How We Met

Cisco is a wild yearling mustang that I am training through the Teens and Oregon Mustangs program.

This summer I have had a chance to participate in a great program through the Mustang Heritage Foundation and FitzGerald farms called the Teens and Oregon Mustangs Youth and Yearling Challenge. In this program 35 kids between the ages of 10 and 18 are selected through an application process. Each of these 35 kids are given a randomly selected wild yearling mustang to train for 98 days at the end of the 98 days there is a competition where the mustangs are shown in in-hand trail, showmanship, and body conditioning. After the competition there is a live auction where the mustangs are sold. This year the competition is on August 25th at the Yamhill County fairgrounds in McMinnville OR. My name is Sarah Watson and this summer I have the opportunity to train this incredible yearling gelding through the Teens and Oregon Mustangs program. I have decided to call him Cisco. I went to pick Cisco up on May 21, 2012 and he was WILD I couldn't get anywhere near him, now I have until August 25, 2012 (only 96 days) to gentle him, train him to be a horse that someone would love to own, and f...ind him the loving home he deserves. This will be my third year competing in the Teens and Oregon Mustangs program and I can't wait for a summer filled with hard work, lessons learned, and the once in a life time chance to fall in love with a horse like Cisco.
