My Horse Profile

Thoroughbred from Pony Land (Yay), MA

Baruch, In Loving Memory

About Me

Active within 2328 Days

I am from Pony Land (Yay), MA and I've been a Club Horse member for 6 years, 4 months and 19 days

Nicknames: His registered name was Teenage King, I picked his barm name because he reminded me of the love the angels Baruch and Balthamos shared in the book The Amber Spyglass. As for nicknames, whenever I would go to the barn I'd say I'm going to visit The King so that's kinda one, we also called him Bar Bar, Picky Picky (like the cat in the child's books about Ramona Quimby), The Teddy Bear Man, Fluffy, Fluffers, and Toober

Age: 23 years old

Gender: Gelding

Breed: Thoroughbred

Height: 16.1hh

Color: Dark bay, with stripe and coronet bands

Type of Riding: We pretty much did hunter/jumper minus the jumps. We also did a lot of trails and ground work (I could sit for hours just stroking him in the pasture)

My Horse's Achievements: I only had him for a little less then a year but I will NEVER forget him. He was my first horse and the only horse who I have ever truly owned. And he was my true love! No boy will ever be able to take his place, EVER!

My Horse's Favorite Treat: Ha ha he was quite the pig, there really wasn't anything he didn't like, but he did get this special twinkle in his eye when he heard his grain bucket being filled with LMF Senior Feed.

My Horse's Favorite Things To Do: He loved his life in the pasture where he lived one other thoroughbred who was equally as timid as he named Bob, and he loved being brushed but only with a body brush and he especially loved having his face wiped with a warm cloth.

Pet Peeves: He hated confined spaces (I totally understand that), and you always had to be real gentle with him because he had such a delicate loving personality (darn, I'm about to start crying this is much harder then I thought)

My Horse's motto: A horse loves freedom, and the weariest old work horse will roll on the ground or break into a lumbering gallop when he is turned loose into the open. ~Gerald Raferty

How We Met

After years of working at my aunts barn (riding, training, mucking stalls, you name it) my parents had some how come up with the money to get me my very own horse, since from a young age my aunt always taught me it was better to save a life then create a new one, my family took a trip to a local auction where we found him. He was underweight but not devastatingly so, what really caught my eye was how he was standing while the other horses were pacing and acting up he just looked sad and broken, standing by himself with his nose nearly touching the ground, it broke my heart, so even though I had my choice of younger better suited horses I picked him and didn't regret it once.
He passed on June 17 2011 one day before his seventeenth birthday.

A Superb Saturday vote to YOU this morning :)

OOh, let me tell you about Scotty. Friday, I didn't bathe him, I groomed him first and took one photo. I was sure my son would want to spend time with Scotty, so I planned on getting plenty of photos after school. We returned from after school pic up and Scotty was much dirtier than he was before I groomed him! Well, I had to attend to Miss Pant's having her spa day, so Scotty will get attention another day.

Friday, I enjoyed the most Fancy time ever. I guess for her it was spa day. She enjoyed grass while I bathed her, then we took our neighborhood stroll to let her coat dry. When we returned from our stroll, I plaited her mane. I was surprised at how much frosting has grown in her mane and this is the thickest I have seen her coat since I got her from VA at 10 months of age. When I got Fancy, she looked more like a very tall shaggy straggly dog LOL.

Have a wonderful horsey weekend!
Be Blessed!

Farewell Prayer
Written By
Lisa M. Bakos

Lay down, my friend, and close your sweet eyes…
when next you awake, you’ll look down from blue skies.
Free from the pain, you will run in full stride,
with friends from the past and through fields far and wide.
With God as your master to take care of you,
every day up in heaven, you’ll feel love so true.
And all of the gifts that you gave me each day,
will come back to you as you frolic and play.

Then some day, my sweet love, I’ll see you once more,
as you greet me with nickers as you’ve done before.
So know that I love you and with me you’ll be,
in my heart everyday as I dream of you free.

Come visit me, Little Spirit, Kola & Arapaho Annie.
