sale for a while, but no one had been interested. I told them that 'yes, of course I wanted him', and they said to come pick him up, that I could have him.
Jaxxon had never been walked on a road, he'd never seen cars up close, and he'd never been away from their other horses. I didn't owna traier, so I rallied up my best friend and we went to get Jax. I literally led him home (my friends who gave him to me live exactly three miles away from me and at that time, they didn't have a horse trailer and Jax would barely load... it was very stressful and a huge fight to get him in a trailer...). That three mile walk to my house was the longest walk of my life. Jaxxon was so tense the entire way, and so was I. I kept expecting him to rear up and try to bolt... I could feel it in him, but he never tried anything, just followed alongside me on the side of the road until we got home.
I've had him for a year now.
