How We Met
Before I got Chief me and my sister rode at my moms friends farm on a halflinger and a retired race horse, when she had to move we leased a 22 year old quarter horse appaloosa who my sister rode I rode a HUGE paint. Finally the lease ended and I started to beg for a horse. I know childish, but I LOVE horses! We looked all over for the perfect horse, when we found Chief I knew he was the one. When we went to test ride him his owner set up jumps and barrels and let us do what we want! When we bought him we started to load him into the trailer which he thought was to small so he reared and cut under his eye, luckily not his eye or tearduct. Tragic first day, but it healed and I LOVE HIM!!!!!!.

Thanks for visiting and voting! I know it's been a long time since I wrote in the blogs, but I'm here to catch up. I love your pictures of Chief in the snow. Guess what? I found my own horse on Whinny Warz!! I've been playing that game for over a year, and suddenly, while I was playing this morning, THERE SHE WAS! Plus, I got 500 points for finding her.
I hope the new year has been good to you so far. I have lots of riding plans for once the weather improves, but for now, I'm just doing ground work and trick training. It's actually pretty fun.

I was thinking start with free and do that for a few months and work my way up to half and full lease.What do you think is that a good idea.

???I NEED ANSWERS???
Hey I have been begging for a horse my whole life.And early this summer I went to a horse camp.The camp staff there said that I should take lessons,lease and then own.But lately I have been wondering if I want to skip leasing.I take lessons and am learning fast my trainer says.So should I lease or not?If I do lease should I do free lease or just do like a regular lease?I have been around horses my whole life and have studied probably to much for my brain but,I remember all of it.So should I lease or do lessons and buy?

Wow, Chief is really pretty! I am crazy for the spotted horses! Thanks so much for your vote...it was such a wonderful surprise to see Luna had been voted HOTD...and she wasn't even running for it! I gave her extra carrots, of course. I went riding yesterday, but afterwards I tried something I saw in a YouTube video. I started teaching her to "shake hands" (or hoofs? LOL). She started getting the idea of what I want after about 15 minutes. She doesn't offer up a hoof on command yet, but she started lifting her hoof towards me (instead of backwards, as if I was going to clean the hoof)and letting me hold it as long as I like. So that's progress, and today I will repeat until she gets it. It's just a stupid trick, but it's fun!
I'm glad you mentioned the french link snaffle. I knew about it, but for some reason never thought of it for Luna. And you're right, bitless works for trail riding, but you have to have contact to ride dressage. thanks for the info!
It's getting real cold around here now, but that won't keep me away from Luna. Have a horsey day! Voted.

Beautiful Appy!
Hey guys, how did your Monday go?
It finally warmed up a little, but its still windy. Yesterday I rode both Misty and Dakota, they where full of pep and lots of fun to ride. While I was riding Dakota some beef calves got out, so we chased them in, and later while I was riding Misty, the Holstein steers got out so we chased them in too, wich was a lot of fun, the horses and I get a kick out of chasing those little rascals.
I also did some ground work with Sierra.
Question of the day: If you had the chance to spend a day with a famous horseman or horsewoman of your choice, who would you choose and why?
I would probably choose Clinton Anderson, as his method seems to be very effective.

I just put some new pics in of me and my sis at a mid-state show, Im the redhead. Alex my sis is the blonde. I did english pleasure, english equitation, and trail class. My sis did western pleasure, western equitation, trail class, and barrel racing.
For ribbons I got...
Eng. pleasure: 1st place
Eng. equitation: 2nd place
Trail class: 2nd place
And overall I was reserve champion.

Hi Chief, here's a vote for ya. Well, today was a run-a-round morning. Went down to the ole'work place to pick up last week's pay check. Now I start with my four vacation checks coming in yet. Then did a lot of errands to different stores. Got home and it was so windy. I decided to just do Showmanship work with Indy in the indoor. Wind was blowing and banging the hugh doors. So I really didn't feel like riding. Then turned the boys out for more grass time. Harley and I stacked some more firewood for next season. About 1/2 a cord to stack yet. After a disturbing disappearance of Joanna, Sadie's owner, Joyce informed us that Joanna had passed away in her sleep at the tender age of 34 on September 23, 2011. It was only then that her many health conditions were revealed. Even though being confined to her bed for the past 9 years, Joanna never once revealed a single pain to us. What a remarkable YOUNG person to have as a friend.
It was in 1991 that Joanna & her mom purchased Pixie Dust to share with the Bloomfield Hills School Farm. For 7 years Joanna helped her mom create & teach Love-A-Pony, an afterschool & summer class for children.

Happy Holidays from Lucky Four Ranch! I went to see a Cirque Du Soleil show tonight! Amazing! If you ever get the opportunity to see one of their shows...GO. I've been riding Lucky, he's doing great. Christmas came early for the herd...they all got WeatherBeeta turnout blankets. All the same color...even little Ace. He looks adorable in his little blanket. lol

haha thank you! im still waiting for some snow but i don't think it will be any time soon! haha it's been unusually warm around here. last year it was below freezing around this time! sandy tends to get all goofy when he gets out in the snow! haha he loves to dig in it :) one time i was taking some pics of him in the snow and i took my gloves off so i could take the pictures. next thing i know sandy has my gloves in his mouth trying to rub them into the snow! haha then he flipped them up in the air and gave me a look like 'what?!' lol! ill put a pic up as my profile pic tomorrow of this moment :) haha anyways leavin a vote and hope all is well!
p.s. do you have any funny snow stories with your horse?

How are you doing? Is it cold there? Brrr, winter has really set in here. No snow but it's cold! Down in the teens at night but not so bad while the sun is out in the afternoon. I'm always glad that Pippin grows a nice thick arctic coat. He's never cold!
I want to make a memorial tribute video for Barbara Knight, owner of Princess Shawnie and the other Knight mares. Would you like to be a part of that? I'm not sure yet how I'm going to do it. I don't want to do the same as for Joanna but maybe something similar. And I'll probably add some cat and dog friends too since she was also on those channels.
I just got back from a hike with Pippin and my friends and our dogs. As soon as the sun went behind the mountains it was COLD! I think we walked home faster than we walked out! Maybe we're barn sour! hehe
I hope you're doing fine and enjoying the horses in your life. My sister have been enjoying driving Eddie and Prince. No riding for now. We've been banned because of my last concussion. I can't say we're not greatly disappointed. But, maybe this will give my head some time to heal.
