How We Met

I saw her last Aug 2011 at our Palomino Show and fell in love with her. Asked if she was for sale, she wasn't.
But came up for sale this springtime, I found her on the internet at a trainer's barn that I know and loved how she progressed in Western Pleasure. I just purchased her on May 29th 2012

Glad Kevin is home and feeling so much better. Was going to ride today, went out to get Lilly and it started to rain. Have rain in the forecast the next 2 days. When I caught Jazz up to turn her out, noticed she had a lot of bot eggs (they weren't there yesterday), so got them all off and will ck the others tomorrow.

Come visit me, Mystic, Cisco, Angel Meg, Bo (RIP) and Jazz THANKS FOR HOTM! & Angel Nugget.

Hopefully, you get your oil change deal without having to beg. Kevin health seems on the "good to go", wish Mikeys was doing that. Didn't even have time to make comments, got the votes in and thats all.
Yesterday, Mikey called about 6:30, and need to go in to the hospital, because he thought/thinks his kidney is shutting down, and he was bleeding again. Mike drove him 4 1/2 hrs to Minneapolis to UN of Fairview, They are keeping him. Think that he might have a blood clot why his foot was so swollen up. Gave him blood, his count was down to 5 something, 7 is the cut off for going in. So he was very low on blood. Have not heard much today, usually he calls after it gets dark out.
Today, the car did not leave the yard. Except to get gas for the tractor so we could clean out the last feeder. Nice outside, rain tomorrow, but not going to complain, because we did have at least 4 nice days in a row.

Come visit me, Mistic, Willow & Whisper.

Hi & a vote,
I worked a lot on that right rear heel last night on Rocky. I've got almost all of it off, but did make one tiny spot bleed, which I guess I was a little too aggressive on. So, have Microtek sprayed the ones already healed (as preventative) and put the Microtek gel on the one that bled a little. Good news is, most of the skin is nice and healed, where I got all the dead material off finally. Then it usually heals quickly the rest of the way with continuing to spray the MicroTek daily.

So glad Kevin is home and doing well. Sure hope he's fixed up for good now and can get back to life. Think he'll stay off the alcohol now that his surgery is over? It would be great if he did.
Hope your ears do okay after being out in the wind. Haha, did Honey have "inside out" ear?
Took the truck in but they didn't get to it, so what with work and the weekend, I won't get it back till tuesday. I wanted to go visit it, take a bottle of cetaine booster as a gift. Madison just rolled her eyes, lol.
Had a nice ride on Gracie yesterday. She has the sweetest little lope (I think I've said that before, lol). Her trot is a bit rough, but her lope, wow. It was a beautiful golden afternoon and I just couldn't resist a ride.

Hi Marion, Indy & Paige! 71 during the day is actually pretty nice. I don't know about that 38 at night though haha. Honey looked quite proud of herself for getting on that big wood pile. She seems like she loves exploring :) I was able to get out and see Koot after work yesterday. I took him out for a bareback ride, then gave him carrots and apples once we got back. I can definitely tell the time change is fast approaching! It was almost dark by 630pm! That means that pretty soon I'll only be able to see him during the weekends. Voted. XOXO Danya and Koot

Hi & a vote,
Blue would probably knock down the woodpile!! Rocky's scratches continue to improve. Switched back to using Microtek spray from the Vetericyn Plus that I used up now. Tonight the horses will get the tick topical also since tick season is here. I HATE those nasty ticks!

That's nice that they delivered cured wood to you. Honey was so cute on top of the wood pile. She just had to climb and explore.
Hope Kevin's surgery went okay. Kinda sounds like they kept him overnight if you never saw the car come back. Someone should have stayed with him last night anyway. Keep us posted.
Yes, Allie usually comes to me when I go out. Of course, having a peppermint always helps, lol. And because I feed a little snack at the barn while I'm brushing and saddling, usually whoever I'm working alot comes to me when I go out, though she's the only one who trots or lopes up.
I'm supposed to get the truck to the shop today. Part of the "bullet proofing" makes the check engine light come on permanently, so he's going to run a program that'll make it go off as well as increase my fuel milage a little. And the "brake fluid low" sensor keeps getting stuck so he's gonna deal with that as well. I drove it up the interstate to work yesterday and parked it in the oversize lot with the other big boys. It runs so good and sounds so good, I'm just tickled. A diesel engine cranking and running has become one of my favorite sounds. I bet Beast sounds good too, all that power.
Well, stay warm. Hope it's another beautiful day and you get time to ride.

Come visit me, Allie & BJ and his mom Gracie.

Hi Marion, Indy & Paige! I'm ready for some Fall/Winter weather for sure. It's been in the 80s all week. We only had about one week where it felt like Fall so far and it was great! I really enjoyed it. The trail rides on the weekend have been pretty hot lately and it will probably be hot this weekend too even going in the morning. I'm sure Paige enjoyed her day off :) I hope it is warmer today for you and you were able to ride without freezing your booty off lol. Voted. XOXO Danya and Koot

Oh, I sure hope the surgery works for Kevin. Pain is never fun, and back pain is one of the worst. Everyone was good for the farrier today, till the horses in the pasture across the road starting running and bucking. We took a short break till they moved out of sight. Jazz and Lilly both got teeth done, neither needed sedative. Vet was late, texted her to see if she was held up, she called me back and said appt. was tomorrow. Ck'd her text, nope today at 11. No problem, did put on Sunset's breakaway halter so she'll be easier to catch tomorrow.

Your weather should improve soon, sending you sun shine and super nice temps.
What a nice day yesterday. Cleaned out fish tanks and rocks and fish castles for the gold fish, moved a table that I use for flowers and my baby tomatoes plants into the basement. Cleaned out the leaves from outside pond and finally found all the gold fish, but just incase I did not remember my count, left the water in. I will empty it later for my young or baby trees. Gathered flower seeds for next yr. some I can replant now, but alot are annuals, so need to dry and save them. Went out a fed deer corn and apples, well the peelings and cores, so peaceful out there. Of course, got one muddy foot, and the other just soaked. Started raking up leaves for the chicken coops, I just store them in feed bags. Some of them I put around the young trees, but can not use them until it freezes hard, other wise, mice and rodents will decide to use them leaves for a winter home.
Calling for colder temps and perhaps snow for next week, so today, while Mike is gone....taking Mikey in for his dr. appointment in Eau Claire, I plan on getting the last of the tomatoes in....not sure where to put them. Made 7 qts of chili tomatoes yesterday. His appointment went good yesterday at the VA. Long day, he left at 7 and did not get home until 6.

Come visit me, Mistic, Willow & Whisper.

That's funny you had so many horse grooming products tucked away. I think alot of us do, once we go through stuff.
Glad you had a beautiful day to get out. Is the wood already drying out? It was beautiful here too, got up to about 67 and very clear. It warms a bit over the next few days to 75 they say.
Sure hope Kevin's surgery goes well today. I'll be thinking about him. Will it be an overnight stay for him?
Yes, those little things do add up. I told Cheryl I watched some Buck Brannaman videos on YouTube the other day and he never seems to do alot with a horse, just a step here, a slight give there. But before you know it, the horse is able to do alot. And he's so soft and easy with a horse, he's fun to watch.
Rode Allie out in the pasture again yesterday. I was going to do some trotting but the herd was grazing in the back where the ground is kind of rutted and there are huge fire ant hills to avoid, so we just did more walking. We practiced straight lines and a little sidepassing, so it was another good ride. I also got another round bale to add to the collection for winter. Just need one or 2 more and we should be good. Hay is alot easier to find this year than last, thank goodness.

Come visit me, Allie & BJ and his mom Gracie.

So glad you had a great ride on Paige. Sounds like she was on her A game. And glad you're feeling better.
How's Kevin? When is his surgery supposed to be?
I rode Allie out in the pasture yesterday. It was pretty windy, so I wasn't sure how she would do because she hates wind, but she did pretty good. We're still just walking around, circling her buddies, stopping out away from them, doing a few hindquarter yields, taking it easy. And she was pretty relaxed the whole time, so I was happy. That's huge for her.

I had meant to ask you what it was, that you are not drinking enough water.
It sounds like the weather you are having cold and windy, then turn beautiful sunny, and Mother Nature, looks puzzled, when you ask about what kind of crap she is giving us. It was nice today, did not get too warm, unless, I was pulling tomatoe vines and harvesting more hidden tomatoes. Make 8 pints of green tomatoe relish, and blanched about 4-5 qts of whole tomatoes, but did not cann them yet.
Started bringing rabbit cages into the basement so the 3 bunnies can have a easier life, and then one for the guinea pig, Chewy. I fit the cages over cut in half 55 gallon barrels, so the dropping will be collected, sort of composting inside. Usually, I have to empty them about 3-4 times in the winter. Filled fish tank and added rocks, don't think I will add the pebbles and sand this yr. it is so hard to keep clean. Now if I can find my goldfish, all the maple leaves are falling into the pond. Normally, I put a screen over the top, and it makes it much easier.

Hi Marion, Indy & Paige! I agree with you, that it is harder to remember to drink when it's colder out. Sometimes you forget you still need to be hydrated even when it's cold outside lol. On Saturday, I got to ride Koot's barn mate, Maggie. One of my friends really wanted to see Koot so I told her she could ride him this weekend and when we got there, the lady where I board said I could ride Maggie so we could ride together. We took them on the 45 minute trail and they loved it! Maggie was really easy to ride. She's a lot wider than Koot though so it felt really different, but was fun! They both had a great time being able to go out together. Voted. XOXO Danya and Koot

Chilly this AM, only 46 but warmed up to 72 this afternoon. Sunset is very good for the farrier, but HATES getting shots. We will get her trimmed first, otherwise she will be in a major snit. She really was good about getting deburred, I thought she would get really antsy after a bit, but she seemed to enjoy getting them out and didn't fuss about the comb. (I imagine they can get quite irritating, espcially around the tail head).

Thanks for the votes while I was gone. Sorry the weather was kind of damp and you didn't feel well over the weekend. It is hard to make yourself drink enough when it's cooler out. Same with the horses, huh? Dee used to suffer from mild colic every spring and fall because she wouldn't drink enough, so now I add a fair amount of salt to her feed in those seasons.
We had a great visit with my family. Got to see Kathryn and her baby daughter (3 mo) and her step daughter (7 yr). My folks are doing fairly well. Mom likes her pacemaker, says she feels stronger with it. We got home with enough daylight yesterday for me to trim Allie's feet and feed/water everybody.

Rocky's hooves are trimmed. Still treating what remains of the heel scratches. This afternoon, Rocky, Blue and I went for a ride down the road, through the dog park and around to the stable nearby. Do you know what kind of flower seeds got into the hay fields to ruin them?? I know Yellow Rocket and Mustard are bad news, but no one in their right mind would plant them as flowers. I am battling them right now too.
Guess what it rained most of the day....like it done all week.
Cool and wet, so we cleaned out the garage and shed with Dominic's help. Tristan came later and picked him up, going hunting, and I got another peek at that little Ryder
Rained all the way to Church this afternoon, (we have 4 o'clock Mass) and all the way home. All the time I was doing chores, it rained, and even the horses had enough of it, they were in the barn when I went to call them in. Needless to stay, both my jackets are soaked. Started the pellet stove last night, got down to 32-33, and kept it going all day. Feels good right now, but then I am in the same room as the stove.

Speaks alot about Paige and her training, that Kayla can ride her without a bridle.
Friday the 13, and nothing bad happened. Even drove up to pick up Buttons, 45 miles, picked up Dominic too. Buttons meowed all the way home, singing the Meox Meox song. Mike had to take my brother in law, to his dr. appointment. For once, the rain stopped for a bit, just long enough for Dominic and me to rake out some old grass and weeds and threw in flower seeds for next yr. Guinea hens all went back to their own house and pen tonight. Chickens and g. hens are all molting, so I have feathers allover the place.

Wow, sounds like your timing just barely worked out yesterday. Glad it did. So Kevin is all set for his surgery now? Hope it goes well.
That's so cool that Kayla can ride Paige so soft. A good horse that tries hard seems to work better the lighter you are with them, which makes them a joy. Then, you're both enjoying the ride.
Yeah, you're right, any horse can spin if it has to. Seems to be one of their signature evasive moves. It's just convincing them to do it when you ask for it that's the trick, right?
I rode Allie out in the pasture again yesterday and it was much less eventful than the other day. Again, just at a walk, and she's settling in to walking quite nicely. I'll have to add speed eventually, but I'm enjoying her more relaxed attitude for a while.

None of the guinea hens were in their house at dusk, I walked all the pastures near the woods incase they were there, walked about a mile each way on the road looking, even checked barns, garages, shed, and could not find the, finally I looked in back of the shop in the area what I called my barn, sure there they were all snickering and laughing about them playing "hide and seek" with me. Glad Bessy hasn't quit yet. Go Bessy!
Gosh yes, had to peel my clothes off like a banana yesterday evening and they were soaking wet. Yuck.
I rode Miss Allie out in the pasture yesterday. She was way more relaxed and we were able to ride long straight lines without trying to trot. Ironically, she also had one big spook where she jumped forward (you know how wolves like to sneak up on you, lol). Fortunately, she didn't bolt back to her buddies after she jumped. And Gracie took a dive at her. Wow, with enough motivation, that little Tacky can spin! I wound up over her shoulders, so again, I'm grateful that didn't turn into a buck or more spinning, but it was funny. And it was another hot steamy day so Allie got a shower after the ride. Everybody could've used one, they were all sweaty at supper time.
Well, hope you have a great thursday.

Oh dear, hope ole Bessy holds on to get the yard cut one more time. Mines gonna need it again too. I'm trying to let the grass seed itself, so it's a little raggedy looking but not high at all.
Boy, was it steamy yesterday! The high was 88 or better, and it felt like the humidity was just as high. But we so needed the rain, I'm not complaining. However, I hate trying to get jeans off and on when you're sticky wet.
