we would love your support, please
Sterl May was born and raised on a small but successful STANDARDBRED farm not far from my home. Standardbred racing is very big in this part of Ontario. She was quite good at the track, but at 4 years old she got a respiratory virus that ended her racing career. Roxanne, the lady that I eventually bought Sterl's from worked on that farm. Because racing is a business and not a hobby, Sterly had to go. Roxanne remembers the morning she was told to get Sterl May ready for the market truck. Roxanne had known and cared for her for 4 years and could not bear the thought of her going to market, so she bought her on a whim. That night after work she trailered her to a friends house and said "I bought a horse can I keep her here for now" Sterly spent the next 6 years there playing with her two new pasture pals. Yes I have seen it and I LOVE it. It is sooo good. I sit with my four and five year old nephews and watch it. :) My horse Sly is named after Roy Rogers whose real name was Leonard Sly! Rain is beautiful! My husband has a 16.3 paint gelding named Ruger. When we bought him he was so thin and looked as if he hadn't been fed the proper diet. His feet were in sad shape and poor boy just seemed so depressed. We've only had him since September 2012 and already he has come a long way...put some weight on and his feet are looking better everyday. We had his teeth floated and had our vet give him a full examination. Found out he was a little stiff in the hips so we had accupuncture done on him and brought in a chiropractor to do a couple adjustments on him. He is now a whole new horse with a new attitude and we just love him to pieces. He gets along well with my mare Mazy as they have become best friends. (even though he is the lower one on the totem pole)

Happy Sunday!
Sorry it's been a week since I blogged, but I just started a new job and have been super busy. I hope the ice and snow that we have here in Northern Illinois hasn't affected you and Rain too much. I go out and see Luna every day, but I haven't ridden in weeks because it's been too icy.

Thanks for your support of Rocky's HOTD. It has been impossible for me to blog & vote this week since both my daughter has been moving into her apartment and we've been packing & cleaning all week, plus Comet is moving tomorrow to the new stable and I packed all his stuff into the trailer today! So, needless to say, I'm so tired out. Happy Saturday!
I just discovered that they put a riding helmet as one of the gifts you can redeem for Horse Channel points! I was going to buy a new one soon, because my current one is banged up, but now I won't have to because I've almost got enough points to redeem for it. I really want that helmet.

Happy Friday!
I spent the big blizzard vacationing in Orlando, swimming in the hotel pool (yeah, I know, I'm a brat LOL)! I didn't do anything "horsey" on vacation, but the theme parks were fun, and I got to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, because I'm a big Harry Potter nerd. My kids even talked me into riding a big scary loopy roller coaster...yikes!
