So, now Sterl May is safely at the boarding barn, life is good. I HAVE MY OWN HORSE, I had to tell you all about Sonya because I never would have made it thru the training and frustration without her. It did not take long to see that Sterly knew NOTHING about being ridden, she had had someone on her back a handful of times, but trained she wasn't. She had no bend, no flexibility, she had no idea what aids were, her head was straight up and out, when she was confused which was often, she paced. That was her comfort zone. But, none of that mattered to me, she was mine, we would learn together. As lucky as I was to have Sonya, Sterly was lucky to have Doolie(Sonya's horse) his stall was across the aisle from her. And of course, when I rode, especially at first Sonya was always there. Sterly had this huge crush on Doolie and once in the arena, she would follow him anywhere. I kept Fool Kat for those times when nothing went right and I just wanted to ride and noT really work SO HARD at it. We started lessons with Sonya's coach, in the beginning it wasn't pretty, but like I said, we were both learning together. Roxanne loved STERL MAY, after caring for her for the first 4 years of her life, she could not let her go. Sterly spent the next 6 years of her life at Roxanne's friends place, she was not a problem, she had two other horses to play with. It was always Roxy's plan to make Sterl a riding horse, and to be fair she did go out and ride her a few times over the years, but as we all know too well, life gets in the way. Fast forward Roxanne's life, there was a marriage a couple of moves, eventually she and her husband tried to set up a small breeding farm, they wanted to try and make it in the STANDARDBRED business, so they gathered a few mares and they even trained a couple for the track. Sterly came home. It is a tough business and it costs lots of money, money that they were not making, they both were holding down full time jobs as well as trying to make it racing. Long story short, it took about a year to realize they were broke and so liquidate the liabilities keep the assets. Sterly had to go. This is where I come in. At the boarding barn where I leased there was one other English rider, I would plan my trips to the barn when I knew she would be there, she is the one that over heard the conversation about me wanting to get MY OWN HORSE. She told me about Sterly, so I called Roxanne, I went to meet her and with my borrowed saddle and bridle I rode her right there in her paddock. The rest of that day you can read in her profile "how we met" STERLY had just turned 11 when Roxy and I delivered her to the boarding barn, I had my own horse, and she was BEAUTIFUL. What a handsome fellow! I love paints as much as I love my chubby little haffie. My hubby has a paint...we found him online and when we went to see him we just couldn't leave him where he was as his living conditions were bad, but he is happy now and we just love him to pieces. :)

Hi!
Today I started jumping with Comanche, because I had no jumps there I used an old ladder and placed it on its side. He did really good for never walking/troting over fences! + he only has had 45 days under saddle training!!!!!!!
My brother rode little Robin and him and that pony took off! ;)
It was so cute!

FANCY'S PERCEPTIONS, in honor of Angel Pixie Dust's (profile 101958) May HOTM campaign for our Angel Joanna, ANGELS HAVE NO PHILOSOPHY BUT LOVE:

I dedicate this special occasion of our first show together to Joanna and Pixie Dust.

Fancy spent Friday night in a blanket with hopes she would be more clean than dirty come morning. The back clip had come undone, but that blanket did serve the purpose. Fancy only had one area on the side of her neck that was dirty. Once at the farm, I cleaned her dirty spot and her feet before introducing Fancy to the sandy arena. At first she was a little excited to be in a new place, but soon settled down. We only entered two classes this time. Fancy was fine, except she did not like horses standing behind her. When horses were lined up behind us, Fancy kept trying to spin around to see exactly what they had in mind back there.
We entered class 2 Adult Halter with 6 entries and Fancy placed 3rd!!!! This was the first time I ever won a ribbon with any horse!!! I was so excited. We didn't do so well in Class 3 as we placed 5th out of 5. However, We did leave with 2 ribbons from our first show!!!

I really hope you have enjoyed reading and learned some things about our Angel Joanna. Thanks for reading these blogs and taking into consideration how Joanna touched many lives during her short stay on earth. We never knew just how giving she was until it was too late.

Joanna loved animals, but she had other loves in her life as well. Joanna was loved by not only her personal family and HorseChannel friends. I learned that Jane Seymour, star of Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, was a very personal close friend that paid several visits to Joanna. You see, people of all walks of life could benefit from knowing such a loving & kind spirit.

Joanna often mentioned Dancing With The Stars in her blogs. When Jane was on Dancing With The Stars I don't think Joanna would have missed a single show. Joanna has managed a fan website for Jane's Dancing With The Stars partner, Tony Dovolani and Karina Smirnoff. Joanna spent her last evening watching Dancing with the stars. ONLY NOW, I know how important the very thought of dancing must have been to Joanna. I bet the first thing she did when she arrived in Heaven was to dance. Something that so many of us take for granted. I hope that sometime today you will stand on your feet when you hear your favorite song or hum a tune to yourself and dance a few steps in honor of our Angel Joanna.

I hope through these blogs you can understand how unique Joanna was and the way she inspired me to try my best to be a better person. We all experience turbulence in our lives. But this young lady was able to look past the turbulence in her life with an amazing desire to share life and love with others. In spite of her many health issues, Joanna was a blessing to those that knew her.

Thanks to those of you who know about Angel Pixie Dust's May HOTM run and are understanding about my blogs. Trying to reach those who never got to meet Joanna.............. I've been a member of HC since Jan,27,2010. I've met some of the most amazing people here. Made some wonderful friends who I love very much. I was blessed with the opportunity become friends with Joanna here and on FaceBook. What a beautiful, sweet spirit. Since Joanna passed away, many of us were and still are, heartbroken. LAST DAY TO VOTE, PLEASE
So, sometime things go great, and other times, not so much!! First Carole called to see if Zack could come for class at 4:30 instead of 6:00, I said sure, but , David had the truck so we took the car, it was out of gas, so we had to stop for gas,we had to hurry,guess what, we hurried a little to much and we got a speeding ticket. Then, it was pouring rain and it was windy, the arena has a metal roof, the noise was terrible, we could not concentrate, we couldn't hear, and so he barked a LOT.We had no fun at all, so we came home and Zack went to bed. Tomorrow is another day. I can't always be good!! I love that dog. Left a vote. Wish us luck on our HOTM run, we will know the results Sunday morning. Thanks to all that helped. Love, Donna Lee
