How We Met

I saw her last Aug 2011 at our Palomino Show and fell in love with her. Asked if she was for sale, she wasn't.
But came up for sale this springtime, I found her on the internet at a trainer's barn that I know and loved how she progressed in Western Pleasure. I just purchased her on May 29th 2012

Hi & a vote,
The vet had me take Rocky's temperature yesterday and it was normal 100.3
He ate his grain when he came in for the afternoon, but I do worry about that Lymph Node. The vet is going to check it again when he comes back on June 1. If anything changes in the meantime, he said Rocky might need course of antibiotics.

Come visit me, Cowboy, Rocky (the blue-eyed wonder horse) & Comet (has new home).

Oh wow, so her rep is sliding downhill. That's too bad, she could've been good with a bit more effort and integrity. Live and learn, huh?
Glad you have a couple nice days ahead. Sure hope the kids can get out for some pasture time.
Yesterday was pretty sucky. The lawn mower started making weird noises, so I have to find a repair shop and take it in. And at a time when I'm cutting grass almost every day I'm off. Hooked up the pool pump and it's spitting water in every direction, so that probably needs replacing ($$$). The car needs brakes and a drive belt. If stuff keeps breaking at this rate, I'm not going to be able to put new tires on the horse trailer for at least another year, which breaks my heart, I've only waited 4 years already to haul anywhere. Rode Allie again. She consented to stay at a walk pretty good, but her right spin fell apart into more of a traveling spiral, and she was cocked for a spook the whole time because the wind picked up a little. Oi! Got so much to do, may not be able to ride again until next week or the next. I'm just overwhelned and venting, can you tell?

Come visit me, BJ and his mom Gracie & Allie.

Yep, payback is great. No riding today, Scott had errands to do and said the traffic was too bad in the afternoon. Will be seeing 100 degree temps by Friday.

Hi & a vote,
I got a call from my friend that Rocky didn't eat morning grain, but is grazing and seemed ok otherwise. Going to take temp and report to the vet this evening. The lump under his chin seemed more firm last night than the day before. Yikes, it's always something! So, maybe something is brewing with him, but time will tell and have to keep a close eye.

Come visit me, Cowboy, Rocky (the blue-eyed wonder horse) & Comet (has new home).

Wow, how nice of the Ford place to pretend it was still under warrenty. Rare that a company acts with integrity any more.
Glad you came out smelling like a rose after the physical. And congrats on dropping those 7 lbs! So hard to do. Now for the knee to get with the program and you'll be set.
I finally got to ride Allie yesterday, yay! She's had at least 2 weeks off (feels more like 2 months) because I've been so busy. All she wanted to do was go, so we did tight circles, forehand turns, and spins everytime she broke out of a walk. Got tons of practice at those things, lol. She finally dropped her head and stayed at a walk, even though it was the world's fastest walk. She's gradually getting lighter in the bosal, and pretty good at our maneuvers. It was great to be back on her again.

Hi & a vote,
Glad you got your truck back. And success on the diet you are trying, which I have never heard of before. Hope your knee injection goes as well as mine did, I am happy!
Yes, Rocky got a nice kneading massage after his vaccines injected. I don't think I get that royal treatment! Probably someone would sue their doc as "inappropriate". ha
Going riding this evening with my friend. All horses here good so far from first set of injections. I am a bit worried about Rocky's lump and will be watching closely. Hope to go down by time vet is out next and he'll check it again.
Vet told my friend to try the Back on Track for her horse on/off lameness may be a tendon or ligament chronic issue. Do you have any experience with those? My daughter said two horses at the barn she is are using after diagnosis at Univ. of Al. One horse healing great. Vet said to us that they are designed to increase blood supply and provide support.

Yep, all the rain not only makes the grass grow, it keeps you from being able to cut it. Challenging.
Congrats on a successful show. You racked up some good points for Paige. 2nds and 3rds out of that many horses is really an accomplishment!
Hope the knee appointment goes well.
Nuts to Beast having to go in the shop. You did pick a nice alternate ride. Is Beast home again?
Not much here. Been working alot, and the rest of the month, Madison and I have appointments and classes of one type or another every day I'm off except one. We also have a modest chance of rain every day over the next week, been averaging a 10th of an inch every other day. Hoping to squeeze a little riding in here and there for my sanity.

Come visit me, BJ and his mom Gracie & Allie.

Rocky had his vet appointment this morning and got vaccines (with massage of each one he liked) and will get the rest of the vaccines June 1. They split it up to help avoid reactions. Next visit his teeth will get floated too. The vet noticed a swollen lymph node under his jaw, which we'll have to watch and he'll check it again next visit.

Hi & a vote,
Loved reading your report of the show. It sure was a wet one, though! But you and Paige did great, you can be proud! I do not miss "show laundry" when my daughter was showing! haha
Rocky will have the vet for vaccines tomorrow morning. Check teeth, etc. So, I'll be over at the barn early instead of work, yeah!
Glad to hear the two horses are recovering, that is good news.
I hoped to ride yesterday, but didn't feel like going alone and my friend was busy with a family celebration. So, I took Blue for a walk by the river Sunday evening instead. Blue will be happy to go to the barn tomorrow morning and run with Hailey pal.

Did you travel home yesterday? Hope all went well and things at home were in shape.
We had TS rumbling around all afternoon yesterday (another tenth of an inch), so that kept me from any horsey activities. And it's work all day today and tomorrow, so I probably won't be on HC tomorrow. Hope your week gets off to a good start.

Congrats again on your wins! Happy you sold your mower. I hope Paige's foot will be OK. She will enjoy a little R&R.

I have been getting some rides in finally! I am riding Lucky and my husband is riding Gypsy. We have had four rides this week! We have been riding in a bosal. I think they both rather the bosal than the bit. I know Lucky is being so good. We go to pick up Ace on Wednesday. We are not sure what to expect. He seems to be a little more high strung than when we had him. He was always pretty laid back. Of course we didn't work him everyday like the trainer. We are hoping he settles in once he is home with the herd. Will keep you all posted. Have a great week.

Rode Rocky last night when it was a nice evening. He was still shedding a layer. Rode with my friend and her mare. Bugs were starting to come out, which the mare doesn't like, so Rocky led the way on the trail and the mare had to follow (insulting to her)! haha

Hope you got to the show grounds okay. Hauling a horse trailer through the rain doesn't sound like fun.
So glad fence horse is gonna be okay. Sounds like another few inches would've been a different story. Sure hope colic horse will be okay. Nerve wracking!
Yeah, hope Beast doesn't have any dents from the hail.
We only got one little downpour yesterday afternoon (1/10 of an inch), so I was able to get a lot of grass cut (the dandelions are off the chain!) and also a short ride on Gracie. I rode her out in the pasture, which apparently, I don't do nearly enough, because she didn't listen as well as she does in the ring. Gonna have to practice that more often with her. I've found that schooling in the pasture really sharpens them up in the riding ring. Anyway, she got yard time afterward for a treat.
It's back to work all day today, but hope you have a great friday.

Oh my! That's awful about the severe weather you got and the one horse being hurt and another being sick! Glad you are ok, even if internet out. Can't believe the storm damages nearby to your area!
Hoping the show will go well for you. The weather here is looking rainy for the weekend. I always hated horse shows when it was raining and taking my daughter years back!
Good luck and pray for no more severe weather!
Poor Honey, I'm sure she was so scared!! I know how our Angel Shiva used to get beside herself. I had a dream of her the other night that she came home and was alive. It was a nice dream, probably triggered as a FB memory with a pic of her had come up.

Finally got some measurable rain yesterday, an inch and a quarter. Of course, the weathermen are screaming "flash floods", and there's been trouble up in the mountains, but here, the ground is soaking it up like a sponge.

Well I went to get in the car Monday and it wouldn't unlock from the drivers door. Had to crawl over the stick shift from the other side. Stopped by the garage and Vince got it so I could open it from the inside. Which would have worked except we had thunderstorm and rain. Car spent the day in the shop. took him 3 hours to fix it. He had to take it completely apart. It needs a new part that he didn't have. However, I use the key and not the remote to get in and out. The remote doesn't work on the drivers door. So I use the key the alarm goes off. Then I have to hit the lock key. O well I will live with it till the part comes in. Sad part the car body is slowly falling apart. The motor is good I only have 144,000 miles on it. Looks like I have to start thinking of getting another car. I know its old (2006) but with low mileage I really wish it would last longer. But when the parts are so old and its rusting away. If I have to keep putting money into it, I guess I don't have a choice. Just like not having a car payment. O well such is life. I need a car so no choice. Vicki & Big Jax

Hope Paige is nearly back to her old self soon. You do not need the extra worrying.
Raining out now, so I have some free minutes, before I go out and lock in chicken, horses, and ducks and geese for the night. Been selling some of the guinea hens off, and also most of the 2 batches of chicks I hatched. Hopefully, the geese and duck eggs will hatch tomorrow and Wednesday. Have chicken and quail eggs all due by Friday. Ricestonian Swap is the 26th, so I might get to go. Weather here has been nice, need rain so I did not mind having to get inside after raking up more space to plant trees, my hands feel like sandpaper. So much to get done get. I think about logging on but it is usually around 10 or near 11 when I get done with the things I have to do on the computer, and I can barely stay awake. Hope everyone is well, since there are no blogs for my horses

So glad Paige is sound on her leg again and hope the swelling continues to go down.
Wow, the rain up there! We haven't had any in all of May so far. We have a decent chance of seeing some this week.
Had a great time at my parent's. We threw Mom a tea party Saturday, which she enjoyed, and got to spend time with my sister, my niece, and her daughter and step daughter. My son took care of the critters for me and everybody was good when I got home, just going through a lot of water because it's been mid 90s all weekend. Oi!

Poor Paige. I hope now that the back shoes are on she will be okay. I like halter and showmanship too. I'm glad Mo is okay. Fox are nasty little creatures. They will clean out the chickens. Cats are not safe either. Gun is the only answer. I know they need to eat, but that is what wildlife is for. My son gave me an ice cream maker for Mother's Day. Making strawberry ice cream right now. It does gelato and sorbet too. My doctor is not going to be happy. I'm sure my cholesterol is going to go up. Vicki & Big Jax

Yeah, hoping BJ feels some better. Poor boy, I really wish this wasn't an issue for him. He was turning into such a good horse, not just in the riding ring, but in the cattle pen, and had pretty good endurance out on the trails too. And now I can't do anything but short slow rides on him.
I got to ride Allie yesterday out in the pasture. All we did was walk since all she wanted to do was go. She got LOTS of practice circling, lol. Had some afternoon TS roll around, but none came over us.

Glad you sold the mower. Sorry that Paige is off again. Stupid horses. For some reason, Cisco took a dislike to Jazz last night, ran her for nearly 20 minutes till I got them separated. Hi & a vote,
We got a used riding mower last year and sold the one the engine was blown on too. Hope you sell you old one.
Last night Blue was limping and I had given him a bath after his mud mess the other day, but some really stubborn mud and some pieces of hay inbedded in his pawpad had to be cleaned out from his fur and I put dog foot lotion on last night and this morning. Last night, he didn't really want me messing with it, this morning he laid down when he saw me bring the lotion and stuck his foot out! Relief in sight (I hope I got it all now). He was walking and running this morning. He has such big furry feet that he'll get snow or mud or burrs stuck in in his feet sometimes, but I missed some this time! I think the few pieces of hay in it were sticking him.
Probably no more horse fun until the weekend, well depending on the weather too.

A Vote for You!!
Hope this cooling off weather pattern does not last long. We got up into the high 60's some place said 71. Getting lots done outside, inside, not so much. Tracking in mud and old hay.
Raining today, so can not work on fencing. We needed the rain. Fields are just starting to beable to get into them for plowing. Mike and I have been working on cleaning up the garden, taking down divider fence, and pulling old weeds/plants for burning. Put fence back up to keep chickens out. Have to take it down each fall, or snow buries it in the mud, and then it is nearly impossible to clean up.
Horses need brushing so bad, and all it seems we are doing is working on fences. Mikey's calves kept getting out, so we have his fences nearly done. One of the calves hurt her back leg, I think got stuck in the feeder. So twice a day either rubbing it with DMSO or shots.
Slowly I am selling little chicks, and a few guineas. One more batch of baby bunnies to sell, but not old enough yet. Next week I hope the eggs in the incubators should start hatching. Sort of worried, because my microwave was "arching" and not sure if it caused the incubators to spike higher in temps.

Come visit me, Mistic, Willow & Whisper.
