I don't know if Sadie loves watermelon better than carrots. Cold watermelon is a wonderful way to help battle the heat...Sadie got her new 50 gallon, Rubbermaid watering trough Thursday. The metal one she was using developed holes in the bottom. It was rusting, too. I didn't think it was suppose to rust. She drank and made funny swishing noises while I filled it. Silly girl. I scrubbed the old one out. It's still in the corral, because I'm going to use it to feed her in. She was moving it around. Probably wondering why it was empty. So nosy. So hot here. Triple digits. Humidity will hit us soon... Friends came over Wednesday evening. Jessica rode Sadie first. She gave her a good workout. Then, 3 of my other friends got good rides on her, too. One's going through a rough time. She looked so sad until she got on Sadie. She wore a big smile during her ride. Amazing how a horse can lift your spirits...I rode last. I could feel the heat from Sadie through the saddle. What a good girl Sadie was. She bucked a couple of lazy times with Jessica. She didn't like needed workout she got. So thankful for Jessica and love to watch her ride. Sadie ran and played afterward. She felt great. Didn't want to be put back in the corral. I gave her cold watermelon and carrots. Her favorite treats. Plan to get together with everyone, again, next Wednesday for more rides. Love and a vote. Going to look for Sadie another misting system. I bought her a portable one last summer. She pulled it down and chewed it in half. Will have to figure out how to put it up so her big behind can't get to it. She's a busy one. She has her new fly mask on. Holding my breathe. She's terrible about tearing those up, too. Galloping by with some votes! So, spring shots/teeth work didn't happen on Fri. Our vet got backlogged with surgeries so we had to move it to this Fri (unless he gets backlogged again). After having several weeks of sunny weather sometimes getting in the 80s, the rain has returned with a vengeance. Today, we got about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of rain and man was it windy and cold! Fancy and I enjoyed a cloudy evening! We were overdue for this show practice and time just hanging out. Fancy did not fret for Trigger one bit, even though Trigger screamed murder every time we got out of his sight. We are expecting rains and clouds all week. But the weekend may be nice. We will try to practice a little each day. It was so much fun! And today was the first day Fancy was ridden since her heel injury. She was great. Like she never missed a beat. I am glad I did not rush her.

Had some Sadie time today. We both need it everyday. It's getting hot here, so I didn't ride. I put the halter on her and walked her off the property. She was a little nervous, so we took it slow, stopping when she needed to to look around and see that she was okay. Neighborhood dogs were barking at us. She walked a little fast on the way back to the house. Had to keep stopping her to slow her down. She loved it. Going to walk her more often to get her use going off the property. Going to work up to riding her. Last time I rode her off the property, she was nervous and wanted to fight me. She should trust me more now. Hugs and a vote. Went out to check on Sadie when I got home from work last night. She'd torn her fly mask off. It lasted 10 days. Hope to someday move away from the egg ranch. The flies are horrible. I hope all of you moms had a beautiful Mother's Day. I had to work, but didn't mind. Being a mom and loving my sons and they loving me in return is what makes it so special. An emotional week this week. My oldest son, a Msgt in the Air Force, leaves the end of this week for 3 years in Germany. He and his oldest son celebrate their birthdays this week, too. Are you finally enjoying spring? We went out of town last night to help a friend. It was soo late when we returned I had to call it a night. Fancy is ready for fun. She lets me know she wants an outing by neighing to me when I go outside for any reason. I tried to get some help taking the cart out, but no help just yet. I am giving my mom flowers for Mother's Day, perennials that will come back for her to enjoy. She seemed to be happy about that. I am tired of being still and I am ready to get creative. LOL.

Sassy Miss Sadie's doing good. She's keeping her fly mask on, but has torn holes in it. I dumped her water trough out to clean it and found her old fly mask in it, again. While I filled the trough with fresh water, she blew bubbles in it. So silly. Heat's hitting triple degrees next week. Time to buy another misting system. Fancy & Trigger had their farrier trip this week. Great news, the farrier said Fancy's heel looks normal and you can't even tell it was wounded! We can begin riding when it is not so muddy in the corral. I am going to ride her for short periods of time before we ride out. I want to be sure both Fancy and I are ready when we ride out. And we can use this time to get ready for the horseshow this month. I want to try our first time at showmanship. ♥
