How We Met
First of all Zero is an amazing horse and I am very blessed to be able to work with him! My 4-H advisor owns him and leases him to me. Thank you LT!! I can't imagine loving any other horse this much!
9/6/12-So we are moving and I can't lease Zero anymmore :( I will hopefully find a new horse but it won't be the same. I love you Big Boy! I will try to keep up with all of our amazing HC friends, but might not have internet in our new place at first. Love y'all and God Bless!

Happy Friday!
Here's a vote for Zero. I spent the big blizzard vacationing in Orlando, swimming in the hotel pool (yeah, I know, I'm a brat LOL)! I didn't do anything "horsey" on vacation, but the theme parks were fun, and I got to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, because I'm a big Harry Potter nerd. My kids even talked me into riding a big scary loopy roller coaster...yikes!

History on the Gorgeous Akhal-Teke

The Akhal-Teke evolved about three thousand years ago in southern Turkmenistan where they are the national emblem. They are named after the nomadic tribe that bred them and are found mostly in Turkmenistan and Russia. These beautiful horses adapt to severe, climatic conditions and remain to be one of the oldest and purest breed of horse still living today. They are thought to be the predecessors of the Arabian and English thoroughbred breeds. Due to their endless stamina and the ability to withstand great extremes of temperature they were originally bred as war mounts and later for racing. Today the Akhal-Teke is used in all competitive equine sports including endurance, dressage, jumping, and eventing. Hi, heres a vote. I rode Dakota yesterday, he is such a good little guy, laid back and calm when little kids want to ride him but nice and spunky when I ride him-just the way I like it. I rode him over to my aunts place where Misty and Sierra are kept. He likes to hang out with Misty and Sierra, but I suspect that the real reason he is always so happy to go to there is the big bale of alfalfa that he always parks himself at. I did some work with Sierra, she is getting really good at backing, she now backs up nice and straight without me having to correct her.
If you get a chance, please go check out the HC Photography Club#247236. The HC Photography Club is a club that doesn't give your horse an official badge,but does let them be recognized,and the quality of the photo should not be judged,but the quality of the awesome horse. Please go check it out.

Ok I'd like to tell everyone that I am sorry that I haven't been on as much. I was planning on getting on every weekend but then Joy's cancer came back and life got super busy.
Joy is doing good. She is home until the Wednesday after Thanksgiving and then she will be going back to the hospital for more chemo. Hopefully, she'll be home for Christmas. After Christmas she is gonna have her bone marrow transplant and then we will move up back by the hopsital. Joy is doing good. She is running around and being full of trouble.
The horses are doing pretty good. Sugar and Ransom seem to be doing better with each other. They don't really pick fights with each other anymore and they seem to enjoy each others company. However, they don't like the donkeys we got.
We got some donkeys (two of them a jenny and her foal) last Saturday. The mama's name is Angela and the foal's name is Elva. They are both settling into life here very well. I'm gonna to make a profile on here for them.

I didn't realize just how long it has been since I have been on here last. I haven't meant to be off of here for so long but life got VERY busy. I'm going to try and get on at least once a week. It will probably be during the weekend sometime.
Sugar is doing pretty good. Last weekend I woke up on Saturday to find that someone had come in the night and cut her tail!! I don't know why anyone would want to cut a poor pony's tail. Do you have any idea at all why someone would want to? If you do please let me know. Sug is unharmed and doing fine. In fact, she has been very frisky lately. The other day I was moving her to the pasture and she almost dragged me there cuz she was so excited to get there.
Ransom is doing very well. His tail has not been cut. Thank goodness I don't know if I'd be able to handle both of their tails being cut!! A month or so back Ransom was giving me troubles when I was leading him around. I worked with him for a couple of weeks and now he acts like a perfect gentleman. I sure love that boy!!
My family is doing all right. Joy is doing good. She got some cells from Hannah in the beginning of September and we are waiting for her to have a reaction to them so we can move on. Also Joy is going to be a big sister. However poor Noah is getting another sister, so he is going to be the only boy.
I fixed the horses' fence last weekend with my dad cuz the horses had been getting out quite a bit. I'm very busy with school any more. Besides my regular classes I have driver's ed. Thankfully it ends next Friday. I'm hoping to get some new pics of the horses. If I do then I'll try to post them sometime if I do manage to get any. Leaving a vote. Happy Monday!
I'm sorry it's been so long since I've been on HC. I was recently laid off a job I've had for 10 years (a merger/corporate buyout thing), so I've been busy dealing with that.
I did buy a new saddle though. I've ridden English my whole life, but a friend encouraged me to try Western, so I got a Western saddle for trail rides. I didn't know how to do up the girth though, so I felt silly asking someone to help! I admit, though, it was a REAL comfortable saddle.
I've been having such a blast with Luna lately. She's really become quite friendly, almost like a dog.
Yesterday, she was laying on the ground when I went out to see her, so I just went right up to her and laid down with her! It was so fun!
The weather here in Illinois turned real cold real fast, and I bet the weather in Ohio is pretty bitter, too. I guess Winter is definitely coming LOL!

I will hopefully be back on HC more often now that things have slowed down a little. I had a really great summer, and I am looking forward to the some what slower pace of fall...lol! The newest pics I posted are from the county fair I took Skye to. I was so happy to come home with a second place finish in our Halter class. She is starting to get the idea that going really fast is a lot of fun...not too helpful in the Western classes, but great in speed! I had Sadie and Star out of the corral for a couple of days. Since the corral is small, they're able to get some exercise and get away from some of the flies. Had to put them both up, because Sadie was into everything. She took the doors off of my tough shed where I had some hay stored and dragged it out. Good there wasn't much. How are you doing? Enjoying a nice weekend? It's still hot here during the day but quite cool at night. No frost yet which is great. More garden veggies!
Been working on setting up a pen for Eddie within Pippin's big day paddock. It will be small but enough for Eddie at night. During the afternoon the two of them will be loose together and I'm pretty sure Pippin will be boss. Eddie is more submissive and Pippin is anything but!
Tomorrow we'll finish the gate, shed, and posts, and Eddie will be coming Tuesday morning! I can't believe we're finally going to have a big horse. Actually, he's a HUGE horse. He's 18.2hh and Pippin is 31". Can't get much bigger a difference than that! Should make for some great photos and video.

It sure does get cool these nights. How are nightly temps at your house?
I enjoyed a lovely afternoon with my middle son, horses, and doggies. My son can crack a bull whip. I have been trying to do this for years. Finally today I did it ONE time. It would not work after that. Ha, ha. I did manage to sting my belly one good time. That was the end of my trying.
Fancy and my 14 week old Siberian Husky pup = Bandit seem to get along fine. Bandit was bouncing all over Fancy while she ate grass. When I brought my 10 month old Siberian Husky = Tori out, Fancy snorted at her, but Trigger and Tori got along just fine. Bandit ran to hide from Tori and he would peek out to see where she was. Fancy & Bandit think Tori's hyperness is annoying. LOL.

It hasn't rained, anymore, since Monday night. We're all good. The desert soaked up the rain, so, no flooding. The girls have been out of the corral for several days. Sadie was running and playing. Sure hated to put her up. She's got piles of poo everywhere. Star wasn't thrilled about going back into the corral, either. I'll let them out some Thursday. Just love them and the way Sadie loves to hang around me. Getting their hooves done in a couple of weeks, then ride time. Hugs and a late Wednesday vote. Fox and Gazelle have a little yearling brother "Quest" and today he somehow mangled his back pastern. It is pretty nasty to look at. September is not treating my horses very well with first Gazelle going lame and now this.

Hi Zero, we show in Halter, Showmanhip, Western Pleasure and Horsemanship for now. Paige will be learning Trail class next season. Show at Palomino shows and Quarter Horse show. Sounds like the poor boy had enough all ready. I hope that he stays out of trouble and is like Felix the cat with 9 lives. So this way he still has 5 more to go. My other horse, Angel H.T. was like that. And oldly enough, it was his 9th time that got him over the Rainbow's Bridge, just last Oct as a matter of fact. Miss that lug head. Well, this spring a toranado came through our place,picked up Misty and Sierra's 3 sided shed and blew it over the fence.Misty and Sierra got really spooked and ran through 3 strands of barbed wire and got some really bad gashes.I wasn't there when it happened, but my aunt was there and she said that there was a lot of stuff blowing around and that it was a miracle one of them hadn't gotten killed. Congrats on HOTD!
That would be terrible to have to move away from your favorite horse :( I was so excited when I got my own horse, but I have never ridden her because I have back problems. I'm in 4-H also! I mostly show rabbits and hogs, but when my back gets better I want to show Thalia.

The profile photo shown today on Little Cowboy & Trigger's page is of them presenting the US Flag at our last fun show this past Sunday.
Little Cowboy & Trigger were the only horse & rider team ready for the job of presenting the flag, so they went it alone. It was very nice to see that flag fly, but we hope to have more horse & rider teams ready to present flags next year.
I have seen some horse & rider flag team pics in the VHS on HC. Do you have a horse & rider flag team in your area or have you carried any flag by horseback? It is fun! About 18 or so years ago, I carried our team flag by horseback, during parades.
