How We Met

Mardi came in to our family because we had a mini mare and I wanted a baby mini. So in looking for a stud to take her to everyone wanted $1000 stud fee, too much. So I went online and found Mardi, told my mom why not just buy our own stud. So we drove 4 hours with the horse trailer, to find that this little stallion was way under weight, his ribs were sticking out, hips sticking up, his spin was way to easy to see, his hooves look awful all toe and no heel, I took a 6 mouth for his heel to become proper height. The previous owner bought Mardi as a weanling and had him for 5 year; in this time Mardi grow up with no other minis but was thrown in with 5 other full size horses both mare and geldings. So we had made the trip and decided we couldn’t leave him there. I had Mardi DNA tested and got him registered AMHA/AMHR. It is sad they didn’t take care of Mardi, as I found out he carriers some of the top mini breeders in his pedigree. Well Mardi came with many bad habits, he is very aggressive toward food, he attacks people through the fence. But through a lot of time and training Mardi has become a very good show horse, I still keep my eye on him as he sometimes likes to try and give me a bite when he is mad, but I’m the only person he will work with or just only one brave enough to work with him and I have had him for 6 years now. this link will take you to a video of Mardi http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=P2z- XcDwU5nk.
