How We Met

While camping out with friends some people that I knew invited a couple to ride with us that weekend. When they arrived they unloaded thier horses. As they backed out of the trailer I asked "what kind of horses are they?" They told me Rocky Mountain horses. They had one silver dapple and one red chocolate. I fell in love that day as we rode together. At one place that we stopped "Whiskey" came over to me and rubbed his muzzle on my hand and that was the moment I had to say to them "If you ever sale this horse please let me know first" Eight months later I got a call from Karla saying they were selling him-and that my friends was the begining of our journey together!!

Hi Whiskey, here's a vote for ya. Well another hot one! I took a picture of the truck screen dash at 12:20 something today and it was 96 degrees downtown! I had to run to the post office and Tractor Supply, almost melted! Horses all got baths today! And Bullseye too of course. Then decided to see what Honey thought about the Magic Horse Wand. She just stood like a statue for her bath, used warm water anyhow. She was so good, this dog has had someone in her puppy life that taught her good and I really hope they are not missing her! Cause I'm not giving her back! Another thunderstorm rolled by just north of us. No rain here, but you could hear the thunder, so needless to say, Honey was a wreck. Got in the house, put her shirt on her and she calmed down and laid on the floor next to my chair. Good ThunderShirt! Good Honey! Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Is the rain ever going to stop?
What was it, 5-6 years we were in a drought, couldn't hardly get hay, and now the rain won't stop. Feel so sorry for anyone who has wheat or oat fields, most of it just rotting.

Hi & a Vote,
It is so hot here suddenly that the animals aren't used to it yet (or people). I stopped by the barn and let horses in before it gets too hot and got them a few treats too! I will try to ride depending on the weather tomorrow evening, but we could get a thunderstorm. Can't imagine all the rain you've had!

A Vote for You!!
My old farrier always told me to geld the horses in the fly season, because the flys keep them moving. Just not when it was either cold or rainy....that is what kept going threw my mind, when I called to cancel. I also keep SMZ on hand, which is an old med, long before penicillin came out. Once when I got a filly off the meat truck, I had her quarantine, but somehow, my filly got near her, and of course touched noses, so I had two now to keep away from everyone else. I used SMZ's and penicillin together at the first sign of strangles, neither of them came down with it. Rainy and hot here too, but not unbearable. Hope you have a nice long weekend.

Gonna be making a quick visit to see Rayne tomorrow before work, and hopefully her leg will look a lot better. I'm thinking by next Friday I should be able to start taking her for rides, and possibly start some light training for speed show events. My boss informed me that I will start getting Friday's & Saturday's off just after memorial weekend. It'll be nice to finally get back to back days off. My older sister got bit by her stallion on her left arm, which required 11 stitches. I don't consider that too bad since I had to have 19 stitches on my face when I was 10-11 years old...Left you a vote

Come visit me, ShezaQueen Eternity & Rayne.

Hi Whiskey, here's a vote for ya. Well it was even more humid today! And a late afternoon thunderstorm too! Poor Honey was besides herself till I could get up to the house and put her ThunderShirt on her. She did calm down, but was even calmer when she could be next to me. Just lunged Paige and Indy. Too hot and humid to ride. Indy's abscess seems to be dried out and he's never taken a lame step. So that I'm really happy about. Did get all around the outdoor arena mowed and weed whacked, it looks nice and neat. Now to do more de-rocking and weeding of it. A load or two of sand, but that is financially on hold for sometime unfortunately. Love ya, Marion and the blondes.

Hi & a vote,
Today is vet appointment for standard vaccines for Rocky & Cowboy. My daughter will be at the appointment. I am at work, however, it is rainy out, so I don't feel too bad.
Yes, I do enjoy helping my daughter with the foster dogs, so she didn't have to twist my arm too much! I think her Chihuahua's are coming to stay with me for Memorial Day weekend when they go up North. They will take foster dog,Buck, with them (so far as the plan is right now).

Come visit me, Rocky (the blue-eyed wonder horse), Comet (the jumping bean) & Cowboy (See me at new profile 278871).

Hi all, sorry Ive been off the grid a while, I am just so busy updating our picking houses to be compliant with OROSHA, Lilly is doing great she is so pretty all shedded out, the goat boys are onry as ever, gonna be going to build another stall in the barn on the side where I store the hay, Im staging some hay in the loft above Lilly's stall then gonna put some over in the chicken house , the big barn is not that far away if I need to grab a few bales at a time in winter, took a sliding door off one of our old picking cabins and restored it, it will be the new door to the stall, not sure what kind of animal Ill get, Im just gonna let it play it's self out and Im in no hurry it will be an animal that will be compatable with Lilly and the goat boys, have a great week, love Suz, Lilly and the Goat boys

enjoy your vacation!
i wanted to set the record straight about the high profile news reports against Cypress Creek Equestrian Center, Darolyn Butler, and the horses that got flooded out during our bad rain. She's been around for many years, has 70 horses on 9 acres and uses some land around her for turn out. she's 66 yrs old and been a champion endurance rider. she cannot sell that land due to flooding. it's gotten worse as construction pops up all around her. she was wading/swimming into the rising waters, trying to round up her horses until the police forced her to stop. they made her sit, rest, and gave her coffee and donuts that they had because they thought she was going into shock. someone snapped a pic and posted it to FB saying, "she has coffee while others save her horses." she takes care of her horses. this comes from Dr Dutton, the vet that I've switched to. he was there for the rescue and also judges endurance races so he knows first hand the real story. she probably needs to begin downsizing but I think we all know that many people have too many horses on small acreages, myself included. I had 12 horses/ponies on this 4 acres and some probably wouldn't approve of that. all of us do it a bit differently.
buttercup checked out good and didn't need a hock injection. Princeton had a hoof abscess and has to stay out of mud for a week while the wrap protects it. so far so good.

Come visit me, Sing and Herd!.

Hello!
I was just checking all the comments on my HC page and found several older ones that I had never seen, due to the computer never telling me I had comments on HC! No Dreamer never had his eyes removed, the gave me pain medicine to give to him along with some cream for his eyes. He's getting along real well!!
The sun rays can hurt his eyes sometimes, but yesterday he was totally his normal self he even rolled around in his pen and I hadn't seen him do that ever since he went blind! Those pills are really doing wonders for him. Now it's time for some training for him! Do you have any suggestions? I have no idea what I'm supposed to start with next!!! I have taught him a few words like "step up". He's has got that one down pat, but that's all he knows for those, but he does know "Whoa, Easy and head up"

I took him for a walk around the yard to stretch his legs and he spooked at a few things at first, but other than that he was a great boy! He's also willing to do things, except if his eyes are bothering him a little! He will follow you around the pen like a puppy dog and nickers and sometimes neighs when he hears you! Thank you for leaving comments! Have a great day:) Leaving you a vote for your beautiful horses:)

Come visit me, Dreamer.

Hi!
I've just been really busy. I have been writing books now... waiting on being proofread and they'll be possibly getting published through (maybe) Amazon Kindle. I've been a voluntter at Horses of Hope (HOH) (horsesofhope.org) for almost a year now. The pinto on Cinnamon's page is a horse I like to wor with a lot (Scout). I did upload a not-so-great photo of Eli pretending to be a unicorn. The piece of hay got stuck in his mane. I'm going to try to log on at least 1-2 times a week now. Not sure what days because weekends are PACKED for me and weekdays might as well be the same. Trying to fit in time to log onto every site I have an account takes a while. I've been trying to get back into "the habit" of logging on here and BYC (backyardchickens.com) most days, but doesn't look like that'll happen. Anyways. Maybe Tuesdays will be my HC day, but it'll most likely be random. Cinnamon is doing quite well. Got her digestive problem straightened out, and Eli is doing good too. Got lots of pastures we're prepping for when the grass comes up. Got about 2 acres pastured now. Round pen phase #2 with 2B stone is done. Next is the screenings and fencing.

Come visit me, ~~HOTM and HOTD support/news page~, Cinnamon (270037) & Eli(270057).
