Thanks everyone! :)
Thanks for all the votes and kind words. I love her so much. We have been through a lot together. Hubby & I used to go on weekend camp outs as members of the League of Maryland Horsemen, enjoying 5-6 hour trail rides day and night, great food and friends, sleeping in a tent near our horses, waking up to the sounds of happy horses, etc. Josie & I have had many fun adventures and close calls (falling over a cliff into a stream, riding on dangerous terrain, Josie running into a gate latch poking a hole in her skull, then losing her eye to a fungal infection in 2001). She always comes out on top, hence her motto "never give up". She is an amazing horse that will always be a part of me. I love having her here at my house, being able to look out my window and see her every day. Our vet is amazed at her beauty and good health for her age. She even has a boyfriend, a gelding named Parker, but it is a long distance relationship. :)

Come visit me, Josie.

Your Horse is Lovely!
I love the picture of her with the trees behind her (second row, last one on the right). She seems like such a playful, loveable old girl.
I left you a vote.

Wow, that is amazing. Truly. WE have a dog with only one eye, and she can still jump in the back of the pickup, jump into my Dad's arms, open doors, crawl backwards, and hit the off switch on our ski-doos. It's great!
This is really amazing. Leaving a vote:)

Wolken Whinnying a Congrats to Josie♥
Putting my hoof on your horse shoe for vote 9 and welcome to HC! Have a DANDY *H*O*T*D* and keep going strong pretty mare! I had mostly mares all my life, lost my tobiano paint mare Christmas 2010 and now getting a Hanoverian who had been abused. Love at first sight! AND he is only easy around a few men as a man mishandled and beat him. He is a gentle giant, come see us and enjoy your day of honor and EVERY DAY♡

and Welcome to HOrseChannel!!! What a nice horse you have. She sounds so sweet.

FANCY'S PERCEPTIONS, Celebrate BlackHistory Month:
Willie Simms, born 1/16/1870, near Augusta, Georgia, U.S.—died 2/26/1927, Asbury, New Jersey), 1 of only 2 African American jockeys (the other is Isaac Burns Murphy) 2 have been elected 2 the National Museum of Racing’s Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs, New York.
Simms began racing in 1887 & became the most successful rider 2 adopt the short stirrup since the antebellum slave & rider Abe Hawkins. The short stirrup lifts the rider over the horse’s withers, allowing the animal better balance. In 1895 Simms became the 1st American jockey 2 win in England, where sportswriters referred 2 him as a “monkey on a stick.” The short stirrup earned more esteem after the white American jockey Tod Sloan used it 2 win English races in 1897, & it came to be known as the “American seat.”
Simms won the Belmont Stakes in 1893 & 1894, the Kentucky Derby in 1896 & 1898, & the Preakness Stakes in 1898; he is the only African American 2 have won all of the Triple Crown classics. Simms was the leading American jockey (on the basis of number of wins) in 1893 & 1894. He retired in 1901 with 1 of the best lifetime winning percentages in the sport, 24.8.

Congrats on HOTD!
HI Josie, congrats on going HOTD and here's another vote for ya. That's great that she is going strong for ya. You know, that you have to write to quarter horse each jan and tell them that you're horse is still alive and doing well. Otherwise they list them as deceased. It happens at the age of 25 on records. Let them know how great she is doing and you still trail ride her. She's really nice looking and I hope you have many more years of good riding ahead of you.
