one year ago we lost our dear HC friend, joanna wicke. in her honor, please visit pixie dust and brisco on page 140827. though she was unable to walk and breathe on her own, she blogged and voted daily by using a straw on her computer that her dad adapted for her. amazing! enjoy a ride or time spent with your horse today in her memory. Rick spent some time with the girls Wednesday evening. He and Sadie butted heads, as usual. Both are hard headed. Star just loves him. I was leading her back into the corral. Rick said something to Sadie, and Star stopped and wouldn't move until he came over to her. He walked her into the corral. I think she'd go anywhere with him. When I got home from work around midnight Tuesday night, it was so hot. Miserable. I took the hose down to the corral and splashed the girls. Hoping it rains soon and cools us down....My hours are changing at work, so I may not be able to be on everyday. Will be on as much as I can. Hugs and a vote. I drove by Mark's house, Monday, to check on his horse and mule. Both were standing in the corral. I don't know how a horse can handle the heat. I don't always use the mister. On windy days, the mist blows away. I do try to let them out of the corral as much as possible. I don't like having them confined in the sun. They don't use their shade much. Another hot day. The sun is so strong. When I left for work around 1:20 pm, I noticed one of Mark's horses was laying down. I tried to call him to see if she was okay. No answer. Mark's been out here for 6 1/2 years and has never put a shade up. He hasn't had the horses hooves trimmed in years, either. Don't understand why he hasn't. I called Austin and told him to let Sadie and Star out of the corral, so they could go stand under the trees for shade. I have the 8' x 12' shade in their corral, but the shade under the trees is cooler. They mutilated a bale of hay. I need to start putting the hay outside of the fence, so they can't reach it.
