Type of Riding: english riding, some jumping and just pleasure hack. We started dressage spring 2012, it seems to be more our "thing", Charlie can be a bit lazy and although I wanted to jump, he isn't really into it.
My Horse's Achievements: when our 29 year old mare was stalled for 10 days due to a strained tendon, Charlie stayed beside her stall door for the entire 10 days to keep her company. He has such a caring nature. He was HOTD October 24, 2011. He was proud to be HOTM April 2012. He got HOTD for a second time October 25, 2012
My Horse's Favorite Treat: carrots, apples, actually anything to eat, his appetite is great, recently found out they both LOVE pears.
My Horse's Favorite Things To Do: he loves to have his neck and belly scratched, he would stand there as long as you could do it.
Pet Peeves: He hates to get wet, eg. the rain, snow, he will tolerate a bath, but it is not fun!!
My Horse's motto: it's all about me, everybody loves Charlie.

How We Met
About 1 1/2 years after the heartbreak of losing my horse, Sassy Mac (Mackie) due to heart failure, he has a profile page Angel Sassy Mac. I started to look for a new horse with the help of my coach. I looked at probably 25 horses, everything I tried was nice, but nothing really got me excited. Finally my coach told me the problem was I was trying to replace Mackie, and that was never going to happen. She said I had to just pick a horse and fall in love with it after I got it home. I took offence to that remark, I have always believed that when the connection is there, you will know. I was not prepared to "just pick one" so I decided to stop looking for awhile. Two days later my coach called and told me about a horse she wanted me to see. I said NO, she proceded to tell me about him anyway, first, he was only 6, too young, he was a Thoroughbred, I didn't want a Thoroughbred and he was 16.2, he was a bit bigger than I wanted. But she insisted, the horse was fairly close to home, so I agreed to just go and look. I know some of you will understand this, when I walked into his stall and our eyes met. The connection was instant. It was the feeling I had been waiting for. I could not believe it, I forgot that he was big, and a Thoroughbred, I rode him that morning and fell in love. I called our Vet the minute I got home and asked for the pre purchase exam, Charlie was delivered the next week. He is just a very amazing horse. Love at first sight, it does happen!!

Hi Charlie, here's a vote for ya. Well I got my ride in on Paige and a couple of outside things done before the rains came in! And from the looks of the weather reports, right straight thru till next weekend! HUH! But my ride was great on Paige. Then I went to a BBQ for a little while, came home and spread some Magnesium chorlide flakes in the indoor arena to keep the dust down. Haven't put any down in a year now, it needed it. Just used 100 pounds for now on the really dry dusty areas. To wet and crummy out to turn the show kids out! Hot house flowers they are. So gave them lunch of a couple of flakes of hay, they were happy about that! Easy to please! LOL! Love, Marion and the blondies. Come visit me, Nuttin But Good. Hi Charlie bubbles!
♥♡♥ Yep, grey skies changed my plans yesterday morning! I did spring cleaning till nearly 12:00! I ate lunch, and then brushed Deacon and Rocket-fly sprayed and turned them out. I got Whiskey next and bathed him! He looked so pretty...after that I was tired, plum pooped!! So I relaxed and watched them graze. HI Charlie, here's a vote for ya. Had an awesome ride on Paige today. I even put a neck rope on her and gave the reins a lot of slack, like I don't ride that way anyhow! The grabbed the neck rope and worked her. She did well, not perfect, but good. Got a little faster at the lope and jog than what she's trained to do, but I didn't put a lot of leg on her either, I know Karen would have her going better like that. But I'll work on it once a week. Had them out this afternoon in the warm sun. Mowed another pasture, now I can't start all over again tomorrow with the lawn and follow with the pastures! LOL! QUICK FRIDAY VOTE ! Had a 12 hour work day and will be working tomorrow on Saturday from 7AM until 5 :30 PM for licensing of small aircraft pilots. Had some Sadie time today. We both need it everyday. It's getting hot here, so I didn't ride. I put the halter on her and walked her off the property. She was a little nervous, so we took it slow, stopping when she needed to to look around and see that she was okay. Neighborhood dogs were barking at us. She walked a little fast on the way back to the house. Had to keep stopping her to slow her down. She loved it. Going to walk her more often to get her use going off the property. Going to work up to riding her. Last time I rode her off the property, she was nervous and wanted to fight me. She should trust me more now. Hugs and a vote. Hi Charlie, here's a vote for ya. Had a really good ride on Paige today. Needed it, started the day off with my washing machine taking a dump on me. I think this time it's a gonner! It's almost 35 years old, what'a ya think? Of course it was full of laundry and water, had to try and hand ring things out, bring them upstairs and handwash in the kitchen sink. Not my idea of fun! Went out to check on Sadie when I got home from work last night. She'd torn her fly mask off. It lasted 10 days. Hope to someday move away from the egg ranch. The flies are horrible. Hi Charlie, here's a vote for ya. Today's was Paige's lesson day with our trainer Karen. Karen worked her in the snaffle bit, lot's of getting her to really drive up into the bridle, it's better to do it with a snaffle than a western ported bit. Don't want to hurt the mouth. So after an hour and a half of her working Paige, she said, no ride for you today. She's worked hard enough for me. Then I ran some errands again! Got home and the sun was out and it was 70 degrees, out went the kids to graze and play. They enjoyed themselves! Love, Marion and the blondies. Come visit me, Nuttin But Good. Hi Charlie, here's a vote for ya. Today was a showmanship lesson day for both the yella's. Indy did very good on his tune up. And Piage is just awesome in those 360 degree turns. She sticks that pivot foot and spins like a top! Then they got turn out time. I mowed the lawn, one pasture and half of the sides around the indoor. Supposed to rain on WEd. Long day of work from 6 AM to 5 PM. Came home and helped our (still without his vehichle for towing) neighbor unload his horse stables manure,etc. Took only 10 minutes but getting ridiculous. I claim ANKA for mine after all the loans,LOL! A tired vote for you and please vote Anka for her HOTD! Also heard from Thailand and DARLING is doing well on his meds for his perspiration problems and enjoying his ocean rides and hosing down with carrots cut & cleaned to eat! I hope all of you moms had a beautiful Mother's Day. I had to work, but didn't mind. Being a mom and loving my sons and they loving me in return is what makes it so special. An emotional week this week. My oldest son, a Msgt in the Air Force, leaves the end of this week for 3 years in Germany. He and his oldest son celebrate their birthdays this week, too. Hi Charlie, here's a vote for ya. Didn't do a whole lot today. Ran downtown and did some errands. Did ride Paige though. Worked on pushing that hip over and making her hold it and travel with the shoulders straight, good exercise for the lope offs. Then worked on downward transitions and stopping and then backing on a slack rein. I gave my legs a workout! LOL! Indy got the day off. Very cold, 35 this morning and a high of 52 only, windy too. Hi Charlie, here's a vote for ya. Well, so far the weather man has been wrong! YAY! We got a little rain on and off all day, but not the thunderstorms and heavy rains that they talked about yesterday! Got 2 nice rides in today. Rode Paige first, she was on! Then rode Indy, he was very good and he even loped for me, of course he would have preferred not to have used so much energy! LOL! Then I played with editing two video's that I did of friends showing this past weekend. Cut, splice, and added music and sent them to CD's to give to them. Hi there handsome, it is Day 11 of sterly's HOTM run, we have to get the votes going so whinny her on to victory! I was watching these teenagers do their jumping practice today at the Equestrian club my neighbor's daughter trains at. Lord, makes me feel soooooo OOOOLD! My jumping days have been over a long time (since I was 18 andwent away to school). Sadie's a handful. She does need to be worked with a lot. Wish my time wasn't so limited. Looking forward to the day when I can have more time with her. She deserves it. Hi Charlie, here's a vote for ya. Today was the kids day off. They had two different times out on pasture. This way they are out and eating grass, but not enough all at once to grass founder or colic cause they aren't used to more than 40 minutes yet at a time. So with a four hour break between, they can adjust their systems better to it. Really worked up my outdoor arena with the rake and drag. Then weed wacked the place and mowed the lawn around the house. Gonna pour buckets of rain tomorrow they are saying, up to 2 or 3 inches. Here we go! Sure hope they are wrong! Sassy Miss Sadie's doing good. She's keeping her fly mask on, but has torn holes in it. I dumped her water trough out to clean it and found her old fly mask in it, again. While I filled the trough with fresh water, she blew bubbles in it. So silly. Heat's hitting triple degrees next week. Time to buy another misting system. A cloudy Thursday vote, we are getting TAO ready for his show this week-end. I will care for ANKA here as she will be lonely. Using my Landcruiser to pull the horse van because my neighbor’s 4X4 is still in the mechanic shop! Because TAO belongs to him I will let him do the actual transport, then I will drive back. Hi Charlie, here's a vote for ya. What a great ride today on Paige, darn that mare! Why couldn't she have been like this on sunday! Think I said that yesterday too!. Karen came up to work her and give me a lesson, of course the rains were pouring and hitting the indoor roof hard, Paige could care less, she's good about stupid things like that, don't care much about anything! Except being alone in the barn or away from Indy! Couldn't work outside, so I played with the camera and lap top, working on doing a edit for Karen of her showing Richie in Hunter Under Saddle and then one of Terry and REdford in the Select Western Pleasure.
