How We Met
I actually never owned her in the sense that i paid for her, but in every other sense she was mine, I took care of her everyday, and rode her the most. To this day she owns my heart, even after she moved to Florida with her owner!!.

So, now Sterl May is safely at the boarding barn, life is good. I HAVE MY OWN HORSE, I had to tell you all about Sonya because I never would have made it thru the training and frustration without her. It did not take long to see that Sterly knew NOTHING about being ridden, she had had someone on her back a handful of times, but trained she wasn't. She had no bend, no flexibility, she had no idea what aids were, her head was straight up and out, when she was confused which was often, she paced. That was her comfort zone. But, none of that mattered to me, she was mine, we would learn together. As lucky as I was to have Sonya, Sterly was lucky to have Doolie(Sonya's horse) his stall was across the aisle from her. And of course, when I rode, especially at first Sonya was always there. Sterly had this huge crush on Doolie and once in the arena, she would follow him anywhere. I kept Fool Kat for those times when nothing went right and I just wanted to ride and noT really work SO HARD at it. We started lessons with Sonya's coach, in the beginning it wasn't pretty, but like I said, we were both learning together. Roxanne loved STERL MAY, after caring for her for the first 4 years of her life, she could not let her go. Sterly spent the next 6 years of her life at Roxanne's friends place, she was not a problem, she had two other horses to play with. It was always Roxy's plan to make Sterl a riding horse, and to be fair she did go out and ride her a few times over the years, but as we all know too well, life gets in the way. Fast forward Roxanne's life, there was a marriage a couple of moves, eventually she and her husband tried to set up a small breeding farm, they wanted to try and make it in the STANDARDBRED business, so they gathered a few mares and they even trained a couple for the track. Sterly came home. It is a tough business and it costs lots of money, money that they were not making, they both were holding down full time jobs as well as trying to make it racing. Long story short, it took about a year to realize they were broke and so liquidate the liabilities keep the assets. Sterly had to go. This is where I come in. At the boarding barn where I leased there was one other English rider, I would plan my trips to the barn when I knew she would be there, she is the one that over heard the conversation about me wanting to get MY OWN HORSE. She told me about Sterly, so I called Roxanne, I went to meet her and with my borrowed saddle and bridle I rode her right there in her paddock. The rest of that day you can read in her profile "how we met" STERLY had just turned 11 when Roxy and I delivered her to the boarding barn, I had my own horse, and she was BEAUTIFUL. Roanie is beautiful! I don't know what it is about mares but I absolutely adore them....maybe it's because being a female myself, I understand the moods they can sometimes have. LOL It's great that you had her in your life and have sweet memories of her, yet sad that she has moved so far away.

Pixie Dust, belonged to our Facebook pal and HorseChannel member, Joanna Wicke. Joanna was loved by all who knew her. She was always positive and uplifting to others. Joanna welcomed Fancy and I to HorseChannel with unbelievable love and daily support. After a disturbing disappearance of Joanna, Sadie's owner, Joyce informed us that Joanna had passed away in her sleep at the tender age of 34 on September 23, 2011. It was only then that her many health conditions were revealed. Even though being confined to her bed for the past 9 years, Joanna never once revealed a single pain to us. What a remarkable YOUNG person to have as a friend.
It was in 1991 that Joanna & her mom purchased Pixie Dust to share with the Bloomfield Hills School Farm. For 7 years Joanna helped her mom create & teach Love-A-Pony, an afterschool & summer class for children.

Thanks to those of you who know about Angel Pixie Dust's May HOTM run and are understanding about my blogs. Trying to reach those who never got to meet Joanna.............. I've been a member of HC since Jan,27,2010. I've met some of the most amazing people here. Made some wonderful friends who I love very much. I was blessed with the opportunity become friends with Joanna here and on FaceBook. What a beautiful, sweet spirit. Since Joanna passed away, many of us were and still are, heartbroken. Very pretty

I am loving this warm weather we have been having here! Thursday is supposed to be 20 degrees!
I don’t have a lesson this week because of March break :( but last week’s lesson was great, I jumped a 2’9 oxer with a 12 hand pony! We did lots of angle work too! It was fun!
