thanx 4 the comment! and to keep ur seat better try posting w/ no stirrups or sitting trots work really well! (make sure u do it in a comfortable saddle b/c if not it will really hurt!) and 4 jumping at first when ur just learing the #1 mistakes u do NOT want to make is hitting ur horse in the mouth(pulling/jerking on the reins over the jump) give him just enough rein to stretch his head out and don't hit the horse in the back(sit while jumping or bounce on his back- just stay up in 2-point!) if u keep doing this sooner/later ur horse will refuse b/c he knows ur going to do that and it hurts him! so even if u look stupid just don't make those mistakes!!!and keep ur back straight but sucking in ur stomach and it will keep ur back straight and ALWAYS!!! keep ur heels down! hope this helps!(sorry its so long!)

When I was learning on Bucky he would stop in front of the jumps then jump over them. I later learned to keep my toes at his girth and my heels at his hind quarters. When you get about 4 feet away from the jump squeeze with your knees twice. He's definately not too old. hope this helps.
