im so sorry to hear about your dog:( I left you a vote. Thanks so much for yours. I hope you can start to feel better soon.

Its hail here today. Uhhh. Yesterday was nice, just windy. I worked with Dancer again yesterday and shes still doing great. Hoping to get better weather so that I can ride her out a little more. I cant ride her much place else except for the round pen and the yard at my grandpas. Maybe this weekend will turn up better.

Come visit me, Caroline Noelle.

Hey again! Thanks for the vote! I left you one too!

Everyone has those days where the horse just wont do what youwant. They spook, take advantage, and refuse to go anywhere. Trust me. I know. Caroline is usually the best she can be, in a good mood, proud, with her head up high. But when shes not- shes NOT. She can definatly be a brat! But you have to see the good in them(: Sometimes, I just want to rip mine and her hair out! But I love her(:

Yesterday, me and my dad went on a last minute ride with Cocoa and Care. They did good for the most part, a couple of spooks! I cantered and galloped caroline for awhile out around our farm. She was such a good girl for that! Its raining hard here now, though. Im sitting inside for right now:(
Thanks for the vote and I left you one too! Hope your weekend was as good as mine!

Hey guys I have some exciting news, I might be getting another horse! Yesterday afternoon my mom said she saw an ad in the paper for a free horse. I didnt think much about it because I thought if it is free than it must not be trained very well. Later I got a bit curious and asked my mom to call and ask about the horse. The horse is a 28yr old part Paint, part QH, part Thoroughbred-or at least thats what my mom said, I think that she may have gotten it mixed up. His owner said the reason she was giving him away was because she was moving into town and didn't have a place to keep a horse. We were planning to go take a look at him right away but his owner said that she was at work so we are going to wait until Monday. I cant wait I am sooo excited! I really hope this works out, his owner said that he is very well trained. I have my fingers crossed! Oh well, better get going, left a vote!

Hey guys, how did your Monday go?

It finally warmed up a little, but its still windy. Yesterday I rode both Misty and Dakota, they where full of pep and lots of fun to ride. While I was riding Dakota some beef calves got out, so we chased them in, and later while I was riding Misty, the Holstein steers got out so we chased them in too, wich was a lot of fun, the horses and I get a kick out of chasing those little rascals.
I also did some ground work with Sierra.

Question of the day: If you had the chance to spend a day with a famous horseman or horsewoman of your choice, who would you choose and why?
I would probably choose Clinton Anderson, as his method seems to be very effective.

Thanks everyone for all the support for Dakota's HOTM run, keep it up!

HISTORY OF THE WELSH COB, SECTION D
A Section C is a Welsh Mountain Pony of Cob Type, and Section D is the Welsh Cob. The main difference between the two is size. The Welsh Pony of Cob Type resulted from a crossbreeding between the Welah Mountain Pony and the Welsh Cob.The Welsh Cob was probably the result of a crossbreeding between the Welsh Mountain Pony and the horses brought by the Romans to Britain. Welsh ponies have run wild on the hills, valleys and mountains of Wales for centuries;over the years the Welsh ponies developed into several different types. Farmers and shepherds who needed a fast mount that could easily traverse the the rough terrain favouredthe larger ponies, the smaller ponies were used extensively in the coalmines in the 19yh and 20th centuries. In the aftermath of the industrial revolution, th Welsh Cob was a popular form of transport for those who had to travel for business. From there a whole industry emerged, with trotting races a popular method of selecting the best bloodlines when breeding ponies for transport. In South Wales, a 35 mile uphill route was used, many ponies would complete the race in under 3 hours. Aptly described as "the best ride and drive animal in the world", the Welsh Cob has evolved throughout many centuries for his courage, tractability and powers of endurance. The general character is the embodiment of strength, hardiness and agility. The head shows great quality with pony character: bold prominent eyes, a broad forehead and neat, wellset ears. The body must be deep, on strong limbs with "hard wearing" joints and an abundance of flat bone. Action must be straight, free and forceful, the knees should be bent and then the whole foreleg extended from the shoulders as far as possiblein all places, with the hocks well flexed, producing powerful leverage. The Welsh Cob is a good hunter and a most competent performer in all competitive sports. In recent years they have had great success in the international driving world. Their abilities in all spheres are now fully recognised throughout the world. YEAH, DAKOTA HAS GOTTEN OVER 100 VOTES SO FAR, THANK YOU HC PALS! PLEASE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT MY WELSH MOUNTAIN PONY DAKOTA! HAVE A GRAT WEEKEND EVERYONE! MARIA, DAKOTA N THE GIRLS

THE WELSH PONY OF COB TYPE SECTION C
The Welsh pony of Cob Type is a stronger counterpart of the Welsh Mountain pony but with Cob blood. Their true worth as a dual purpose animal has been fully realized in recent years and their numbers have increased accordingly. Active, sure-footed and hardy they are ideal for so many purposes, both for aadults and children. Ideal for competetive events, both under saddle and in harness, a sure-footed mount for pony trekking and hunting. As there are few things they cannot do, a Welsh Pony of Cob Type, Section C, is the perfect all-around family pony. His origin is well documented; beginning in Medieval times when he was described as "being fleet of foot, a good jumper, a good swimmer and able to carry a substantial weight on his back". He was part of the essential string of mounts for a British Knight. A Welsh Cob, 'rouncy', was used to lead the mighty fighting horses, known as 'destries', whose natural gait was the trot. The Welsh Cob had to cover great distances, matching the great war horse stride for stride. To this day the forceful, ground-covering trot of the Welsh Cob is legendary. Thanks soo much everyone for supporting my Welsh Mountain pony Dakota during his HOTM run so far! I hope everyone is enjoying their week! Maria, Dakota N the girls

Early history of the Welsh Mountain pony.
The Welsh Mountain pony, one of the earliest established breeds, has roamed the mountains and wild regions of Wales for over a thousand years. Descriptions of these ponies from the time of Julias Caesar( when many where shipped to Rome to take part in chariot racing) tell of the beautiful head with huge, bold eyes and small pricked ears. Subjected to the rugged terrains of the Welsh landscape and often severe weather conditions, the Welsh Mountain pony not only survived for centuries, it thrived! Thus has evolved a breed world-renowned for its intelligence, strength, soundness and endurance. Welsh Mountain ponies are justly recognized as one of the finest foundations for horse breeding in the world. GROWTH OF THE BREED IN AMERICA While Welsh ponies were imported to America as early as the 1880's the Welsh Pony and Cob Society of America was not established as a breed registry until 1907. Interest in the breed dropped during the depression years , but through the combined efforts of breeders, particularly those in the East, participation in shows and fairs continued. By the 1950's the numbers of members grew, more ponies were imported and interest in increased dramatically. Over the next few decades Welsh became the fastest growing breed in America. Registered Welsh ponies and cobs can be found in every state and also in Canada. To date, over 45000 Welsh ponies and cobs have been registered. USES OF THE VERSATILE WELSH PONY The Welsh breed is ideal for the growing child and has the spirit and endurance to challenge an adult. Today Welsh ponies and cobs can be found competing in nearly every discipline...hunters,driving, dressage, combined training, combined driving, English and Western pleasure and heavy harness. Please support my Welsh Mountain pony Dakota during his Nov. HOTM run! Maria, Dakota N the girls.

Here's a vote for yah!
Left you a vote! Logans gravel in his hoof isn't much better and he is still limping, but soon he is going to get shoes on his front hooves so that might help him! My trainer said when he gets shoes it will elevate his hooves off the ground a little so they are not touching all the dirt and mud, and that will help prevent him from getting so many abscesses and gravels! Any horsey plans today? Left you a vote! Please spread the word about me running for August hotm and please vote for me! Come visit me!
