Hello, its been awhile. Lots of stuff happening here but hasn't been very busy. Been over at my friend Jennifers keeping an eye on her making sure she stays on bed rest. She is pregnant and not doing so well. She's been having some really bad problems this past week with baby and baby is to small yet for them to give her any antibiotics or styrodes. So being a bossy friend ( ;-) lol) I get to tell her to sit her butt down and let someone else do it. lol Which wouldn't happen otherwise cuz shes bigger them me. :-)
I talked to a lady today about riding lessons. I liked her on the phone so now I just have to meet her. She excels mostly in reigning (as thats what she loves to do), but also does dressage, jumping, trail, endurance ect. So I'll give her a try and go from there. I would like to begin in dressage and work my way around the disciplines. Should be fun. She teaches how to communicate with the horse, and become a better partner. I'm excited and nervous at the same time.
Played with Omally on Saturday and we concurred the bag flag. lol hes so silly. He was ok with that but not the rope going around his legs. Little by little we go (would be better if I had a round pen, will work on getting it for my birthday in July. lol hmmmmm or Christmas. lol)
Have a great everyone

This is what I posted on my facebook page about Austin and Sadie's weekend adventure......Austin was filling the water trough for the horses. He put the hose in the trough to fill it, and Sadie kept taking it out. He finally took the hose and splashed her nose, then put it back in the trough. Sadie took it out, again, and started swinging the hose around wetting Austin. He took the hose from her and wet her down. She left it alone, then. Started the same game the next day. Smart? Too smart for her big britches.....Hugs and a vote.

I spent some time with Sadie and Star Thursday afternoon. Sadie's such a character. Never go out back, when she's out of the corral, with food. You won't make it far. She followed me around and it was fun just hanging out with her. She's not afraid of Rick's RZR. She didn't spook at the air compressor as Rick aired up the tires. She did spook when he was adjusting the flag on his RZR, tho'. She spooked each time he moved it. When she realized it wasn't after her, she calmed down and turned around, putting her big butt in my face to scratch. Felt bad about putting her back in the corral. Farrier's suppose to come out Monday. Not riding her until she gets that pedicure. Hugs and a vote.

Oh man you are brave. lol I would have probably peed. lol :-)
This here are ok, the weather is wonky but it has been all winter so far. We got to go for a ride this weekend it was nice to be back on a horse. Though saturday I took my kids and was pretty stressed about it though they did really good. My daughter went behind with my friend and the horse started to jump around, and my daughter just bunkered down and held on. She tells me she wasn't scared at all, thats good cuz my heart was in my throat. lol All I could imagine was her under the horses feet. so Sunday I made them stay home. that was enough excitement for mom for the weekend. lol On sunday Dee was good, we went past a compresser station and she did ok until the funny wooph wooph sound started, then she jumped around alittle bit bt calmed down. Close to the end of ride she started to act funny, pulling at the bit and swinging her head towards my right foot with her ears back, wasn't sure what that was all about. When we got to my friends, friends house I let her daughter ride Dee back. I guess Dee was doing the same thing but then settled down. They went by the shooting range and Dee did well with the gun fire. When they got back, I checked under her saddle and the hair was rubbed up a little by her hips, and a little on her shoulder. That could have been it not sure though. We went to leave for home and she didn't want to get into the trailer. lol Silly girl. lol I guess she had a good visit with her old herd mates. And I love love my new saddle Dee bucked and kicked at my friends Massive dog, and I stayed on, kept my cool, and made her walk on. After we stopped for lunch they wanted to go again but I was done. lol That has been the first ride on one of my horses since I got bucked off and hurt. I could tell Dee knew, I was pretty tense the first day.

Happy New years eve. :-) Are you doing anything this year? I have to work today and tomorrow. So nothing for me. I like to watch the fireworks they are my favorite. Our Christmas was good, my mother in-law announced her engagement, so we will be having a wedding this summer sometime. That is very exciting. Went out and saw the herd yesterday before work. Informed hubby that they needed bales, he went out there and had such a bad time. The tractor wouldn't start, he dropped a bale behind the other bales and on the fence wire, and then broke a fence post. My poor man, he was some kind of grouchy. lol Then on the way home it start to blizzard, and he got called to work this weekend. Hes the only Mechanic at the shop now, when he was in school three mechanics quite. So my hubby is super busy now. which is good unless he comes home grouchy. lol Well heres a vote for everyone and Best well wishes for the new year.

NORTHERN DANCER ♥
Northern Dancer (May 27, 1961 – November 16, 1990) was a Canadian-bred Thoroughbred racehorse and the most successful sire of the 20th Century. The National Thoroughbred Racing Association calls him "one of the most influential sires in Thoroughbred history". A bay colt, Northern Dancer was by Nearctic and his dam Natalma, was by the great Native Dancer. In 1952, Edward P. Taylor, Canadian business magnate and owner of Windfields Farm, had attended the December sale at Newmarket, England where he purchased Lady Angela, a mare in foal to leading English-based sire Nearco. The following spring, Taylor sent Lady Angela to be bred to Nearco once again, then shipped her to his farm in Canada later in 1953, and in 1954, Lady Angela foaled a colt in Canada named Nearctic who was voted the 1958 Sovereign Award for Horse of the Year. At the yearling sales at Windfields in Toronto, Ontario, the diminutive Northern Dancer didn't find a buyer at the $25,000 reserve price, so he eventually joined the Windfields Farm racing stable. Northern Dancer was ridden by Ron Turcotte in his first victory as a two-year-old at Fort Erie Race Track. He won the Summer Stakes and the Coronation Futurity in Canada and the Remsen Stakes in New York. His record of seven victories in nine starts earned him the Canadian Juvenile Championship. At three, Northern Dancer won the Grade I Flamingo Stakes and the Grade I Florida Derby with jockey Bill Shoemaker aboard. Before the running of the Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky, trainer Horatio Luro asked Shoemaker to make a commitment to ride Northern Dancer in the Kentucky Derby. But Shoemaker chose a colt he had never ridden named Hill Rise as his Derby mount. The unbeaten Hill Rise had an impressive campaign in California, winning the San Felipe Stakes and the Grade I Santa Anita Derby. Shoemaker campaigned hard to get Hill Rise as his mount, believing the colt represented his best chance for a Derby win. As a result of Shoemaker's decision, Bill Hartack became Northern Dancer's permanent jockey and guided him to victories in the Blue Grass and the Kentucky Derby, winning the Derby over a fast finishing Hill Rise in a record time that stood until it was broken by Secretariat in 1973. (Secretariat's record still stands). Hartack and Northern Dancer won the Preakness Stakes, and finished third in the Belmont Stakes to Quadrangle and Roman Brother. After the Belmont, Northern

My Christmas ride started off rough. My dog charged Sadie, he was playing, and she started to run and then started bucking. Happened so fast, I fell off. Austin said I looked like a rag doll. I hit the ground on my left leg and hip, bruised my right elbow and sore all over. Dang dog. I laid on the ground for a few seconds to make sure I was okay. The dog came over to check me out and Sadie charged. She was after him. I jumped up as she cut off to the side. Didn't she stay with me when she threw me off? Noooooo. I dusted my sore butt off and then got back on. We had a nice ride then. Austin had a nice ride, too. Gave Sadie and Star a lot of carrots for Christmas. And Sadie gave me a Christmas ride to remember. Hugs and a vote.

LEXINGTON ♥
Lexington (March 17, 1850 - July 1, 1875) was a United States Thoroughbred race horse who won six of his seven race starts. Perhaps his greatest fame came however as the most successful sire of the second half of the nineteenth century; he was the Leading sire in North America 16 times, and of his many brood mare and racer progeny one was Preakness, the namesake of the famous race at Pimlico. He was a bay colt bred by Dr. Elisha Warfield at Warfield's stud farm, The Meadows, near Lexington, Kentucky. Lexington was by the Hall of Fame inductee, Boston (by Timoleon by Sir Archy) from Alice Carneal by Sarpedon. He was inbred in the third and fourth generations (3m x 4f) to Sir Archy. Lexington stood 15 hands (63 inches), 3 inches high, and was described as having good conformation plus an excellent disposition. Under the name of "Darley" he easily won his first two races for Dr. Warfield and his partner, "Burbridge's Harry," a former slave turned well-known horse trainer. Burbridge, being black, was not allowed to enter "Darley" in races in his own name, so the horse ran in Dr. Warfield's name and colors. He caught the eye of Richard Ten Broeck who asked Dr. Warfield to name his price. "Darley," the son of Boston, was sold in 1853 to Ten Broeck acting on behalf of a syndicate who would rename him Lexington. Affixed to Lexington's pedigree Dr. Warfield wrote: "The colt was bred by me, as was also his dam, which I now and will ever, own...E. Warfield." A syndicate made up of Richard Ten Broeck, General Abe Buford, Captain Willa Viley and Junius R. Ward, bought the horse for $2,500 between heats (or during the running of his race), so tried claiming the purse money when he won. Failing that, he tried to deduct the purse money from the sale price. But Dr. Warfield held out. His new owners immediately sent Lexington to Natchez, Mississippi to train under J. B. Pryor. Lexington raced at age three and four and although he only competed seven times, many of his races were gruelling four-mile events. Lexington won six of his seven races and finished second once. One of his wins was the Phoenix Hotel Handicap in 1853. On April 2, 1855, at the Metairie race course in New Orleans, he set a record running four miles in 7 minutes, 19 3/4 seconds. Even with hi

DISCOVERY ♥
Discovery (1931–1958) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse. The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame said that he was: "...considered one of the greatest horses of the 20th century." A bright chestnut grandson of Fair Play, Discovery was foaled at Mereworth Farm in Lexington, Kentucky. He was owned by Adolphe Pons of Country Life Farm in Bel Air, Maryland, who raced him at age two with limited success, winning only 2 of 13 starts and being beaten in several races by future Hall of Famer Cavalcade. Purchased for $25,000 by Alfred G. Vanderbilt II's Sagamore Farm, Discovery raced one more time in 1933, finishing second. At age three, Discovery's racing season was marked by his continuing rivalry with Cavalcade. He finished 2nd to Cavalcade in the 1934 Kentucky Derby and 3rd to Cavalcade's 2nd in the Preakness Stakes. Both horses skipped the Belmont Stakes. Discovery went on to win the first of three consecutive Brooklyn and Whitney Handicaps (both under higher and higher weights), and set a world record time in the Rhode Island Handicap. In 1935, Discovery was the dominant horse in the United States, and one of the most notable things about him was his ability to carry great weight. Running under an average of 131 pounds, the four-year-old won 11 of 19 races and was unofficially named U.S. Champion Handicap and Horse of the Year honors. In the Merchants' and Citizens' Handicap, he carried 139 pounds. For these feats, he was called the great weight carrier, or the "Iron Horse." The fact that Discovery was voted Horse of the Year in 1935 is an especially remarkable achievement because that was the same year in which Omaha won the Triple Crown. This was the only time that a Triple Crown horse failed to win Horse of the Year honors. Racing at age 5, Discovery won his third Brooklyn and Whitney Handicaps en route to being voted his second straight U.S. Champion Handicap title. Retired to stud at Vanderbilt's Sagamore Farm in rural Baltimore County, Maryland at the end of the 1936 racing season, over the course of a 21 year stallion career, Discovery sired just 25 graded stakes race winners. But it was through his daughters that Discovery left his legacy: they produced Hall of Fame Champions Native Dancer, Bold Ruler, and Bed o'Roses, as well as the multiple stakes winners Intentionally and Preakness Stakes winner Hasty Road. Native Dancer produced Raise a Native, who sired the stallion Mr. Prospector. Discovery was inducted into the U.S. Racing Hall of Fame in 1969.

John Henry (March 9, 1975 – October 8, 2007) was an American Thoroughbred race horse who had 39 wins, with $6,591,860 in earnings. He was twice voted the Eclipse Award for Horse of the Year in 1981 and 1984, with his 1981 selection is the only one whereby the victor received all votes cast for that award. John Henry was also listed as #23 - Top 100 U.S. Racehorses of the 20th Century. He was named after the folk hero John Henry. As a colt, John Henry had a habit of tearing steel water and feed buckets off stall walls and stomping them flat. This reminded his then-owners of the legendary John Henry, who was known as a "steel-drivin' man". He was gelded both for his temperament as well as his lack of good breeding. A Golden Chance Farm foal, John Henry was from breeding that might best be described as plebeian. His sire, Ole Bob Bowers, once sold for just $900 and was not in much demand by breeders. His dam, Once Double, was an undistinguished runner and producer, but was sired by Double Jay, a brilliantly fast graded stakes race winner who had proven to be a useful broodmare sire. John Henry was sold as a yearling for $1,100 at the Keeneland January Mixed sale to John Calloway who is credited with giving John Henry his name. Besides being back at the knee (a flaw in conformation that generally makes a long racing career unlikely), undersized, and plainly bred, John Henry had bumped his head in his stall just before being led to the ring, bloodying his face. He had a series of trainers, making his mark as a workmanlike racehorse who earned money in minor stakes, allowance races, and mid-level claiming races. One such allowance race took place at Saratoga Race Course on August 8, 1978. The race is of note in that John Henry finished behind Darby Creek Road who won in a track record time of 1:20 2/5 for seven furlongs. Also of note was the fact that unknown to all attending that day, the race card featured two future National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame horses. John Henry was euthanized at 7:05 pm EDT (2305 UTC) on October 8, 2007 at the age of 32. He had developed serious kidney problems in August 2007, while Central Kentucky was experiencing a heat wave. On October 6, he stopped responding to veterinary treatment, and the decision was made to put him down. Many who worked with him had the chance to say their goodbyes, most notably McCarron, who was notified of the decision to euthanize at 4:30 pm, arrived at the par
