How We Met

I saw her last Aug 2011 at our Palomino Show and fell in love with her. Asked if she was for sale, she wasn't.
But came up for sale this springtime, I found her on the internet at a trainer's barn that I know and loved how she progressed in Western Pleasure. I just purchased her on May 29th 2012

Another cold spring day, we have winter advisory weather warning, but because it might turn to rain.
But my second batch of eggs hatched and I think I have ??? to many to count in there, and no one stands still.
Hopefully, it starts warming up. Picked up another rooster, not sure of the breed, but he was affordable. White with black tail feathers and up around his neck and head. Perhaps he is part pinto.
So now Paige is getting more work, maybe she liked when young friend was on vacation.

Come visit me, Mistic, Willow & Whisper.

Hi & a vote,
Hope Paige does well for her training sessions.
Yup, we are in that similar weather to you. We are still like 11 degrees this morning, now about 14, but supposed to be in the 40's for the weekend any early next week, so that snow will start to melt off faster and then we will get the Mud. I know we won't escape it.

Come visit me, Rocky (the blue-eyed wonder horse), Comet (has new home) & Cowboy (Thanks for HOTD 1/19/2017!).

If the boss is happy, everything is good, lol. Glad JW is doing a good job for you.
It's so sad to see when the driving force dies and family takes over and changes things and it goes downhill. You see that a lot in small businesses too.
I had a good day yesterday. Fired up the lawnmower for the first time this season, more to cut weeds than any grass. I'm always tickled when it starts after sitting all winter.
I went out to ride Allie and when I asked for a lope on the lunge line, she squealed, ducked her head, and took off. Uh-oh, that's not a good sign, lol. So she got a ton of groundwork and I didn't have much time left to ride. Apparently, she's in a strong spring time heat, and boy, was she chatty! Grunts, nickers, squeals, neighs. Kinda funny.
Well, hope you have a great thur and a good day with Paige.

Come visit me, Allie & BJ and his mom Gracie.

Glad Paige is doing well. Yeah, the lady either needs to make a financial arrangement with Marissa or just quit breeding, sounds like the horses are a bit nuts (or maybe just never handled enough). Glad you got the door cleared.

Does Paige grunt in a lady type way, or is it like, an "old man grunt". :) Sending you some nicer weather, was up to 50 two days ago, but nights are down to near zero. Good for maple syrup tapping. Sun sure is bright and warming things up fast.
Second batch of chicks are hatching now, have 15 ?? if they would hold still it would be easier to count. Mikey had a good supper, last minute he said he wanted BBQ's, so made them, and also BBQ drumsticks and no one told the baby chicks, but I told all of them they were girls, and no little roosters, but even at 4-5 days old, I see some of them fighting already.

Hi & a vote,
Good to hear Paige is making some progress again! We have COLD weather in the 20's again today and very windy too, but then should be warming into the 40's by the weekend. So at least half our snow is gone. But since it's been melting more slowly, it isn't as muddy here. At least not yet.

So glad you had a good day with the horses. She got Paige grunting, huh? She's too funny with those grunts.
Yeah, don't know why people keep breeding when they can't sell the ones they have nor even train them. Meanwhile, there are good mares not being bred cause there seem to be too many horses. No wonder there are a lot of stinkers out there.
We hit the 70s yesterday and then had a bunch of thunderstorms roll through. At first, they were coming right up but going around, which was aggravating, but they finally came over and then it rained and stormed for a long time. I'm interested to see what the rain guage has in it. Was so happy to finally get a good soaking rain. They kept me from riding, but I did get Gracie's fronts trimmed.
Hope your week is going well.

Poor Paige, at least she has a loving Mom.
Super busy today and yesterday. Leaving votes when I have aminute or two. Yesterday, took Mom to see her sister in the nursing home. I think Pasty is 95, and lived in Marshfield about 90 miles from us, more like 100 from Mom. One of the closes cities that has a Farm and Fleet store. Picked up lots of small items I needed, plus potting soil and tomato seeds. Got to go to St. Vinny's, found lots of stuff bunnies for 50 cents each, just like new, so brought some for the annual Easter Egg hunt. Got home late in the afternoon.
Today, moving the first batch of chicks into a wire cage, a cleaning up the tote for the next batch, which have already started pipping out of the shell, only 3 so far, but not due until 22. Today is Mikey's birthday, so also baking a cake, making chicken....but did not tell the baby ones that, have somethings done but having supper around 5. Need 6 hands today.

Come visit me, Mistic, Willow & Whisper.

Hi Marion, Indy & Paige! Sorry I've been away! This tax season has been really crazy and having classes on top of it, makes it a whole new craziness! I hope you're doing well though :) We had hot weather the last couple weeks so I was able to get Koot out the past two weekends for rides and turnouts, but we are expecting rain today, tomorrow and Saturday so we'll see about getting him out this weekend. Hope all is well! Voted. XOXO Danya and Koot

So glad Paige got a good report on her injection sites and the prospects of moving more are opening up. Does Marissa feal even a little guilty for missing the blizzard everybody else had to put up with? Lol, I wouldn't either.
That's great that you're happy with the new farrier. This isn't the trim guy who's just helping out is it?
Hmmm, sounds like mama and baby need some training on manners before baby gets too big.
Today is grocery shopping day but I hope to sneak in a ride as well. Hope you have a great tuesday.

Glad Paige's swelling is almost gone. Let us know what the vet says about her 2 remaining lumps. And glad her heel bulb doesn't seem to be bothering her much.
That's great that you didn't get much snow with that second storm and it's melting off.
Glad the colt is being a regularly scheduled bratty colt and not sick, lol.
Yeah, makes sense that their senses aren't as able to detect predators in a lot of wind and it makes them antsy. I imagine they're using their vision more, and as everything is moving on windy days, it's constant panic. Exhausting. That might explain why Allie was so laid back yesterday. She loped around nice and quiet (for her) and even gave me some effort at stopping once, something she's never done.
Well, off to work. Have to say that though I try to make the best of it, I'm really not wanting to go in today. Ugh. Anyway, hope you have a great monday.

I will have to send some prayers for Paige that she feels better soon, why does she always have reactions, is it just one brand or ??. Has the vet tried a different one or I suppose he has checked out all that out already.
I remember years ago, there was a big recall on a certain vaccine.
Sunday starting out cold, but I heard it should warm, should have yesterday, but didn't. Babysitting, my son's dog, Barkey, who in the middle of the night decided to live up to that name, and also Chance, for my sister, who is visiting her son in Kansas, both of them are small dogs. My grandson, Dominic, was wrestling yesterday, came in 1st, and next weekend, he will go to state for championship. Just making it this far is great.

Aw, poor Paige. Hope it doesn't make her sore and heals up okay. She has a training schedule to get back to.
Hate that you got more snow, was kinda hoping it would miss you. How much more did you end up with?
I could pre drill holes, good idea. I only replaced 10 boards yesterday. Because it's too big a job to do the whole thing at once, I've been replacing the most rotten boards first here and there and it's worked so far. The horses are only regularly in the riding ring so I'm doing that in 2x6x8, but the front yard and paddock I'm using 1x6x8 and they're easier to nail through. If I ever use the paddock regularly (like for a mare and foal yard), I'll run a hot wire around it to keep them off.
I did get to ride yesterday but only a short ride and didnt get much done with Allie. The wind calmed down for a while in the early afternoon but by the time I was saddling up, the gusts were bending the trees sideways. I rode for a little bit, but neither Allie nor I could concentrate, so I cut the ride short. Will try again today.
Well, hope you have a great sunday.

Come visit me, Allie & BJ and his mom Gracie.

Yeah, it makes sense that the more Paige can move, the more her swelling will go down. Hope the weather lets you and Laura get out regularly from now on.
How's that colt doing, the one that didn't get enough antibodies?
We were supposed to get rain today but it missed us, dang it. So I took the old truck down to Lowes and got some more boards to replace the oldest ones on the wood fence around the front of the place. Between my hammering arm and my budget, I can only do a bit here and there, but so far, it's working out. Now that the sun has come out and the wind has died down a bit, I'm wanting to ride this afternoon.
Well, hope you're having a great saturday and some snow melting.

Oh, the thought of naming all those chicks...but I do write girls names on the eggs, and other side put a date. I have still air, no fan, and have to hand turn ever egg about 6 times a day. I know hens turn them a lot more, but now I am just rounding them, instead of making sure all dates or names are up.
34 baby chicks, 9 were not even developed at all, not enough roosters, and 4 did not even pip in the shell. Well, that beats my 11% rate. Grays and blacks mostly, some have little white tips on their wings.
Snowed last night again, suppose to get 5-8 inches, but it rained so only received about 3-4 of wet heavy snow, Weekend looks warmer, hope so.

Come visit me, Mistic, Willow & Whisper.

Gosh, can't believe her neck is all swollen up again. Poor baby. And I hate you have to do the banamine all over again too. Would leaving a neck sweat on help any?
Glad Indy could get to the indoor yesterday, you've done a lot of work to get those doors open already. Are you in for a warming trend any time soon? We warm up moderately, not as warm as it was in Feb.
It was beautiful yesterday and no wind (finally) so I got to ride Allie (again, finally). She was a bit stiffer than usual since it has been so long, so we just walked and trotted, kind of a refresher ride. She was sweet and good, and I really enjoyed it. And I ate some of Gracie's hair this time, lol. In fact, I had so much of her white hair on my sweatshirt that when I hugged Allie, it looked like her mane was frosted.
Well, off to work. Have a great friday.

With all the "hot air" and "BS" in Washington Dc, your snow should melt super fast, if there is a southern wind. :)
You should invest in Aleve stock you would be rich by now.
I know it is now fun shoveling, snow. A few years ago, we had 10-12 ft banks in our driveway, we measured them.
You want to know another sign of spring, woke up to baby chicks in the incubator. I worry about doing it right, so far looks like 15 of them, as soon as I shine the flashlight, they start moving around so hard to count. Most people brag they get 100%, 95% even 75%, well I brag if I get 11%. Should be 48 eggs in there, but somehow my count, (I number the eggs or sometimes give them all names....girl names) is like 52, so I sure did something wrong there. Probably, was numbering them, stopped to do something else, and forgot where I left off. But maybe I will get 52 chicks out of 48 eggs.

What, more snow forecasted? Does mother nature not realize that it's almost spring? She's been pretty crazy this year, off her prozac, as you say.
Goodness, that's a lot of work out in the cold moving snow. Yeah, too bad you couldn't get your tractor down to the indoor for that drift, would have been a lot faster. Do you have to fill the snow blower manually or does it suck up snow like a vacuum?
Not much here. Down to 21 this am, brrrr (for us). I did more groundwork with Allie yesterday, and scrubbed what seemed like 5 lbs of shedding hair off BJ. There's way way more to come off too.
Well, hope you have a great thur and can get down to see Paige today and she isn't too full of herself. (And Marissa is missing all the snow on her cruise, poor thing. She's the lucky one.)

Sorry, sorry so sorry, that you are getting our left overs ....again, we should have kept a bit a more of that snow. Are you getting all that wind too?? Winds were worst than the snow.
Mike got a kick out of that "Old Man Winter" on viagara, said must have taken a double dose.
Oh, sometimes Mother Nature gets sooooo wicket. Southern part of Wisconsin got 18-24 inches, now she could have sent all of that to the East, while we just got a few inches. Most of our snow is gone, just blew away to New York. But I feel it is so much colder with out that snow to keep the ground warm. When we get 24 inches of snow, people just put their trucks in 4-wheel drive and go out, or use their snow mobiles. What the hunters say, "Good tracking" snow.
