Sorry I haven’t been on as much as planned. I have been super busy with school and training Mac. This spring we will be competing in 1st level dressage which is new to both of us and have been working super hard.

♡♥♡ Happy Presidents Day…I had a very nice weekend and hoping you did too!! I hauled Deacon to Lake Whitney and met some friends. It was so beautiful out, calm clear skies and the temp was around 62. Perfect day! We didn’t get back to the trailer until after dark. The people I rode with do not really do much picture taking so I got 2 pictures of just Deacon but they turned out ok. Sunday was clear and 68 but the winds were 18 to 25 mph so I didn’t ride but I did chores around the barn and helped Cliff put in an opening for a gate area so we can let the horses out to the middle turn out through their main area they stay with the barn. Just enjoyed being out side and of course I had to muck stalls. Hope you had a great weekend too!!!!

Great pictures!
OK! Do tell, what is the one BIG surprise!!!!?

Fancy is really pawing you a vote tonight. I mean for real. LOL! She still has those feet into every thing. I put the water and food bucket that she uses when she is out, into the stall with her. I thought that might help her. She seemed happier eating out of the bucket instead of the feeder on the wall.
I tried a hay bag instead of hay net and I posted photos of what she did to it after only one night! She ripped it front and back. Ok, we can't use a hay net, can't use a hay bag.
I also posted a photo of her heel bulb injury from the first day. She cut if from the top down. The part that she cut began to dry up and wither, so I removed it and I try to keep it clean with meds on it. I will be glad when she is all healed and I don't have to keep her in the stall.

Well hello Logan, here's a vote for ya. Long time no hear(whinny)from ya. How's things in Jackson, as cold and snowy as they are in northern NJ? Trying really hard to stay warm all day long! windchills have it in the single digits and it's just plain nasty out there. Didn't get Indy to the indoor even, just had a spa day again with the heater on in the barn, it's about 40 in there and that's good to keep summer coats with the lights on and heavy double blankets. Paige did good today, very busy down there, another trainer doing several jumper lessons and her students had no idea about anyone else in the arena. Karen said she would just work Paige, didn't want me getting t-boned by one of those out of control jumpers! LOL!

I hope you gals and guys are saddling up Saturday and/or Sunday in support of our Veterans. People who give or gave their lives for others each day they served, when they really did not have to do so. Wow, what amazing people they are.

My granddad was in WWII and my oldest son has served in the Afghanistan wars, working on communications devices. I have one cousin serving in the navy, that was injured during the attack against the United States Navy destroyer USS Cole on October 12, 2000.

We all are affected by the military in some way.

No riding Thursday. It was a rainy afternoon. I did get to enjoy watching Austin chase Sadie as she chased Scruffy with him barking for Sadie to keep chasing him. Sadie had that tail up in the air. So funny. Even though I miss Star calling out to me, I've found peace with her passing. She's no longer sick and in pain. Love to you all. Voted.

Does anyone remember reading last month, about a nationwide Ride to Remember Veterans during Veteran's Day weekend, Nov. 10-11, 2012? How would you guys like to have our own HorseChannel ride in honor of Veteran's Day? We can chose one day that we all will ride on, even if it is only for a few minutes or just to sit on the horse during the Veteran's holiday. Then we could share our pics from that day and share our story of the day. If you agree would Sunday November the 11 be ok for our ride date?

Hi! Did you have a busy, fun weekend? What have you been up to?

I have been on the move, but I enjoyed it! Saturday morning, Fancy participated in her first parade! It was a really big homecoming parade, with lots of tight crowds and loud bands! Fancy was excited for the first 15 to 20 minutes, but after that she was very relaxed and was not bothered by bouncing children on the sidelines. In past years, I have ridden my previous horses in this parade, but I never got to participate in the tradition of riding around the football field before the game. I could not get my past horses onto the football field because they were afraid. Well yesterday, I did for the first time, ride around the football field, with my Fancy! Fancy even took the lead and she did that running walk at least half way around! It was so much fun! I will never forget the first time I got to ride around the football field!!!!! Oh, and to boot, the home team won their game!!!!!! I would like to believe Fancy gave them good luck when she went around the field. LOL!
Half way through the day all I could think of was how this has to be my best day ever with Fancy. And then I think to myself, I have had so many days that I thought were my best day ever with Fancy! Saturday morning, I lost my keys on the way out of town. The keys fell off the side of the trailer or the truck. But I found them completely mangled on the side of a busy street after 6 hours of being run over in heavy traffic. Even though I had the lost key problem, I still had that feeling of this being the best day ever!

Saturday night, our family attended our horseshow end of year banquet. This was our first time attending and I had no idea what to expect. So, I did not take my camera and I was very surprised to see Little Cowboy & Trigger won a good bit of awards. Little Cowboy was so excited to share the awards with Trigger, they used their new snaffle bit and new grooming kit tonight. He is going to save his new blanket for next years show season. Little Cowboy rode until dark, and I did get a few pictures tonight before it got too dark.

My friend, Dale, came over and rode Sadie Thursday. He's got a lot of experience. Such a blessing to have friends with horse experience who like to come out to ride. Sadie was so good. She did everything he asked her to. She kept those ears forward and seemed to love it. My liability sign is posted, too. Hugs and a vote.

well, i went to the parelli clinic today. i ended up driving with my 10 yr old student and her mom. we stayed until the lunch break and then left since they got a bit bored. i got to meet colleen kelly! i was having a snack on a bench at the back of the arena area away from the crowd and i heard someone call her name, then heard her aussie accent. as she walked past i introduced myself and we had a chat about rider balance and some of the old sally swift principles. she's a bit older than me so knew who i was referring to. i made a video and uploaded it. you weren't supposed to take pics but i noticed alot of people doing it so i just took a few quick shots of some liberty work and lead changes. i rode sing for an hour tonight to practice look, turn head, then shoulders then hips, then weight stirrup before even thinking about touching the rein when turning. had to lean over quite a bit to get her to turn but it was fun.

Question of the day: Do you put up your own horse hay or do you have to buy it?

My dad is a farmer, so we put up our own hay. Usually during the wintertime we run out and have to buy some, but this year the weather conditions for putting up hay were really good and we have lots and lots of A1 horsehay.

Hey Kenzie and Logan, how are ya'll?! Sweet Pea is galloping by to kick your horseshoe. It's so beautiful that she just feels like RUNNING and KICKING for JOY!! You know those days-that are so clear, and crisp and sunny that they just want to make you take a deep breath and R-I-D-E!!!
Well, I didn't ride today, but I did let the horses out in the meadow, which they enjoyed! I was playing the guitar a lot today, my fingers are soooo sore!! I can play (clumsily) 3 songs....of course they are just strumming and changing chords not very often, but it's SO much FUN!!
I don't really have any news, but I want to hear all about your day!!! I hope it was great!!

Hi! It's been awhile since I wrote on your blog. How is your wrist? All healed up yet? I hope so.
It was such a wonderful surprise to see Luna had been voted HOTD...and she wasn't even running for it! I gave her extra carrots, of course. I went riding yesterday, but afterwards I tried something I saw in a YouTube video. I started teaching her to "shake hands" (or hoofs? LOL). She started getting the idea of what I want after about 15 minutes. She doesn't offer up a hoof on command yet, but she started lifting her hoof towards me (instead of backwards, as if I was going to clean the hoof)and letting me hold it as long as I like. So that's progress, and today I will repeat until she gets it. It's just a stupid trick, but it's fun!

It's getting real cold around here now, but that won't keep me away from Luna. Have a horsey day! Voted.

Little Cowboy is in the 6th grade now and in his first year at Middle School. He has joined the school band & I love to listen to him practice. He can only play 2 notes on his trombone. It is so cute!~ (and a little bit bad. LOL) I can not wait to see what Trigger and Fancy think about these strange trombone sounds.
Have you ever seen a horses react to a person playing an instrument? I bet there are a lot of funny looks and ear twitches!

Sadie hasn't been ridden in months. She gets exercise when I let her out of the corral. She runs and kicks and prisses around. Still going to take it slow. Going to try calling the farrier, again, today. It's the busiest time for him, and he's very popular. Hope to get Sadie done by Monday. Hugs and a vote.
