Saying goodbye
Goodbye is the most relieving thing to say when you want to leave and the hardest one when you don't want them to go. Last Saturday Aramis was picked up by his owner. He was only a lease and with the arrival of Cruise I had no time for him. He was unhappy with that and I knew I had to make a very hard decision. His owner came to a point where she could take him home and I agreed that he should go with her. It was hard and I miss him but I know it was the right thing to do. He is happy and settled back where he belongs. I spent the whole morning cleaning him up shedding him out, grooming him, washing his tail and legs, cleaned his sheath, and packed up his stuff. I sent the few things he came with back and gave his owner his leather halter, SmartPaks and anything else that was his while I had him. I hand grazed him on the front lawn and it tore my heart out when he came over and nickered to me and put his head in my arms just to be close, the way we always used to. With tears in my eyes, I kissed his cute little nose and (despite his antics) helped load him on a trailer...for the last time. Aramis, you and all you taught me will forever be in my heart! Here's your Saturday vote from Fancy & Trigger ♥
Fancy is in the stall, while Trigger wanders around peacefully. It was warm this morning but it cooled down quickly with a few drops of rain. Knowing Spring is certain to be here in a few days, I have felt excitement for upcoming horsey events. I hope Fancy’s booboo heals up soon. I know she is ready to get out of that stall and kick her heels up! I am ready to see her kick her heels up too!

Hi guys! Here is a vote during the first time I have really sat still in days. I am so proud of my son. He shared some private videos and images from his job. His job is very important in protecting our military members during incoming attacks and those attacks happen much more often than we would ever imagine.
I was hoping to get some pics of him and Cowboy with the horses, but our ground was too saturated and the weather was cold. Now it is very windy and the ground is still saturated.
We shared many family activities! But during this visit, I could actually stay on my feet during the skating! Cowboy received more gifts than during all his Christmases put together. And Cowboy was the top of his game when his big brother came to eat school lunch with him!
Thanks for still visiting our pages this week, & thanks for watching our video. I plan to load our next ground driving video next week, and it will be a bit more interesting! I have still voted contest each day and watch your videos too! You know I can't stay away from HC totally! I just did not have the time for all of my usual activities.
I almost forgot, my son saw our Veterans Day page, He loves it! He enjoyed all of your photos showing support for the military. Thanks guys! I hope you feel free to share that page with your military family member too!

Hi! So after that ridiculously long break from HC (which drove me crazy) I'm finally back more often! I'm in school now and super busy so visits will be more frequent now but not every day. But so glad to be on again!!!! I guess life fluxuates, whatever you know. Thanks all!

Continued history of the Canadian horse:
The Canadian breed became renowned for its abilities as a roadster, racer and stylish harness horse. By 1820, classes for Canadian Horses were being held at agricultural exhibitions in Lower Canada and in New York. Over the next decades, increasing numbers of Canadian horses, including the best stallions, were sold to the United States. Many found their way into the foundation stock of other breeds such as the Morgan, Tennessee Walker, American Saddlebred and Standardbred.
With the outbreak of the U.S. Civil War in 1861, Canadian Horses once again were used for miltary service when thousands were exported to supply the Union Army. By the end of the war in 1865, at least 30,000 Canadian Horses had been exported for military service.
Later, in 1874, Canadian Horses took part in the historic North West Mounted Police Great March West, in the Northwest Rebellion of 1885 and are even said to have served in the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Canadian Horses sent to serve in the Boer War in South Africa did so well that hundreds were subsequently purchased for the British Imperial forces and shipped overseas. During World War I, more Canadian Horses were shipped off to battle in France, never to return.
Ironically, the popularity and availability of the Canadian Horse almost caused its demise as a distinct breed.
Yesterday I rode Misty and ponied Sierra. They both did pretty good, considering I dont do it with them very often. Sometimes Sierra tends to get a bit rowdy when I am ponying her, but yesterday she was very well behaved. It is still pretty chilly out but at least the wind has died down.
Question of the day: If you were looking to buy another horse, would you rather buy a foal and train it from the begining, or buy a full grown horse that isnt trained quite the way you would like it to be?

Had a Great Day with Misty and Laura.
So today in Maryfield it was finally cool so we could ride durning the day! Went out this am to give JD his meds! Then we went back to ride Tex, but then dad came and told us there was a tornado warning . So after that we went back and finally got to ride tex, Laura was barrel racing tex. Wow! can he barrel race. 19 seconds was his fastest. Then we came home to get JD's meds and some carrots for them. When we were there I managed to catch Misty who was a pleasure to work with! Love you lots Misty!

What a beautiful sunshiny Carolina day! Looks like the perfect day for an after church horse ride. I won't get to enjoy a ride today because Little Cowboy has a Hitch in his Giddy-up. His little tummy took sick in the weee hours of the morning. Little Cowboy finally rest in bed as I thank God for the beauty of this day.
