How We Met
My family has been thinking about getting another horse so I decided to look on the computer to see if there was any horses for sell in our area. A website came up with Ransom and we saw/read the description of him. He was everything we needed/wanted for our next horse. So on May 26th we went to go see him. I test rode him and we seemed to click. On May 27th Ransom moved to our home and is currently getting settled in. I've always dreamed of having a herd of horses and now it is actually (and very slowly) happening.
I'll be taking and putting more pictures up of Ransom this week..

It snowed all day yesterday so I wasn't able to do anything with the horses. Today a lot of schools were cancelled because of all the snow. I rode Misty and ponied Sierra, they were both great. Hopefully I can ride Dakota or Cherokee tommorow. Left a vote, hope you have a wonderful weekend. Sorry for this message, but I will be scarce on HC, leaving silent votes until next week when I know about my mother’s condition better. She has my older sister watching her but again she has been sent to the emergency room again after being told she was fine. Hi Kelsey and herd
Wow, this week just flew by. We had a bit of OT, that will help. After next week, I told David it will be bread and water, actually, I told him I was going to buy a box of KD just so he could get used to it, 'cause I figure we will be eating lots of that. His comment was don't bother, I can honestly say I have never bought it, I'm sure we won't starve. Charlie managed yet another injury this week, playing too hard, he cut his leg, on the side of his cannon bone, and he likely took a bad step and twisted his ankle, he has a bit of swelling. Dr. Cook suggested a sweat wrap, and call in the morning with an update. He is soooo busy right now with babies being born. Hi Ransom, here's a vote for ya. Had a cold and windy day today. But went down to my trainers and gave her what for! Then had a nice lesson and ride on my mare, Paige is really awesome. I can't wait, she comes home in 2 weeks. Got home late in the afternoon, so didn't get to work out Indy at all today. I am so happy to be able to blog and vote! Saturday I got my job list caught up and the brace is helping with the swelling, pain, & numbness. I have missed interacting with you all. I will blog and vote often as I can depending on my physical situation.
Saturday afternoon we went to the farm to take pics of my brothers and their friend as they rode out. I rode Buttercup in the field, well, my brother lead me on her. When he got her she did not like anyone. Now, she knows who he is and she only wants to listen to him! I could not ride her without him leading her. I did not want to get into a tussle with her either because my wrist are weak. I did enjoy the short ride in the field though!!!
Fancy's wound continues to improve. I was afraid to let her get her kicks out, but I let her out for a while Friday. She ran! Bucked, kicked, & ran more! There was NO limping, no swelling, no bleeding. I did put some bell boots on her before I let her out. Does any one know if it is ok to allow her to wear bell boots all day or night? I took them off when I put her back in the stall. The bell boots covers that wound so I think they will help if I leave her out. I don't know anything about bell boots because I have never used them.
If you saw our last video, don't worry, Fancy was not in any danger. Fancy has been goin up them stairs since she was 10 months old. When we go there more often she walks up them better than I do. They are in the park and there is grass on both sides. I never let her walk down. I think the pool noodle getting under her leg made her feel funny because the first time she was unsure. After I

Hello!
So bad news first: Over the last couple of day , we have gotten like 8" of snow. Will spring ever come???
Good news: I may be able to move Skye a lot closer to me, and I may have a job too! So if I can move her, she would be about 10 miles from me and with in an easy ride of a large arena and some great trails. As to the job, part to full time working as a riding instructor. When Austin got home from school Monday, I asked how his day went. He replied somber. Said he wouldn't be needing the extra lunch he took to school everyday. His friend, Eric, who he shared with, committed suicide last Monday during spring break. I didn't know Eric, but felt I did through Austin. We're both having a hard time dealing with it. Austin more than me, of course. He said Eric was talented, funny and had a lot of potential. Heartbreaking. Saying a prayer for his family and all who've been hurt by this. Leaving a hug and a vote. Good morning!!!
I hope everyone had a great weekend. Not a lot happened here over the weekend. I got a my hair permed on Friday night. It is so much easier to do something with now!!!! I also filled in for a friend of mine that is a Sunday school teacher. This week is going to be pretty busy. I am really looking forward to this coming weekend, because I get to ride Skye for a couple of days!!!! Plus, do some baking and scrapbooking. I hope the weather warms up some. Right now, it is pretty cold and windy. Thank you to everyone for all of the great info on horse boots. I think I am going to go with Professional Choice. It is nice and sunny today but only 15*. Earlier this morning I rode Misty and ponied Sierra for about an hour. Sierra was a bit fiesty at first but Misty was very patient with her and eventually she settled down. I am hoping to get a ride on Cherokee later.

Sadie's doing good. Scruffy keeps her company, whether she wants him to or not. Since he's the only dog, and she's the only horse, he's bonded with her. He likes to sleep on her hay close to the corral. I don't think the feelings are mutual. He seems to get on her nerves when he barks for her to chase him. Busy night at work. Love and a tired vote. Omg i am so sorry i havent been on in like 5 days i was just so darn busy with talent show rehersals,homework,ect. I missed being on HC i hate being busy!!I will make up those votes i missed out on and respond to the blogs yall left me!!

i thought i might give one of the ponies a bath tonight but michael, my son, called and wants to "hang out". i had a nice ride on sing today. i also had my bone density scan done. looking forward to the results. i have alot of joint pain and pops and cracks when i move. praying the doc doesn't tell me i shouldn't be riding.
i had 2 good moments at work this past week. one patient told me, "you're the coolest nurse i've had here" and another patient wanted to sit with me in the cafeteria when i wasn't even working on his unit. (i'd worked with him on the week end). makes me feel like i'm helping some.
peek has a bacterial infection in her lungs and started her antibiotics today. i mix the powder with applesauce and squirt it in her mouth with a wormer tube. she took it really nicely.Come visit me, Sing & Herd.

We had a beautiful sunny day yesterday so Ethan and I took Cherokee and Dakota for a ride. All the slush has melted of the road so we galloped a lot. Cherokee is a lot of fun to ride, he loves to run! I'm glad we got to ride yesterday because today it is raining:( Have a great weekend! Hi Ransom, here's a vote for ya. So we're in the summer of 1999 and H.T. got better in june, but then by mid july he was moving funky behind. I had my vet out, he suggested pulling blood for EPM, since severl horses in our area were on the meds for it. Blood work came back positive, to really rule out if he needed the expensive meds, I got him admitted to Mid_Atlantic Equine Hospital for a full work-up. And one vet said hocks, other vet said let's run the spinal tap just to be sure. I watch the entire procedure of the spinal tap. He was heavly sedated. Very interesting. We then went with some hock x-rays and came up with a little goings on in the left hock. Decided to do hock injections as we were there and he was still under. Results came back from the double viles of spinal fluid as negative in the spinal cord. Good news. Withing 7 days he was totally sounds and off to the Palomino show where we kicked some butt and won it all! Happy ending on that one!
Didn't get down to Paige today. Truck was in shop, it was the starter! Only it wasn't bad, it was the four bolts that hold it in place had been worked lose and it rotated and caused the problem. Bob my regular mechanci and I are both wondering how 4 bolts all come that lose at once. We have our suspusions on how!
Got to the dentist and got my tempory crown glued back on and things are going in the right direction again.
