Hey Dolly, sounds like you had a fantastic trail ride. No FAIR :~) and congrats on your win in the barrels!!! Sounds like Dolly is one super mule! I BELIEVE.....If there is nothing new under the sun, our only hope must be above it. Congrats to Kingston on HOTD!! **And please go to Gator's page (#236219) and welcome my friend and neighbor Alissa to HC!!** HELLO!!! Saturday: went on a short ride with Andrea and Twist. Then gave Kayla a lesson with the English saddle. She fits it really good and her and Sweet Pea look great together. Then I went over to Sharon and got her to pull Sweet Pea's shoe because the one nail came out. Sunday: I went with Andrea and Twist again, from 1-4! It was really fun, but I was ready to get home. We went on the local trails, and then my grandparent's woods, which is really great. On the way home, we stopped at the creek to water the horses 'cause it was really hot out. Sunday evening: We were at our grandparent's house and my little cousin who lives there also, wanted me to train her two minis to do some tricks. Well, I didn't succeed (minis have tough skin :~) but I told her how to. Then I went in their barn, and I was trying to get the one buggy horse to come to me. I sat in front of her stall, just holding out my hand and talking real gently with whatever I could come up with. She wanted to bad to come to me, but she was too scared and distrustful. I think I sat there about 15 mins, and she wouldn't sniff my hand. Then I went to the other 3, and they had to get used to me, then they just leaned against my hand like "oooh, that feels soooo good. Please keep on.....". I love when I can do that. Today: The first riding lesson just ended and they are just pulling out the drive (I had typed the earlier stuff before they came). It was SOOOO much fun!! I had both of them learn to brush, tack up (well, they couldn't handle the saddle and bridle yet-they just watched me and I explained it). Then I had Kara (11) mount up first and I led her around. They weren't confident enough to be on their own with just the lunge. Then it was Felicia's (9) turn. They both had a ton of fun, and thanked me profusely. I was just so happy that it went good. Sweet Pea was a star. Then I showed them how Sweetie and Flicka do tricks. I gave them an educational game to borrow, a magazine (Young Rider), and two posters to keep. I just can't wait till the next time!! Hugs & Prayers, Andrea and the herdCome visit me, Sweet Pea & Flicka & Acorn (me riding Flicka!!).

Voted :~) Did any one honor their dad with a father's day ride? My husband had to work, so Sunday evening Cowboy & I took a ride through the woods & around the neighborhood. On the way home our neighbor was having a party so Cowboy and I rode home & attached the buddy seat to Fancy's saddle and back we went to ride children at the party. There was lots of giggling and squealing going on. Cowboy asked the girls which horse they liked best and the answer was Fancy. Cowboy told them that was because they had not ridden his horse. We returned home & worked on riding both horses around the house and outbuilding in different directions to keep them tuned into the fact that they will be leaving one another on occasions. That was a good lesson. Cowboy has tapped into a hidden talent in Trigger. He had Trigger running beside him and halt, just like in the shows. This little horse has some training under his belt. I sure am pleased with Trigger so far. And Little Cowboy is very happy with his little old horsey. FANCY'S PERCEPTIONS, Cowboy Definitions: 1. Brand Artist - A rustler who alters brands with a running iron. 2. Brash - Brittle. 3. Breachy - A term applied to unruly oxen. 4. Bread Jerker - Adam's apple. 5. Brick in One’s Hat - To be drunk. That old man’s got one heck of a brick in his hat. 6. Brisk Up - To come up with life and speed, take an erect or bold attitude. 7. Broke in Two - A horse bucking. 8. Bronc Buster - A cowboy who could tame wild horses. Contrary to popular thinking, not all cowboys could ride just any horse, though most could ride any broken mount. But the bronc buster, also called a "bonc peeler" and a "bronc breaker," was a breed apart. These men, with a special type of "horse sense" earned not only the esteem of the other cowboys, but usually better wages. 9. Broken Wind - A lung infection in horses. 10. Broomtail - A long, bushy-tailed range mare, usually unbroken. Also called a "broomie."
