How We Met
A Good Friend of ours owns and Opperates A Appaloosa Horse Farm and somone she new had horses and they passed away and she went to go get there horses and she ask my mom and dad if i could have Rodeny we told them YES and they brought him out to our house on a day before Thanksgiving. ..that year i said i was thankful for having 2 wonderful horses given to me! I've had him for 2 years now. He is in his 30's and still going strong. we took him and Roper to the vet not too long ago and they say his teeth look great for his age. He does has joint and tendon problems in his legs and has arthritist but he has medicine and does well has a lesson horse for 1-7 year olds and I ride him off and on...dont like to ride him too much do to problems in his legs..

Thank ya'll so much for Sugar's HOTD!!! I was so surprised when I saw her in the HOTD window!! Not much is going on today. Just relaxing and waiting for time to pass. Being on HC sure helps. Thank ya'll so much for putting up and understanding my horse craziness. :) How are you doing? Have you got any horse time in?
To continue my story of Sugar. I saw the pictures of Sugar and I instantly fell in love with her. A few days later I went to test ride her. She behaved like an angel and was a great mount for my beginner skills. A week or two later Sugar came to her new home. It was a dream come true for me. She stayed in a lil shed by the place we were staying at and I had to lead her everyday to the pasture that she could graze in. I'll put more up tomorrow.

We got some more snow today,but no accumulation so it didn't last long. It is suppose to be like that for the next few days. I had a Writing&Grammer test today and I got a 95% which is an A!! Also yesterday I turned in my writing assignment and I got a B on it!! That is really good cuz my writing assignments haven't been the best lately. Thank ya'll so much for Elva's HOTD!!! It means so much to me!! Not much is going on today. Just school and a few chores. It did snow some this afternoon but it melted away as soon as it landed, which is fine by me. :) I'm thinking about trying to get Sugar to run for April's HOTM. Little Cowboy Class/ Word of the day: Barn Sour - An affliction common to horse people in northern climates during the winter months. Trudging through deep snow, pushing wheelbarrows through snow and beating out frozen water buckets tend to bring on this condition rapidly.
COWBOY & TRIGGER: A TALE OF TWO:
Before I joined HC, every Arabian I ever saw was high strung and wild! I was very surprised to see Arabians that were sensible enough to allow a child to ride. Trigger is an 18 year old Arabian that only has sight in one eye. Trigger is quite the surprise to me. His sweet quiet nature is a pleasant surprise indeed. Trigger is calm when Cowboy is highstrung. I guess that is why they work so well together :)
Well we had a great time last night at our horse club end of year banquet! Little Cowboy won first place in the youth trail riding awards program and I won 2nd place in the adult trail riding program!

The very first time Cowboy rode Trigger in the back yard, out of the corral, Trigger would not listen to Cowboy. Cowboy was very upset, he said he wanted my horse (Fancy) because she would go. I rode Trigger outside the corral for three days and after that he did not give Cowboy any trouble.

Brrr, it was cold and windy again yesterday, but this morning it looks like the wind finally died down. Yesterday I didnt do any riding, I just did some groundwork with Sierra.I have been teaching her to back out my space by wiggling the leadrope, and she is getting pretty good at it, except I cant seem to get her to back up straight. When I wiggle the leadrope she pulls her head to the side and backs up sideways.I have tried bumping her head back around every time she pulls it away, but then as soon as I ask her to back up, she just pulls it away again. Does anyone have any tips for me on how to get her to back up straight? If you do, they would be much appreciated.
Question of the day: How often do you ride your horse, and for how long?
I ussually ride every other day, and for about an hour and a half at a time.(Of course this varies)

Thank you so much for the comments about my Appaloosa. It's gotta be the spots...I'm crazy for them! Rodney has stunning markings. He's quite a handsome boy, and judging from his pictures, he's pretty mellow too. What a good looking gelding for his age.
